Close to You: Music of the Carpenters

Space is Limited

Lisa Rock and her 6-piece band complete with back-up singers create a Carpenter’s experience like no other. Lisa’s amazing four octave range allows her to sing the hits like“We’ve Only Just Begun” and “Rainy Days and Mondays” in their original key. She draws the audience in with anecdotes about Karen and Richard Carpenter, their lives and how some of the songs originated. The music of the ‘70s is often defined by the disco beats of the Bee Gees and Donna Summer, or the guitar riffs of Led Zeppelin and The Eagles. One band carved a new path in pop music, and in the process created some of the most beautiful, memorable love songs of the decade, including more than a dozen number one hits on the Billboard charts. This band was the Carpenters.Join your Caterpillar friends—employees and retirees—for a memorable experience filled with classic, unforgettable songs at the 9th Annual Grown-Up Gala.
