2018 February 24-25, 2018 Anaheim, California We look forward to your participation at the USA Collegiate Championships in southern California, February 24-25, 2018. Any school-baed college team is welcome to register – no pre-qualification is necessary. All compeon will take place at the Anaheim Convenon Center. Preliminary compeon for college school-based teams will take place on Saturday late aſternoon/ evening, with finals Sunday late aſternoon/evening. Compeon will conclude by approximately 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. All official warm-up and performance venues are at the Anaheim Convenon Center. All teams will compete at prelims on Saturday and advance to finals on Sunday. Registraon is completed on-line. In addion, please fill out the aached addional forms and send them into the USA office no later than January 19, 2018. The compeon also offers fun at the Downtown Disney® District, Disneyland® Park and Disney California Adventure® Park. The Downtown Disney® District is located within the Disneyland® Resort and is walking distance from the compeon venue. It offers dining, entertainment and shopping. A separate theme park admission cket is not necessary to visit the Downtown Disney® District. A 2-day or 3-day Park Hopper® Pass may be used throughout the weekend to visit both theme parks. You can use a 1-day Park Hopper® Pass to Disn- eyland® Park and Disney California Adventure® Park . Discounted tickets are available at the event at the Anaheim Convention Center Box Office through the United Spirit Association. (Quantities limited and date validity restric-tions apply).

GENERAL INFORMATION

ELIGIBILITY: Allteammembersmustberegisteredfull-timestudentsoftheschooltheyrepresent(collegeoruni-versity)andmustbeofficialmembersoftheschool’sspiritsquad(noClubTeams).Transcriptsforeachcompetitor,oraletterfromtheDeanofStudentsorregistrar’soffice,mustbesubmitteduponregisteringfortheUSACollegiateChampionships.Althoughateammayregisterforthecompetitionpriortothisdate,documentationoffull-timestatusmustnotbedatedanyearlierthanDe-cember1,2017.Anyexceptionstotheabove(i.e.graduatingseniors,graduatestudents,etc.)mustbepre-approvedinwritingbytheUSApriortothecompe-tition.

Individualnamesontheteamrostermustmatchthenamegivenonthetran-scriptorintheletterfromtheDeanofStudents/registrar’soffice.

Ateamthatviolateseligibilityrulesand/orcontainsmemberswhoaredeemedtobeineligiblemayforfeitanytitleand/ormaybeprohibitedfromenteringthecompetitionthefollowingyear.

Anyinterpretationsordecisionsofeligi-bilityforthe2018USACollegiateCham-pionshipswillberenderedbytheRulesCommittee,whichiscomprisedof,butnotlimitedto,theTournamentDirector,theUSACheerleadingProgramDirectororSong/Pom/DanceProgramDirectorandtheDirectorofSpecialEvents.TheRulesCommitteewillrenderajudgmentinamannerconsistentwiththegeneralgoalsofthetournament.

Ifateamfailstoproducethisproofofeligibilityforeachteammemberpriortoregistrationattheevent,theywillnotbeallowedtoperform.ProofofeligibilitymustbesubmittedtotheUSAofficeonorbeforeJanuary19,2018.Ifsubmit-tedafterJanuary19,2018thena$25processingfeewilloccur,inadditiontoa

teamnotbeingeligibleforthe“EarlyBird”registrationfee.Itistheadvisor’s/coach’sresponsibilitytoprovidethisinformationtotheUnitedSpiritAssociationbythestateddeadlineintheregistrationconfir-mation.

Eachschool-basedcheerteamfromtheUnitedStatesmustbeaccompaniedbyacurrentAACCAcertifiedcoach,represent-ingthatteam,inorderfortheteamtobeeligibletocompete.Proofofcertificationmustbeprovidedwiththeteameligibilitymaterials.

ADDITIONAL VARSITY BRANDS TEAM/INDIVIDUAL REQUIRE-MENTS:1. AnyuniversityorcollegecompetinginaVarsityCollegeNationalChampionshipand/orCollegiateChampionshipshallnotpermitastudent-athletetorepresenttheirschoolunlessthestudent-athletemeetsallapplicableeligibilityrequirements,andthecoachandprogramadministrativesuper-visorhascertifiedthestudentathlete’seligibility.

2. A student-athlete may only representONE (1) school in a National Champion-ship and/or Collegiate Championshipcompetition for each academic year. Forexample,astudent-athletemaynotcom-peteforoneschoolinJanuary,transferandcompeteforanotherschoolinApril.

3. AttheJuniorCollegelevel,anystu-dent-athletewillbeonlyeligibletocom-peteinamaximum of three (3) NationalChampionshipsduringthecourseofhis/hercollegecareer.

4. Astudent-athletecanbeapartoftheinstitution’scheer/dancespiritsquadbut

willonlybeallowedtocompeteforamaximum of five (5)NationalCham-pionshipsduringthecourseofhis/hercollegecareer,regardlessofthenumberofuniversitiesorcollegesshe/hehasattended.

5. Astudent-athletemaynotcompeteinmorethanfive (5)NationalChampion-shipsincombinedJuniorCollegeand/or4-yearcollege/university.

6. IndividualChampionshipssuchas PartnerStuntandGroupStuntwillfol-lowfive (5) yeareligibilityrules.

7. Analternateorinjuredstudent-athlete thatdoesnottakethe competitionfloor willnotbeperceived asacompeting memberandwillnot counttowardsthe maximumoffive(5) NationalChampion-ships.

8. Thiswillapplyforanystudent-athlete competingatanyoneoftheVarsity BrandsCollegeNationalChampionships (UCA/UDA,NCA/NDA),aswellasany otherdesignatedCollegeNationalCham-pionship.

Whetheranindividualcompetesat USACollegiateChampionshipsandat eitherUCAorNCAwithinthesame seasonortheindividualcompetesat USACollegiateChampionshipssolely, thiswillcountasoneyearofeligibility/onechampionshiptowardthatathlete’s maximumeligibilitypermittedduringthe athlete’scollegiateparticipation.

9. Verificationofeligibilitywillbere-quiredbytheschool’sRegistrar’sOfficeandtheprogram’sadministrativesuper-visor,inadditiontothecoach.Itwillbetheresponsibilityoftheseindividualstoverifythatallstudent-providedinforma-tionanddocumentationiscorrectandvalid.

10. Teamsviolatingthisrulecouldforfeittheirtitlesand/orrankings,aswellasbeprohibitedfromenteringanyotherVarsityBrandsChampionshipthefollowingyear.

DIVISIONS:Thecontestdirectormaydelete,combineordividecategories/divi-sionsasdeemednecessary.Ifdivisionsarealtered,adjustmentswillbemadeintheawards.Categories/divisionswillbesubdi-videdinto2-yearand4-yearinstitutions.School-baseddivisionswith10ormoreteamsmaybesubdividedagainbaseduponschoolsizeand/orteamsize.

soundsystematthetimeofperformance.Advisors/coachesareaskedtoholdontotheirownmusicuntilthetimeofperfor-manceandtotakemusicbackfollowingtheperformance.AllteamsmustprovidetheirownMP3de-viceorsmartphoneforuseontheeventprovidedsoundsystem.Musicmustberecordedatthecorrecttempo.Althoughitisnotrecommendedduetointerferencethatmaybecausedduringaroutine,asmartphonemaybeusedforplayingmu-sic.NocovermaybeonanyMP3playerorsmartphonesothatapatchcordmaybeeasilyinsertedintothedevice.Pleaseensurethatjacksarecleanandfreeofanydebriswhichmayimpactconnectivity.Youmustensurethatyourdevicehasajackintowhichapatchcordmaybeinserted.Notethatyoumayneedtoacquireanadapterinadvanceifyourplayerdoesnothaveaheadphonejack.Oneorseveralselectionsofmusicmaybeused,aslongastheyfollowthemusiclicensingrules.

ENTRANCE/EXIT:Judgesarelookingforenthusiasmandshowmanshipduringentrancesandexits.Teamsareencouragedtomoveonandoffthefloorasquicklyaspossible.

PENALTIES:Pointswillbedeductedfromthefinalteamaverageforviolationsofsafetyrulesand/ortimelimits.

A) SAFETY RULES: 2pointswillbededuct-edfromthefinalteamaverageforeach occurrenceofanillegalprocedure.For example,ifallsquadmembersexecutean illegalstunt,thesquadwillreceiveone 2-pointpenalty.Ifthesamesquadper-formsthesameoranotherillegalstunt withinthesameroutine,theywillreceive asecond2-pointpenalty.

Youmustadheretotheappropriate2017-18AACCA safetyrulesforcollegiateschool-basedcheeranddanceprogramsfoundontheUSAwebsite:usa.varsity.com.

B) TIME:Timingwillbeginonthefirstnote ofmusic,thefirstwordofthecheer,the firstorganizedcheer,orthefirstmove-ment,whicheveroccursfirst,andstop withtheendofthecheerorlastnoteof music.

Therewillbeaone-pointpenaltyoffthefinalaveragedscoreforevery10secondsoverthetimelimit(1-10secondsover=1pointpenalty,11-20secondsover=2pointpenalty,etc.)

NEW! Forcheerteams,upto2:15 (135 seconds)ofthetotalroutinemaybeperformedtomusic.Thereisnorestrictionastotheproportionofthemusicsection(s)usedinrelationtothecheeronlysection(s).Penaltieswillbedeductedfromthefinalaveragedscoreforgoingoverthe2:15 totalmusictimelimit.Penaltieswillbeassessedasfollows:1-10secondsover=1pointpenalty;11-20secondsover=2pointpenalty,etc.

Timingforpropset-upintheMascotdivi-sionwillbeginatthedropofthestarter’shand.Set-uptimingwillstopwhentheroutinebegins.

APPROPRIATENESS OF CHOREOG-RAPHY, MUSIC, OUTFITTING: Allfac-etsofaperformanceorroutine,includingchoreography,musicselectionandoutfit-ting,shouldbesuitableforfamilyviewingandlistening.Uniformsforallteamtypesshouldbeappropriatefortheageoftheparticipantsperformingtheroutine.

Ingeneral,performancesfromschool-basedteams,includingbutnotlimitedtotheactualroutine,signs,cheers,chantsandhandsignals/gestures,shouldadheretooutfitting,performanceandmusicguidelinesandcriteriainplaceandap-provedbytheadministrationorinstitutiontowhichtheschoolteambelongs.AColle-giateImageCategory/Scoreisincludedontheschool-basedscoresheets.

Deductionswillbegivenforvulgarorsug-gestivechoreography,whichincludes,butisnotlimitedto,movementssuchashipthrustingandinappropriatetouching,ges-tures,hand/armmovementsandsignals,slapping,positioningofbodypartsandpositioningtooneanother.Deductionswillbegivenformusicorwordsunsuitableforfamilylistening,whichincludes,butisnotlimited,toswearwordsandconnota-tionsofanytypeofsexualactorbehavior,drugs,mentionofspecificpartsofthebodytorso,and/orviolentactsorbehavior.

Removingimproperlanguageorwordsfromasongandreplacingwithsoundeffectsorotherwordsconstitutesinap-propriate,anddeductionswillbemadeaccordingly.

Anyuniform,movement,ormusicinwhichtheappropriatenessisquestionableorwithwhichuncertaintyexistsshouldbesubmittedtotheUSAforapproval.

PERFORMANCE AREA: A54’x42’carpetbondedfoammat(non-spring)willbeusedforallcheerleadingperformances.ThefloorsizethatwillbeusedforGroupStuntandPartnerStuntdivisionswillbeannouncedwiththepreliminaryperfor-manceschedule.

