JA Days – a one day Group Volunteer Opportunity

“JA Days” are a Junior Achievement one (1) day mentoring project partnering employee

volunteers with an elementary school. Great for teambuilding & 1st time volunteers

Why employers like JA Day’s? This one-day group volunteer activity means limited time away from the office, encourages team-focused community impacts, and gives volunteers hands-on support to be successful teaching their programs.

“JA Days” are held in the Fall & Spring as campus wide onsite learning & enrichment programs. Educators and administrators appreciate bringing JA to campus as a school activity.

At the end of the school day, the students will have completed all five JA lessons and will have earned their JA certificate. Normally, this process would take five weeks to complete. Classes are conducted from Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Curriculum, training, lunch and support are provided by Junior Achievement team. Teachers remain in the classroom during the day. JA staff is onsite for the program and there are opportunities for volunteers to partner together to teach.

Volunteer Commitment: a. Attend a JA training session (can be held at your firm)b. Review kit materials to prepare the day before (30 min)c. On campus time: 8:30am – 1:30p (lunch provided)

Spring 2018: JA Days held at these campuses:1. Glen Oaks Park January, 31, 20182. Ryan Elementary February 23, 20183. Bernard Terrace February 27, 20184. Claiborne Elementary March 7, 20185. Capitol Elementary March 21, 20186. Dufrocq Elementary March 27, 20187. Children’s Charter May 9, 2018

“The kids were great! It was very personally rewarding to be able to feel like I was making a difference

and contributing to a child’s growth instead of sitting behind a computer all day. I also have a greater respect

for teachers. Thanks JA for a wonderful day!”

CIA Exam: Why, How, and What Is Changing January 2019

Why?

To ensure the material within all three parts of the CIA exam stays current and valid, the CIA underwent a global job analysis study to determine the knowledge, skills, and abilities most applicable to today’s internal audit practitioners. The study results indicated the need to revise the exam syllabi to reflect the evolution of the internal audit profession worldwide.

How?

Three exam parts are balanced, clear, and uniform.

Minimal duplication and overlap among exam parts.

Aligned with The IIA’s International Standards for the Professional Practice of

Internal Auditing.

Up-to-date with the current global practice of internal auditing.

Covers the knowledge, skills, and abilities exam candidates must possess to be

the most competent and capable internal auditor possible.

When? The updated CIA exams will take effect January 2019, in English only. The transition plan for non-English exams will be released in March 2018. Each candidate should review the changes and determine the best timing to complete their individual studies and take the exam. Please review the CIA Exam: Why and How It’s Changing Handbook and CIA Exam: FAQs below for additional details.

The IIA’s Customer Relations team is available to assist CIA candidates during the transition. Call +1-407-937-1111 or email [email protected].
