Push a button and your cabin steward is at your beck and call. All your meals are provided, along with all the entertainment that the HOHS party includes. There are vendor tech seminars, and vendors who donate thousands of dollars in merchandise to be given away as prizes each night. There are games and contests throughout the week with thousands of dollars in prizes. They even give away a custom motorcycle to one lucky crewmember! Just last year there were over $220,000 in cash and vendor giveaways. It’s all part of the HOHS package.

Caribbean weather is perfect in early November. You’ll make stops in places like Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and a Royal Caribbean private Island stop for the day. At each port you can join the HOHS on-shore party or go off and do your own excursion. Or, you can stay aboard and enjoy the many amenities of the ship. The choice is yours. But you can be sure Dean will remind you at several points during the week about the need to pace yourself. This party is a marathon, not a sprint and with party locations like Jimmy Buffett’s, HardRock Café and Carlos N Charlies..it’s serious fun.

While you’re enjoying the fun, you can feel good about the fact that you’re also doing a good deed. Through a contract with Dialysis At Sea, up to 16 bikers or friends of bikers that are on kidney dialysis machines are invited to join the HOHS crew on each cruise. For many, this is their only opportunity to take an extended vacation. The cost isn’t funded by your cabin fare, but money is donated and raised through the special HOHS rally games during the week. You’ve got to do some searching to find anything different these days in the motorcycle rally arena. Same bike shows, same vendors, same biker games and food, same biker bands. It’s hard to tell one from the other. However, there is one rally that breaks all the rules and will give you a weeklong party that you’ll never forget. And it doesn’t even involve riding your motorcycle.

Billed as the rally that’s “Almost Too Much Fun”, Hogs On The High Seas is a unique rally experience that was created by Dean and Debbie Anderson. They’re both riders who grew bored with the carbon copy bike events. They decided to create a unique experience for the motorcycle enthusiast by redefining the parameters of what a rally is. This out of the box thinking led them to staging the party on one of the world’s largest cruise ships. Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas ship departs from Port Canaveral for the Western Caribbean HOHS adventure. It’s like a floating hotel, but bigger, and much faster. Though there’s not a rally to be found that will pamper you like this one, this isn’t like a traditional cruising vacation with all those shipboard formalities. Jeans with biker shirts are quite acceptable at each night’s dinner, and formal night says ditch the tux and bring out the leather. Believe me, it makes the non-HOHS passengers extremely jealous. The dress code is even more informal for events like the Belly Smacker and Treasured Chest contests. There’s even a tattoo contest for those sporting Hogs on the High Seas ink.

The Hogs on the High Seas Rally Website at www.hogsonthehighseas.com has information about everything rally related, including their other cruises. There’s even an online community where old friends can exchange stories and virgin cruisers can learn what’s in store for them. For those who associate Hogs with Harley’s, fear not. This party is open to anyone who rides any kind of bike, or trike, or is just a motorcycle fanatic. HOHS is Dean and Debbie and there’s no sponsorship from, or affiliation with, Harley-Davidson, H.O.G., Royal Caribbean, or Cruise One. For that reason, all rally registrations must by handled by Hogs On The High Seas or you won’t be eligible to participate in the activities.

As a two-time crewmember, I can tell you this is a rally that I would recommend without hesitation. The accommodations and service were first-class, my fellow crewmembers were the friendliest, and the parties were unforgettable. It was so much fun I didn’t even miss riding my bike for a whole week. So if you’ve been there and done that and just want to spend a week of having fun with some of the best to be around bikers from all over the world, don’t hesitate. Now in it’s 7th year, this rally is absolutely the best kept secret in the motorcycle community.