Allstuntsandtumblingmustbecompletedonthematsurface.Therewillbeathree-pointdeductionoffyourfinalaveragedscoreforeachinfractionofthisrule.

Thewarm-up/practiceareawillconsistofcarpetbondedfoammatstrips.Thesizeofthewarmupfloorwillbecommunicatedinpre-competitioninformationwhichisemailed14dayspriortotheevent.

Alldanceteamdivisionswillperformonamarley,parquet,stage,basketball/gymcourtorsimilartypedancefloor.Warm-upsurfacesmaydiffer.

PERFORMANCE ORDER:Typically,performanceorderisbasedonthereceiptofregistrations.Thefirstregistrationreceivedwillbethelasttoperforminthatdivisionandthelastregistrationreceivedwillbethefirsttoperform.Adjustmentsmaybenecessaryduetodivision/teamconflicts.

INSURANCE: Eachparticipantmusthavehis/herownpersonalinsurance.TheUSAdirectors/sponsorswillnotberesponsibleforanyinjuriesoccurringatthisevent.Firstaidstaffwillbeon-siteduringtheevent.

JUDGING: Theeventwillutilizeprofes-sionaljudgesfromvariousspiritorganiza-

tionsand/orbackgroundstocreateafaircompetitionforeveryone.

ENTRY DEADLINE:Registrationiscom-pletedon-line.Early bird entries mustbesubmittedandpaidbyJanuary19,2018andproofofteammembers’eligibilityandallotherformsmustbesubmittedtotheUSAofficebythisdate.On-Time Registra-tion Fee:Theon-timeregistrationfeewillapplytothoseregistrationssubmittedon-line,paidandpaperworkreceivedintheUSAofficeJanuary20-February9,2018.Registrations will not be accepted the 2 weeks prior to the event. 2018 Division Guidelines

SHOW CHEERNUMBER ON TEAM: Five to thirty-six in all divisions. For the Large Co-Ed Division, no more than half plus one (rounding up) of the total number of team members may be male. (i.e. 8-9 total participants = 5 maximum males, 16-17 total participants = 9 maxi-mum males, etc.)DIVISIONS: See enrollment form.ROUTINE PROCEDURE: NEW! Execute a routine of your choice using a combination of music and cheer portion(s). Audience participation and props (spell-out letters; Go, Fight, Win signs, etc.) are encouraged for school-based programs. You must adhere to the appropriate 2017-18 AACCA College Safety Rules (school-based pro-grams) found on the USA website: usa.varsity.com.TIME LIMIT: Maximum 3 minutes

HIP HOPNUMBER ON TEAM: Six to thirty-six.DIVISIONS: See enrollment form.ROUTINE PROCEDURE: A routine where dancers perform street style movement with an emphasis on execution, uniformity, body control, rhythm, creativity, visual effect and musical interpretation. A combination of hip hop styles is permitted and can include (but are not limited to): body control/isolations, popping, locking, tutting, breaking, etc. Jazz technique (i.e.turns/leaps) will not be credited in this division. You must adhere to the 2017-18 USA College Dance Safety Rules found on the USA website: usa.varsity.com.TIME LIMIT: Maximum 2 ½ minutes

DANCENUMBER ON TEAM: Six to thirty-six. DIVISIONS: See enrollment form.ROUTINE PROCEDURE: Execute any type of dance routine with the exception of a routine where the majority of choreography is hip hop. A combination of dance styles is permitted (i.e. jazz, lyrical, pom). Emphasis is placed on execution, visual effect, unifor-mity, creativity, proper execution/technique of skills and overall impression. You must adhere to the 2017-18 USA College Dance Safety Rules found on the USA website: usa.varsity.com.TIME LIMIT: Maximum 2 ½ minutes

GROUP STUNTNUMBER ON TEAM: Five maximum, including spotter (all female or all male).DIVISIONS: See enrollment form.ROUTINE PROCEDURE: The participants all must be from the same school. Execute stunts of your choice. Background music is encouraged. You must adhere to the appropriate 2017-18 AACCA College Safety Rules (school-based programs) found on the USA website: usa.varsity.com.TIME LIMIT: 1 minute maximum.

