Sunday
February 9th
Thanks for celebrating the dedication of the new sanctuary with us last Sunday. So many helped with music, meals, cleaning, serving, decorating, and in many other ways. The gifts of many people over the years are being well used. Thank you for your support. The design decisions have resulted in a beautiful space that will facili-tate worship for many, many years. God has blessed us richly at St. Paul. And He’s continuing to build His church!
Interested in helping on a Tech Team? In order to use the expanded capabilities of the technology in our new sanctuary, we will be expanding our Tech Team. We will need multiple people serving in our tech booth every week. Training will be provid-ed. Scheduling can be flexible. Please contact Pastor Mark, Pastor Joel, or Nathan with questions or if you’re willing to learn and serve.
“New to St. Paul” is a class we offer 2-3 times a year. It’s for those connecting to St. Paul or just curious to learn a little more. Topics include: “What is a Lutheran?”, “Why do you baptize babies?” and the like. The class meets for four sessions on Sunday mornings between services (9:30-10:30) in the 8th grade classroom up-stairs. The next class starts on February 23. Let Pastor Mark know if you’ll attend or if you have any questions.
Some Sanctuary design notes: What a joy dedicating and worshiping in our new sanctuary last Sunday! You no doubt noticed total completion of the project will continue for a couple weeks. Next, the contractor will receive our “punch list”, ensuring every detail is fully as it should be. Here are a few specifics which may be of interest:
• Our cross is a one-of-a-kind work of art. Using multiple mediums: wood, stone, glass, and iron are incorporated into its design.
• The chancel furniture is custom made with a wood and stain to match the cross. Also custom designed, the candle-holders and stand are fabricated from polished stainless steel, in order to compliment our color choices.
• The red paraments (colorful cloths on the altar and lectern and pastor stoles) were on loan last Sunday. New custom designed paraments are on order from Belgium and will begin arriving in a few weeks.
• The organ is a brand-new Allen Organ with two manuals (keyboards), foot pedals, 39 stops, and countless “voices” through the digital interface.
• The chairs were designed to maximize seating while also allowing flexible usage of the room. In the middle section, every other chair has arms to assist worship-pers. The side sections are armless to allow for infant carriers or other special needs. Storage racks on the chair backs and seats will hold hymnals and connection folders, freeing up seating.
• Behind the front walls are two rooms. One room is a sacristy for our Altar Guild. The other is a storeroom for access to utilities and storing equipment.
• We will have months (maybe years) of growing into the room’s technology: the digital soundboard facilitates clear music and speaking, each light on the ceiling is energy efficient LED and can be individually controlled for both brightness and an endless array of colors, a camera from the back of the room will allow us to record or livestream events.
• Acoustic treatments have been applied throughout the room to minimize the sound challenges of a rectangular space. These include the hanging sound “clouds,” foam insulation sprayed on the ceiling, and angles incorporated into the wall design.
• To maximize efficiency and comfort, the HVAC ducts were brought down from the ceiling to surround the seating area of the room.
• A cry room to assist parents and nursing mothers is just outside the sanctuary doors with a large window into the worship space.
Thursday morning Bible Class will be meeting at 10:00a starting with

Giving Statements and Envelope Update. Year end giving state-ments will be available this weekend outside the new sanctuary. Please make sure to grab yours before or after worship.
For those receiving weekly offering envelopes by mail: you’re right, February enve-lopes were never delivered. Our supplier recently in-formed us they will no longer provide this service or honor our order for 2020. For the remainder of this year, we will be return-ing to traditional boxes of envelopes. Boxes will be outside the new sanctuary this weekend. Of course, you may always make a donation without an official offering envelope. Be certain to include your name and the designation of your gift. We want to make sure you get tax credit for your donations and any gifts are applied to the proper fund. Thank you for your flexibility and patience. Call the front office (Donna or Phyllis) with any questions. 770.487.0339.
The National Lutheran Choir will perform in Midtown Atlanta February 23, 4:00p. This 60 voice volunteer group’s repertoire includes sacred choral music, hymns and spirituals, along with contemporary com-positions. Here is the link to the NLCA website:
