Youth Ministry —St. John the Evangelist, St. Margaret and St. Mary Star of the Sea Youth!
The Youth Ministry program offers the unique opportunity for middle and high school teens to grow in a deeper rela-
tionship with Christ and His Church! The goal of our program is simple: BRING THEM CHRIST! From those who have a strong connection to God to some who have never even heard of Christ’s love, we welcome
teens from all walks of life and give them the chance to simply hear and experience the Gospel Message of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The youth are not the Church tomorrow, they are the Church NOW! And so we dedicate all of our time and efforts to their needs
and encourage them to become the men and woman God made them to be.
Beverly Pax Christi will hold their monthly meeting next Tuesday February 9th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the con-vent on Chapman Street. We will discuss the upcoming meetings on the theme of “Seizing the Nonviolent Mo-ments” as well as our Lenten Day of Recollection. Also the results of the survey on the North Region’s parishes with groups on peace and social justice will be presented. Contact Karen at 978 524-0029 with any questions.

Fasting: Everyone, from ages 18 to 59, is obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Voluntary fasting on other weekdays of Lent, especially on Wednesdays and Fridays, is highly recommended. Fasting is generally understood to mean that one full meal may be eaten. Two other small meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be eaten; but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids are allowed.
Other forms of fasting, especially from alcoholic beverages, needless television, video games, the internet and social entertain-ment, is of true spiritual value and is strongly encouraged. When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, neither the law of fasting nor the law of abstinence obliges. If in doubt, one’s parish priest or confessor may be consulted.
LENTEN ALMSGIVING WITH THE
BEVERLY CATHOLIC COLLABORATIVE
Here is a way that we can give alms together during Lent. We have obtained from Bootstraps in Beverly
some of the items that they most need. During each Sunday of Lent, can we all join together and bring a
particular item to Church? We would all bring the same item. The FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT— SUNDAY,
FEBRUARY 14—could we all bring just one container of PEANUT BUTTER? We will have boxes in the back
of our Churches. We could use some volunteers at each of the parishes who would be willing to help load
and deliver the items each week. It is a small way of giving alms and of doing something together. We will
have a new item listed in next week’s bulletin.
If you can help with the pick up and drop off of these food items please contact the Collaborative Office.
