I am so excited to have the playground built! We are so close to opening it, but

there are a few more steps. The Kid's Ministry and parents have been collecting

funds for the fence. We are more than halfway to our goal, but we still need

$2,500 to build the fence and complete the playground.

Would you prayerfully consider donating to the Playground Fund for the fence?

Online giving is available at https://universityhills.org/give. Under Fund, click on

the drop down box for the Playground Fund. If you would like to write a check to

University Hills, please indicate it is for the playground. If you would like to give

cash, please put in a marked envelope in the offering box.

I am looking forward to watching the kids play while the parents fellowship

together. I am excited to see how the Lord uses the playground for His glory.

Will you join us in praying for how the Lord will work and use the playground for

His kingdom?

See you on the swings!

Prayer Request for the Rileys

Hello UHBC,

We wanted to share with you a special way the Lord has been leading our family. Through 2020 we prayed, researched, and received training to become a licensed foster care family. We are humbled by this opportunityand know that we are going to need your prayers and encouragement.

This week, Lord willing, we will welcome into our home our first foster care placement: two precious sisterswho are seven and three years old. Would you please pray as we embark on this journey to love on children, parents, and one another in ways that glorify Jesus and point to His amazing grace.

We are so excited for them to meet you… our awesome church family!

Altar FlowersSunday, February 7

The flowers in our worship service this past Sundaywere placed by friends to the Glory of God and in loving memory of

Bette Rae ThomasFebruary 11, 1929 – October 24, 2011

Bette Rae was a faithful member of our church family from her baptism atEnderly Park Church May 20, 1940, until her passing 61 years later. She was

also a dedicated community activist in her later years in the Enderly ParkNeighborhood, working hard for improvement and developing community

pride.Bette Rae's parents and older siblings became involved in our congregationalmost from the beginning, joining Glenwood Baptist Church June 16. 1929.She loved her church family and supported the work and programs of the

church, sometimes anonymously and at other times serving, having been aone-time coordinator of the church nursery. In her final years she was

active in the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class. She devoted her life toher chosen career of nursing and later working hard for the betterment ofher home community, the Enderly Park neighborhood in west Charlotte.

Her tireless efforts in that community led to a request by the citizens therein 2005 to name the new state-of-the-art recreation center built by

Mecklenburg County, the BETTE RAE THOMAS RECREATION CENTER.Dedication for this beautiful facility on Tuckaseegee Road took place on

October 13, 2005 in the presence of many reisidents of Enderly Park, county officials and fellow church members and former members of

UHBC. Bette Rae pulled the rope to unveil the sign. In remembering BetteRae, we thank God for her example of faithfulness to her Lord and Savior,

church family and neighbors.