PARTNER STUNTSNUMBER ON TEAM: Two members, plus a spotter.DIVISIONS: See enrollment form.ROUTINE PROCEDURE: The partici-pants all must be from the same school. Execute single-based partner stunts of your choice. Background music is encour-aged. You must adhere to the appropriate 2017-18 AACCA College Safety Rules (school-based programs) found on the USA website: usa.varsity.com.TIME LIMIT: Maximum 1 minute

MASCOTNUMBER ON TEAM: Mascots may perform as individuals or as mascot groups. Participants in this division must be the of-ficial mascot(s) of the school and must wear their official mascot uniform. Additional team members, i.e. cheerleaders and dancers, are not permitted to be visible and perform as part of this routine.ROUTINE PROCEDURE: Execute any type of skit or novelty routine. Use of a theme and crowd involvement are encour-aged. Contestants may use music, props, costumes and accessories. Please, no use of water or other substances that would be harmful to the floor. Individuals assisting with props may not be visible during the routine. Materials that require clean up (i.e. confetti) are not permitted. All props/sets/ accessories must (either assembled or disassembled) be able to fit through a standard door measuring 7’h x 3’w. Stunting and/or tumbling is not allowed.TIME LIMIT: 2 minutes maximum for the routine. You will be limited to 1 minute to set-up your props and 1 minute to break-down your props. (See time penalty)

Ateamthatviolateseligibilityrulesand/orcontainsmemberswhoaredeemedtobeineligiblemayforfeitanytitleand/ormaybeprohibitedfromenteringthecompetitionthefollowingyear.

Anyinterpretationsordecisionsofeligibilityforthe2018USACollegiateChampionshipswillberenderedbytheRulesCom-mittee,whichiscomprisedof,butnotlimitedto,theTourna-

mentDirector,theUSACheerleadingProgramDirectororSong/Pom/DanceProgramDirectorandtheDirectorofSpe-cialEvents.TheRulesCommitteewillrenderajudgmentinamannerconsistentwiththegeneralgoalsofthetournament.

Ifateamfailstoproducethisproofofregistrationpriortoperformancetheywillnotbeallowedtoperform.

Itistheadvisor/coachesresponsibilitytoprovidethisinformationtocompetitionofficialsbythestateddeadlineintheregistrationconfirmation.

1. AnyuniversityorcollegecompetinginaVarsityCollegeNationalChampionshipand/orCollegiateChampionshipshallnotpermitastudent-athletetorepresenttheirschoolunlessthestudent-athletemeetsallapplicableeligibilityrequire-ments,andthecoachandprogramadministrativesupervisorhascertifiedthestudentathlete’seligibility.

2. A student-athlete may only represent ONE (1) schoolin a National Championship and/or Collegiate Champion-ship competition for each academic year. Forexample,astudent-athletemaynotcompeteforoneschoolinJanuary,transferandcompeteforanotherschoolinApril.

3. AttheJuniorCollegelevel,anystudent-athletewillbeonlyeligibletocompeteinamaximumofthree(3)NationalCham-pionshipsduringthecourseofhis/hercollegecareer.

4. Astudent-athletecanbeapartoftheinstitution’scheer/dancespiritsquadbutwillonlybeallowedtocompeteforamaximumoffive(5)NationalChampionshipsduringthecourseofhis/hercollegecareer,regardlessofthenumberofuniversitiesorcollegesshe/hehasattended.

5. Astudent-athletemaynotcompeteinmorethanfive(5)NationalChampionshipsincombinedJuniorCollegeand/or4-yearcollege/university.

