The words of Saint Paul in the second Letter to the Corinthians at Mass on Ash Wednesday provide a focus for us in the Holy Season of Lent. “We implore you on behalf of Christ, be recon-ciled to God…For he says: ‘In an acceptable time I heard you, and on that day of salvation I helped you.’ Behold, now is a very acceptable time, behold now is the day of salvation” Ash Wednesday begins another time of concen-trated prayer, fasting, and almsgiving in prepara-

tion for the celebration of Easter. So often we desire the conversion and change God invites us to, but we hesitate or decide to wait for another day. Saint Paul echoes a call of urgency for us—NOW is a very acceptable time. We have the opportunity of responding individually and as a parish family to behold this day of salvation. Often during Lent we do something like giving up candy or spending less time on the inter-net. These are good practices that help us to grow in virtue, but also consider how God can be calling us to a closer relationship with Him. Perhaps in the midst of a busy and demanding schedule you can attend Mass one day during the week at 6:30 or 8:00 AM. Experience God’s loving mercy in the sacrament of Reconciliation. Spending some time in Eucharistic adora-tion and making time for daily prayer help us to keep our hearts centered on Him. Participat-ing in the Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings draws us more deeply into the experience of the Passion of Jesus. The Word Among Us is a great resource for prayer with Scripture and daily meditations. You are invited to take a copy from Church and use during Lent. We invite everyone, and in a special way those who are not able to be present in church due to COVID concerns, to share in some other opportunities this Lent. The two seminarians as-signed to our parish this year, Shane Flanagan and Bernard Ekeagwu, will be providing a Len-ten series that will be available for viewing online. More information about the videos will be coming soon. You may also journey with Dr. Tim Gray by signing up for Daily Lenten Reflections on FORMED. Each day you will receive in your inbox a short video which features Dr. Gray commenting on the daily Mass readings, explaining the Scriptures, and providing you with concrete ideas on how to apply them to your life. You can sign up for free at formed.org/lent. May you know His great love as we enter in these weeks of grace: We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You. A word from Mother Teresa: "All of us have been given the opportunity to be completely possessed by Jesus. The work He has entrusted to you and me is nothing more than putting our love for Him into action."

This year, Ash Wednesday is on Wednesday, February 17th. Here is the schedule for Mass at Saint Agnes: 6:30 am 8:00 am 12:10 pm 5:15 pm 7:00 pm in Spanish

Why Confession? Can’t I just tell God I’m sorry? Why are Last Rites now called Anointing of the Sick? Can a divorced person receive Communion? Why does the Church only ordain men as priests? For the Zoom links, please visit st-augustinechurch.com More info: Please email Br. Jacob Marquart, O.F.S. at [email protected] or call the Friary Office at (215) 627-1838 to sub-mit your questions.

Man Up Philly 2021 invites the men of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to the 13th An-nual Men’s Spirituality Conference on Satur-day March 6th. The Man Up Philly volunteer team has made the decision to change the format to a Virtual Event out of an abun-dance of caution given the COVID-19 status. We want to bring this great day to you to help all of us focus on our faith and reliance on Our Lord. The virtual conference will be available via a webcast and tickets will be available for a reduced cost of $10. We en-courage all men – fathers, sons, brothers, friends – to join us for an inspiring day of faith and fellowship. Become the man God is calling you to be! Rediscover the power and meaning of your faith! To register, visit manupphilly.com

Do you find it easy to pray? Do you hear God’s voice in your daily life and know how to respond? For most of us the answer is no, and we struggle to find even a few minutes every day to pray. The good news is that you can transform your prayer life! Oremus (Latin: “Let us pray”) is an invitation to pray. Over eight weeks we will enjoy video presentations by Fr. Mark Toups, lively small-group discussions, and inspiring readings and reflections for each day. Your prayer life will be changed forever as you will learn to talk to God and hear his voice in Scripture, in your heart, and in ordinary mo-ments. You will become more aware of His close presence, and learn to overcome distrac-tions and dryness. We hope you will join us on this beautiful journey that is life changing! The Women’s Bible Study has several small groups meetings on Thursdays at 9am in homes and virtually. We also have evening small groups on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. We look forward to seeing you! To register, please email Elizabeth Flick at [email protected] or call 610-883-6403 for more information.

THE FLAME OF LOVE OF THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY prayer group meets on Wednesday 11 – 12 noon in the St. Agnes Chapel during Eucharistic Adoration.
