Introduction To Feudalism Feudalism started in Europe because of they needed a way to pull society back together after the Roman Empire fell down in the West. Feudalism started on older traditions of Germanic peoples to create order out of the trouble that followed the end of the Western Roman Empire.

PeasantsA peasant is a member of a traditional class of farmers, either laborers or owners of small farms.In the Middle Ages Under Feudilsm. In Europe, peasants were divided into three classes according to their personal status: slave, serf, and freeman. Peasants were fairly poor. According to law peasants worked to on land and the serf allowed them to own a small piece of land.

KnightsIn the middle ages, the term knight meant a mounted and armoured soldier. Originally, knights were soldier on horse-back, but the title became connected to nobility and social status. Knighthood eventually became a formal title given to those noblemen trained for active war duty.

Vassal Vassals in the middle ages were those who held the land,called a fief,and owned service to the lord who gave that land. The vassal was usually a knight or a baron but could also be trusted member of nobility. Vassals in the middle ages were an important part of feudalism,which was the system of government throughout Europe in the middle ages.The word vassal is believed to have been copied from the Medieval Latin.

NoblesThe peasants people were given protection.The nobles offered this protection through the use of Knights, who most often were the sons of the nobles.No the nobles ate rich and and fancy food prepared by the servant.Durning the time period of the Middle Ages the nobles libed well they was not rich but still lived good durning the time.

KingThe king was in complete control over the feudal system. He owned all the land and would decide who he would give it to. He didn't have to farm he had the peasants farm for him and In return he would let them keep some of what they farmed. The king was living well in this time period he was the richest and he never ,went hungry. Large stone castles were built not only to defend the country from foreign intruders but as saving power to the king and nobles.
