Pamela’s Post February is great month to talk about your
heart and your love of your family and
friends. As a child growing up with 11 other
siblings we had our share of love. My parents
showed their love for each other daily with a
good-bye kiss and a welcome home hug and
kiss. They taught us to love and respect each
other and instilled in all of us a deep faith for
God. We felt we were unconditionally loved
every day (even though some of us were in
the dog house!) So, as we are building a new
team and family at Glenwood Place I try to
instill in my staff this love and respect of each
other and YOU residents too, so thank you to
all my staff and residents for helping me build
this team we all call Glenwood Place!
Did You Know?
Tax Information for
Residents and Families
Did you know that the IRS al-lows deductions for medical care for an individual, spouse, or dependent if the expense exceeds 7.5% of the taxpayer’s adjusted gross income? The monthly fee of an Assisted Liv-ing Community is a medical expense. The code further states that if a resident is living in an Assisted Living Communi-ty because of a medical condi-tion which requires them to be there, and meals and lodging are furnished, then the cost is considered medical care ex-pense.
Automatic Withdrawal
Did you know that Glenwood
Place offers an automatic with-
drawal option for easy rent
payment? See Pamela for the
form to get this free service
started and receive a $25 gift
card.
A big Thank You... goes out to Anne Schulte from SHIIP for meeting with
our residents and families regarding their Medicare part
D renewal. It was so wonderful that our residents did
not have to venture out of the community. Again many
thanks to Anne!

The Red Hat Ladies… The Red Hat Ladies and Gents met on Tuesday, January 17th with this being the last
meeting. We are sorry to lose our faithful Queen Mother, Janet Mason for the past 4
years. We talked about our past 4 years and places where we made crafts, did cook’s
corner and other interesting things. We sponsored the Christmas Hat and Mitten Tree for
our area children, and we do hope we can continue with this. Some shared their early
childhood memories. We had some extra red hat items to give away to anyone. It was
noted that our Red Hat Club has inquired about a program at the Veteran’s Home. We
thank Queen Mother Janet for all the time and encouragement she has given us. Tables
were dressed in white with red napkins. We had red sacks with a surprise inside, and of
course we had chocolate and refreshing drinks were served. Maybe we can meet
sometime for special interest groups. We were encouraged to bring any new ideas we
had to the group.
Again we thank Queen Mother Janet, and for our future at Glenwood Place.

Please welcome Owen Conley who recently joined
our Glenwood Place family. Owen was born at
home, on the farm to his parents, Margaret &
Owen Conley. He was the fifth child of twelve
children born into the family. He joined the Navy
when he was 17 years old. He has an amazing book
put together by his Navy family that outlines his
life and adventures in Service. Owen met his wife,
Delores and they married. He describes her as a
“wonderful woman”, “adventuresome” and a “real
trouper”. They raised four children and enjoyed
camping & traveling. Owen has many interests and
is hoping to find someone who likes to play ping
pong as a competitive sport. Be sure to say “hello”
when you see Owen!

Lisa’s Post
Brooke’s Post My first month at Glenwood Place has
been wonderful thanks to all of you! The
residents and staff have been so welcom-
ing and patient with me as I learn some-
thing new, and meet someone new each
day! I have been keeping busy with tours
because we do have a few apartments,
and 1 townhome available. Remember, if
you refer a friend and they move into
Glenwood Place, you receive $1000 off

of four children. Lora was born and raised in Iowa. She
grew up on the farm and she describes her childhood
as “wonderful”. Lora’s older brother is Beryl Keen who
also resides here at Glenwood Place. Lora married Max
Smaha. Lora describes her pride and joy in her two
grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lora is musical-
ly talented and played the piano for many church
events and services. She also enjoyed golfing and trav-
eling. Please welcome Lora to the Glenwood Place
family! I am excited about the big turnouts we
have been getting here at Glenwood
Place for Bingo, Fitness & Music Events.
This has been fun as many new residents
are joining in and getting to know one
another and finding the many folks here
they already have a connection with.
We are changing and improving our op-
tions for entertainment. The Daily
Chronicle has been well received and will
continue to be available to our residents.
We are enjoying several new musicians
for evening entertainment. As Life En-
richment Coordinator, I am open to sug-
gestions for new activities. This is your
home and we want the entertainment to
reflect your interest. Things to look for-
