Have you heard? Workforce is ... HARD! Andrea J. Applegate, President of Applegate Talent Strategies, LLC, will be the guest speaker for our February 16th luncheon. The topic will cover the current situation of workforce & talent and the trends that impact your ability to attract, retain and engage your best workforce Like many businesses in the Columbus region, your company may struggle with the uncertainty of workforce. How do you attract workers with

the skills you need? How do you retain and engage the talent you already have? What are you going to do when a large portion of your workforce retires?

Andrea is a recognized expert in workforce & talent, and she speaks from a diverse array of work experience: from manufacturing to insurance to technology; from start-up to corporate to nonprofit. She cut her teeth at the Columbus Chamber, an assignment that evolved into working with Columbus2020. She conducted countless BRE—business retention and expansion—visits, interviewing employers about their workforce challenges, connecting them to resources, and recommending solutions to address their talent needs. She then jumped over to the nonprofit side to provide leadership to workforce agencies that serve job seekers. She was sought after not only for her understanding of workforce and workforce policy, but because of her business perspective—she understands how business works and what businesses need.

We want to see you on Friday, February 16th at Heritage Golf Club, 3525 Heritage Club Drive from 11:30am-1pm. Please RSVP by Wednesday, February 14th. You can register via the website or by calling the chamber office at 614.876.7666. We ask for payment at the time you make your reservation. Complimentary appetizers and a cash bar await you as you visit with 100 businesses and 500 attendees. We are partnering with the chambers of Dublin, Powell, Union County and Westerville and their members. We are asking for an RSVP for planning purposes which can be done on our website, www.hilliardchamber.org. If you are interested in having your business have a table at the Business Expo, please contact us immediately as we are now starting a waiting list as the event for table space is at capacity.

The Art of Negotiation Luncheon - RESCHEDULED

Due to a gas leak at the venue we had to reschedule this luncheon that was to be held in January to Tuesday, February 20th at the Reception House at Raymond

Memorial by Schmidt’s for the Hilliard Women in Business Luncheon from 11:30am to 1:00pm.

Back by popular demand, attorney Bea Wolper will present The Art of Negotiation, loosely based on Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War.”

Why? Because women are far less likely than men to negotiate at work, which typically costs women more than half a million dollars in earnings over the course of their respective careers! Come prepared to learn tips and tricks to better - and more confidently - negotiate.

Bea is the President of Emens & Wolper Law where she practices with an emphasis on family-owned business and women business owners; estate planning and wealth transfer; outside general counsel to privately held businesses; oil and gas law and acquisitions. She is listed in “Best Lawyers in America” in the Corporate Law category.

Thank you to Credit Union of Ohio for sponsoring this luncheon. Please RSVP via the website or by calling the chamber office at 614.876.7666. We ask for payment at the time you make your reservation. The cost is $18 for members and $21 for potential members and guests.
