CHANGES MADE TO MAIN AND ANCILLARY TASKS

AFTER FEEDBACKSam Chittock

BEFORE

These are the final two screens of the trailer, the release date and credits, the original transition between the two was a simple cut. After receiving feedback by one of my teachers, It was decided to make it a little more interesting and to represent the action in the film more, I would add a glass shatter effect to the release date screen. After adding this the release date screen looks like it is shattered and the pieces fall to reveal the credits. This gave the ending much more of an impact on the audience, even after the clips are over.

Although it is quite difficult to tell here, the critic quotes originally stayed still, no zoom or any effect. After receiving some feedback from the teacher on how this could be improved, the quotes now zoom in. This zoom makes the quotes seem more important, it also fits with the fast moving ending of the trailer.

These two shots were originally meant to transition using a simple cut. The person walking in front of camera was meant to make it look like the main protagonist was in populated area. I was told by one of my peers that I use replicate a transition they have seen in films before where a person walking in front of camera acts as a wipe transition. This ended up being very effective as a smooth transition and is one of my favourite parts of the trailer.

Although it is hard to see it clearly here, the film logo originally only zoomed out. After receiving feedback from one of my teachers, I made the letters start to get closer to each other. This both made it a more interesting way of presenting the film logo and also represents how the antagonists are closing in on the protagonist in the trailer.

For the ancillary tasks, the logo used was originally completely greyscale. After receiving feedback by one of my peers when discussing how I could make my products represent the action in the trailer better as it is the action parts that draws a large audience, they told me that I should add some kind of blood effect to the film logo. This was a great idea as it well represented the violence in the film and also made it look more interesting.

While developing my magazine design, I noticed a lack of colour. I asked a teacher what I could do to make it more attention grabbing and it was decided that colouring the mask details would benefit the design greatly. After doing this the magazine stands out far more than it did before, it also still fits with the colour already used on the cover. It was important that the mask attracted attention as it’s the cover image that is needed to make people interested in seeing my film, adding the colour definitely made sure this happened.
