Investiture

Lord:

- In Exchange of your obedience I issue youA fief symbolized by this sack of soil that will give you sustenance for all your life. (The lord gives to the vassal a sack of soil)

- I will also give you Military Protection and Legal Defense- And as conclusion of this union I’ll touch your shoulders

with my sword. (At this moment the lord touches gently both shoulders of the vassal with his sword).
