Purple Haze is a very famous strain of cannabis that ha s been

synonymous with classic rock music from the late 60s.  It is a Sat iva dominant hybrid of cannabis. It is rumored that the genetics are derived from a Thai Haze x Dutch Skunk. The plant g rows in a temperate environment with temperatures reaching a mid to high range and low humid i ty.  The l eaf structure is distinguishable by its “sativa” characteristics. The leave fingers are very tall and narrow with short veins it is very characteristic of sativa plants.  The plant is not very bushy but can reach towering heights by the fruition of its cycle.  Purple Haze is a very vibrant purple with bright green leaves and has highlights of orange hairs.  The strain is extremely aromatic emitting a deep rich woodsy odor, almost earthy with a hint of skunk.

The taste has a very original flavor, it is a sweet grape candy taste on the inhale and a deep earthy flavor on the exhale. The taste is very similar to the smell.  The effects are very narcotic. There is a sense of euphoria, which i s not edgy or

discomforting. The high is long lasting with a very mellow come down.  The strain is ver y potent  with a physiological intensity and pronounced body high.  The strain is known to be good for pain relief, anxiety, depression and relaxation.

This refined wildflower honey is kief infused and is absolutely delicious. The great thing about this product is the versatility it offers. Spread it on toast, stir some in your tea, w h a t e v e r y o u r pleasure really.

We have been coming to El Camino Wellness for almost two years now and we have to say that at El Camino they strive to continually improve.  Of course one of the main reasons we come is for the excellent quality of the medicine, but the service is second to none.  And now with the new price cap at $50 dollars, there is really no need to go anywhere else!  We encourage all patients that haven't made a stop here to definately stop in and see for yourself!

OG KOIL

For most patients medicating with

Hash oils can be b o t h d i f fi c u l t a n d

mystifying, one new product that has made it easier to medicate is what is referred to as KOIL. KOIL is essentially butane hash oil that has been fortified with Keif. This marriage offers patients b o t h p o t e n t c y , d u e t o h i g h concentration of THC found both in BHO and Keif, and ease of use due its density which allows easy manipulation. KOIL works well in any thing from a metal pipe, glass bubbler or bong, and works especially well with a set or glass knives.

Rice Krispy Treats

C a n n a b i s butter and kief are two o f t h e a m a z i n g ingredients in this tasty snack.

Indica & Sativa Tincture

This is a great way to medicate if you don't like to s m o k e . I n d i c a s a r e generalized as being a good evening or day off strain. this is becasue cannabis indica has a very powerful effect on mind & body. Indicas are best at relieving spasms, cramps, nausea,

and other related conditions. Sativa is generally considered a good daytime strain. This is because of the cerebral effect that is less likely to slow or weigh you down. Sativas tend to be best at Relieving Migranie headaches, tension, stress, depression and related conditions.

J. Byron Brennan hosts a weekly service that educates patients about finding and utilizing various resources

avai lable in the community. He emphasizes that one doesn't have to be destitute, broke, or homeless to receive aid from many of these available ser v ices . . . f ee l f ree to a sk h im questions! Some of the fields he provides advice in include rent and utility help; applying for aid such as social security, GA, and CMISP; transportation issues like obtaining bus passes, gas vouchers, and shuttles; accessing low cost medical and mental

health clinics and services; veterans services; food lockers; emergency family crisis help such as motel vouchers, or food and clothing help; low income housing options; obtaining a new California ID or driver's license for free; and help for women, children, or people with a disability. He's on site to help patients every Wednesday from 4-6pm, and can be reached through email with any questions, too, at [email protected].

Ganja Goodies is locally owned and operated by Jessie Baker.  Her husband assists with deliveries and is the grower for the business.  Their menu consists of over 30 treats and they offer 3 strengths:  1.5 grams, 3g, and 4g per serving.  By farming and baking they ensure consistency in their products; each time you take home a Ganja Goodie you will achieve the same effect.  Every treat is made from scratch with the freshest, highest quality ingredients.

Each Ganja Goodie is made with butter that is infused with high-grade medical cannabis.  Using butter instead of hash or kief provides many benefits.  The first and most obvious is taste.  Ganja Goodies uses a multiple-step ice extraction process to purify the butter.  This makes each treat taste

like a treat and not like cannabis.  Another benefit is the fat in butter.  The THC molecule is fat-soluble, so during the heating process the cannabinoids are extracted by the b u t t e r .  A d d i t i o n a l l y, but ter ( f a t ) remains in the digest ive tract longer, allowing your body the full absorption of the medicine.

The fea tured ed ib le i s the Better-Than-A-Snickers Bar.  This 4 g ram t reat i s potent and delectable.  It starts with smooth milk chocolate that melts in your mouth.  The next layer is light and

f lu f fy nougat b lended wi th marshmallow cream and roasted peanuts.  The Ganja Goodies Not Your Nana’s Caramel tops the

to top i t off.  The flavor combination of chocolate and peanuts long with smooth and crunchy textures makes this treat Better-Than-A-Snickers Bar.

or the month of January, the profits of El Camino Wellness Center and our raffle were

redistributed to Lend a Heart, Inc. This incredible program seeks to improve human phys ica l rehab i l i t a t ion , despression, isolation, and trust through interactions with dogs and handlers. Lend A Heart relies on vo lunteer s and the i r pet s , and dispatches team members to resident care faci l it ies , shelters , schools , libraries, hospitals, and residences to promote wellness in the community. Tossing a ball, petting or brushing a dog are all ways to encourage patients to enjoy their physical therapy, while activities like encouraging abused and neglected children to read to and play with a dog can help them bui ld appropriate behaviors and respect for other living things. At a nursing home, a dog and its handler can help reawken an elderly person's emotional wellbeing.