6. IndividualChampionshipssuchasPartnerStuntandGroupStuntwillfollowfive(5)yeareligibilityrules.

7. Analternateorinjuredstudent-athletethatdoesnottakethecompetitionfloorwillnotbeperceivedasacompetingmemberandwillnotcounttowardsthemaximumoffive(5)NationalChampionships.

8. Thiswillapplyforanystudent-athletecompetingatanyoneoftheVarsityBrandsCollegeNationalChampionships(UCA/UDA,NCA/NDA),aswellasanyotherdesignatedCollegeNationalChampionship.

9. Verificationofeligibilitywillberequiredbytheschool’sRegis-trar’sOfficeandtheprogram’sadministrativesupervisor,inaddi-tiontothecoach.Itwillbetheresponsibilityoftheseindividualstoverifythatallstudent-providedinformationanddocumentationiscorrectandvalid.

10. Teamsviolatingthisrulecouldforfeittheirtitlesand/orrankings,aswellasbeprohibitedfromenteringanyotherVarsityBrandsChampionshipthefollowingyear.

D. Categories/divisionsmaybesubdividedorcombinedatthediscretionofthecompetitiondirectorifthetotalnumberofteamsinadivisionwarrantsthis.The USA reserves the rightto adjust days of performance for all divisions based upon finalcompetition enrollment.

E. Themaximumsquadsizeforallcheeranddanceteamsis36participants.FortheMascotdivisionthereisnolimittothenumberofindividualspermittedonateam,aslongastheroutinecanbeperformedsafelywithinthegivenfloorsizeconstraints.

F. Timingofaroutinewillbeginonthefirstnoteofmusic,thefirstvocalcommand(forcheersquads),orthefirstcheermovement,andwillstopwiththeendofthecheerorthelastnoteofmusic.Timingforpropset-upintheMascotcategorywillbeginatthedropofthestarter’shand.Set-uptimingwillstopwhentheroutinebegins.Penaltiesforexceedingthetotalroutinetimelimitwillbedeductedfromthefinalaveragedscore.PleaserefertotheCollegeChampionshipsinformationfortimelimitsineachcatego-ry.(Availableon-lineatusa.varsity.com.)Werecommendthatyou“time”yourperformanceseveraltimespriortothecompetitionandgiveyourselfatleastfivesecondsof“cushion”toallowforspeedvariationsinsoundequipment.

H. Judgesarelookingforenthusiasmandshowmanshipduringentrancesandexits.Teamsandindividualsareencouragedtomoveonandoffthefloorasquicklyaspossible.Set-upsandbreak-downswillbetimedintheMascotcategory.

I. A54’x42’carpetbondedfoammat(non-spring)willbeusedforallcheerleadingperformances.ThefloorthatwillbeusedforGroupStuntandPartnerStuntdivisionswillbedecidedafterregistrationfortheeventhasbeenreceived.Allstuntsand/ortum-blingmustbecompletedonthematsurface.Therewillbeathreepointdeductionoffyourfinalaveragedscoreforeachinfractionoftherule.Alldanceteamdivisionswillperformonamarley,parquet,stage,orsimilartypedancefloor.

J. Competition Standard for Spotters “TeamSpotters”=arepartoftheperformingteamand

requiredaspartofspecifictypesofstunting/pyramid/toss,etc.skills.

“Additional(Routine)Spotters”=Individualsonthecompe-titionfloorprovidedasasafetyprecautiontospotcertainelementsofaroutine.Theseareinadditiontotheteamanddonottaketheplaceof“teamspotters”requiredbyspecifictypesofstunting/pyra-mid/toss,etc.skills.

Inanefforttopromoteahigherlevelofsafetyforcompet-ingathletes,USAwillprovideadditionalspottersatallUSAschoolandrecreational/youthcheercompetitions.Schoolandrecreational/youthcheerprogramsdonotalwayshavealargenumberofstaffandcoachesavailabletospotroutines.Toensurethatthesafetyofparticipantsisnotcompromisedduetolimitednumberofteamprovidedspotters,“additional(routine)spotters”willbeprovidedbytheUSA.

These USA-provided “additional (routine) spotters” will be mandatory on the competition floor.

Reminder–Toprovidethesafestcompetitiveenvironment,teamsshouldnotattemptskillsbeyondtheirabilitylevel.

II. INTERRUPTION OF PERFORMANCEA. If,intheopinionofthecompetitionofficials,asquad’sroutineisinterruptedduetofailureofcompetitionequipment,facilitiesorotherfactorsattributedtothecompetition,ratherthanthesquad,thesquadaffectedmaybeallowedtore-presentitsroutinefromthebeginning.Thedegreeandeffectoftheinterrup-tionwillbedeterminedbycompetitionofficialsaswillthedecisiontoallowateamtore-presentitsroutine.

B. Intheeventasquad’sroutineisinterruptedbecauseoffailureofthesquad’sequipmentoranerroronthepartofasquadrepresentative,thesquadmusteithercontinuetheroutine,with-drawfromthecompetitionorbeplacedelsewhereinthedivisionwitha3-pointpenaltyfromthefinalaveragedscorefor“unneces-sarychangeofperformanceorder”.

C. Intheeventthataninjurycausesthesquad’sroutinetobeinterrupted,thesquadwillbeallowedtore-presenttheroutineinitsentirety,butwillbeevaluatedONLYfromthepointwheretheinterruptionoccurred,ortheteammaywithdrawfromthecom-petition.Eitheroftheseoptionsisatthediscretionofthecompeti-tionofficial.Thecompetitionofficialsreservetherighttostoptheroutineduetoinjury.

D. Uniform DistractionsTheLegalityOfficial,HeadJudgeoranyothercompetition

officialreservestherighttostoparoutine,assessadeduction,and/ordisqualifyateamforauniformdistraction(e.g.garmentnotbeingsecurelyfastened/attached,strapsbreak,pantssplit,etc.).Eachperformerisrequiredtotakethenecessarystepstoavoidinappropriateexposurepriortotheperformance.Ifajudgestopstheroutinethepenaltywillvaryfrom3pointstopossibledisqualificationoftheroutine.

E. Competitionofficialsreservetherighttostoparoutineatanytime.

III. APPROPRIATENESS OF CHOREOGRAPHY,MUSIC, OUTFITTING

Allfacetsofaperformanceorroutine,includingchoreog-raphy,musicselectionandoutfitting,shouldbesuitableforfamilyviewingandlistening.Uniformsforallteamtypesshouldbeappro-priatefortheageoftheparticipantsperformingtheroutine.

Ingeneral,performancesfromschool-basedteams,in-cludingbutnotlimitedtotheactualroutine,signs,cheers,chantsandhandsignals/gestures,shouldadheretooutfitting,perfor-manceandmusicguidelinesandcriteriainplaceandapprovedbytheadministrationorinstitutiontowhichtheschoolteambelongs.ACollegiateImageCategory/Scorewillbeincludedonthe2017scoresheets.

AnyuniformormusicinwhichtheappropriatenessisquestionableorwithwhichuncertaintyexistsshouldbesubmittedtotheUSAforapprovalpriortotheperformancetakingplace.

IV. PRELIMINARY AND FINAL COMPETITIONAlldivisionswilladvancefromprelimstofinals.The

judgesandtournamentofficialshavefullauthoritytomakefinaldeterminationofthenumberofsquads/teamsselectedforthefinalsineachdivision.Anyteamthatcompetesinadivisionwithaprelimsandfinalsmustcompetetwicetobeconsideredforfinalplacementinthatdivision.