UFC, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has elected to do a second annual fundraiser event for the men and women who are enlisted by the US Armed Forces. Last year, UFC, in conjunction with caring individuals across the nation, raised a staggering four million do l l a r for so ld ie r s . UFC President Dana White had this to say regarding the event: “It’s always a great honor for us to entertain the men and women of the military by bringing them some great fights while raising money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. It’s the least we can do for the peop le who a re defending this country and making so many sacrifices for our freedom, and this is a cause the UFC will always support.” And so goes El Camino Wellness Center, which will dedicate its

p r o f i t s and raffle donations to Fight For the Troops 2 in the month of February.

A different way to medicate with hash

F

MONTHLY DONATIONSCommunity of Compassion

INSTRUCTIONS1. Take some your hash and make a small ball, about  ⅛ of and inch in diameter. Repeat this step for more doses. Place the hash balls on a plate or some non flammable tray, to be ready.

2. Place your glass paddles, paddle end first, onto a heating device. A household gas or electric stove top works fine.

3. Once the paddles are red hot ready a ball of hash with a paper clip to be placed on one of the paddles.

4. Remove one of the paddles and place one dose of hash on the paddle.

5. Next Move the Paddle underneath the bell and squash the hash with the second paddle and inhale!

One popular method of medicating with hash is using a bell and paddle se t or more c o m m o n l y known a s the Gla s s Knives method. This set consist of two g la ss rod that ha ve been rounded and flattened on one end to form paddles, and a glass bell (essentially a a glass bowl, flared out to form a bell).Once you have acquired your bell and paddles, as well as your preferred bong or bubbler, the

process is easy! Whether you are an a v id ha sh

smoker or just t r y i n g s o m e t h i n g knew, the glass knives method can be one of most effective ways o f medicating. It is also a very clean method

o f medicat ing due to the fact that you are just vaporizing pure excretion from the plant. Have fun and always be safe when using any flammable devices.

pring is fast approaching and many f ine Californians should take

advantage of the beautiful weather we experience here.  There are several ways to start when you are planting outdoors from seeds or clones.

Some growers, to prepare for their outside grow, start from seed or clones very early in the spring, but indoors.  Seed plants grow with increased vigor compared to clones.  The rapid growth of seeds can actually be done without pre - star t ing indoors in the early spring just by planting them directly into the ground.

Starting plants early can cause problems like early flowering when plants go outside to the shorter days.  Seeds planted after the danger of frost is past will not flower until fall and this is what is desirable.  Seeds can

be planted earlier than pre-started plants could go outside in the spring.

What I am recommending is really so easy that you should try it.  Get yourself some high quality seeds (BOG Seeds J).  Give them a soak to germinate

and directly plant them outside in prepared soil about the 1st of May.  Try 3 seeds per barrel or hole or whatever you use, but go big with the pots to provide lots of room to root.

Directly planting of seeds will produce excellent results with fewer complications but you will

get some males.  The culling of the males later wil l just make room for the females to grow more robust.

What is the difference between THC, CBD and CBN?

THC, CBD and CBN are al l in a class of compounds known as cannabinoids. Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol or (THC) is the main active compound present in cannabis.  It is estimated by some researchers that 70-100% of the effects experienced by the user is due to THC.

Most strains have been bred for a high THC-producing plant.  There is also recent research that suggests patients with a pre-disposition to schizophrenia should avoid high THC cannabis. Cannabidiol or CBD occurs in many strains, especially those originating from Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The genet ics of THC and CBD resu l t in concentrations that are normally 0-1/2 of the cannabinoids present.  CBD does not have the same high-producing qualities of THC, but is thought to influence the impact and durat ion o f the h igh .  In addition, CBD has its own ana lges ic , sedat ive and ant ib iot ic proper t ie s .  Some researchers feel it lessens the anxiety-related e f fect s some user s exper ience wi th cannabis.

Cannabinol or CBN is an oxidative degradation product of THC.  It may result from improper storage or curing and extensive processing, such as when making concentrates. CBN has some psychoactvity, but it is less than THC.  The cannabinoid receptors in the brain do not have as much affinity for CBN as they do for THC, thus the lesser effect. CBN is thought by some researchers to enhance the dizziness and disorientation some users of cannabis experience.

What determines how much THC and CBD are in a plant?

The mix of cannabinoid (THC vs. CBD) in a plant is the result of heredity. The total amount of cannabinoid (THC + CBD + CBN) in a plant is the result of how well it is grown and stored.

The genes that are responsible for the production of THC and CBD affect how one another are expressed in the final flowering plant. It appears that a single gene dictates whether a plant produces THC or CBD. A plant inherits a copy of this gene from both of its parents. If both genes are of the THC type, the plant produces almost entirely THC; if CBD type, almost all CBD, and if the plant inherits one of each, it will produce a mix of approximately ½ THC and ½ CBD.

There is significant variation in the “strength” of these genes, so the ratio of THC to CBD production varies from plant to plant depending on the exact copy of the genes the plant has inherited. Each clone of the plant will, however, produce essentially the same ratio of THC to CBD as its “parent”. In hemp strains, the CBD form tends to predominate, so the primary cannabinoid in hemp is CBD. By contrast, drug strains of marijuana have been selected over centuries of breeding for the THC gene.