V. HOW TO HANDLE PROCEDURAL QUESTIONSAnyquestionsconcerningtherulesorproceduresofthe

competitionwillbehandledexclusivelybythecaptainortheadvi-sorofthesquadandwillbedirectedonlytotheCompetition/Ven-ueDirectorortheirdesignee.Suchquestionsmustbemadepriortothesquad’scompetitionperformance.AnyquestionsconcerningtheperformanceofthesquadmustbemadetotheCompetition/VenueDirectorimmediatelyaftertheperformance.Shouldadirectororcoachwishtolodgeaformalcomplaintagainstanotherteaminthecompetitionforanyviolationof“PoliciesandProce-dures”orcompetitionrules,thiscomplaintmustbesubmittedinwriting,signed,datedandpresentedtotheCompetition/VenueDirectorpriortoanyawardsceremonyforwhichtheteaminquestionmaybeeligibletoreceiveanaward.ItistothediscretionoftheCompetition/VenueDirectorwhetherinvestigationintothecomplaintwillbecompletedpriortooraftertheawardsceremony.

VI. SPORTSMANSHIPAllparticipantsandspectatorsaffiliatedwiththemagree

toconductthemselvesinamannerdisplayingpositivesportsman-shipthroughoutthecompetition.Theadvisorand/orcaptainofeachsquadisresponsibleforseeingthatsquadmembers,coaches,parentsandanyotherpersonsaffiliatedwiththesquadconductthemselvesaccordingly.Un-sportsmanlikeconductwillinclude,butisnotlimitedto,approachingotherteams,competitionjudgesand/oranycompetitionpersonnelwithinappropriatecomments,outburstsorgesture;confrontationwithmembersofanotherteamand/orbetweenspectatorsofteams.Casesofun-sportsmanlikeconductatanytimeduringtheChampionshipseventaregroundstoreceivea1-pointpenaltyperoccurrence,uptoandincludingdisqualificationandtheUSAalsohastherighttodenyentrancetoortoremoveanindividualfromthecompetitionsite.Additionally,

disbarmentfromfutureUSAeventsmayoccur.

VII. SCORES AND RANKINGSIndividualjudge’sscoresheetsarefortheexclusiveuseof

eachparticularjudge.Eachjudgehastheresponsibilityandauthoritytoreviewandsubmithisorherfinalscorespriortothefinalresultsofeachdivisionbeingannounced.Scoresheetswillbeavailableonlytoadvisors,directorsorcaptainsattheconclusionofthecompe-titions.Noscoresorrankingswillbegivenoverthephone.Iftherecapsarenotavailableatthecompetition,thenadvisors/coachesmayrequestdetailedrecapsforeachcategory/divisionbycallingthemainUSAofficenoearlierthan1weekfollowingthecompetition.

VIII. APPEARANCES, ENDORSEMENTS AND PUB-LICITY

Allsquadswinningtitles,awardsorprizesagreetohaveallappearances,endorsementsandpublicityapprovedthroughtheUSAoffice.

IX. INTERPRETATIONS AND RULINGSAnyinterpretationofanyaspectofthesePoliciesand

thatdecisionsbythejudgeswillbefinalandwillnotbesubjectforreview.Eachsquadacknowledgesthenecessityforthejudgestomakepromptandfairdecisionsinthiscompetitionandeachsquadthereforeexpresslywaivesanylegal,equitableadministrativeorproceduralreviewofsuchdecisions.

Appearance Agreement: I understand that Varsity Spirit LLC dba United Spirit Association from time to time produces promotional material relating to its programs. I understand that as participant and/ or a spectator at the Event that Minor may be included in videotapes, dvds, podcasts and videocasts or photographs taken during the Event. Therefore, without reservation or limitations, I, in my own behalf and on behalf of Minor, hereby assign, transfer and grant to Varsity Spirit LLC dba United Spirit Association, its successors, assignees, licensees, sponsors, any television networks, and all other commercial exhibitors the exclusive right to photograph and / or videotape Minor and to utilize such videotapes and photographs and Minor's name, face likeness, voice and appearance as a part of the Event or in any other media now in existence or hereafter developed, in advertising and promoting the Event, in advertising and promoting similar future events or in advertising and promotions relating to Varsity Spirit LLC dba United Spirit Association without reservations and limitations.
