Welcome to the 2019 Winterfest in Deer Lake!

In Newfoundland and Labrador, and certainly in the Long Range Mountains, we know how to celebrate and enjoy the winter season. Winterfest provides us the opportunity to get outside, embrace the snow and the weather, and make memories with friends and family.

Please remember to thank the volunteers who work so hard every year to plan these events. Without them, Winterfest would not be so successful and fun for everyone else!

Now, “Grab your snow clothes, your skates and your sleigh; let’s play the Winterfest way!”

As Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, and MHA for the District of Humber-Gros Morne, it is my honour to welcome you to the 2019 Deer Lake Winterfest.

This winter celebration is a wonder-ful way to get out and get moving, and to enjoy time with family and friends. Come experience the suppers and the songs, the cards and the children’s games, as well as the dances and the ‘dirty big fire’! The next 10 days will be filled with so much fun and excitement, I am sure there’s something for everyone at this year’s Deer Lake Winterfest.

I congratulate the organizers, volun-teers and sponsors for their hard work and dedication, and for giving back to your community. Deer Lake and area is truly blessed to have such devoted and enthusiastic residents.

As grade three student Ethan Brake so eloquently expressed – Grab your snow clothes, your skates and your sleigh; let’s play the Winterfest way.

I wish you all the best from February 1st to 9th.

Winterfest

On behalf of the Town of Deer Lake I would like to extend our appreciation to the Winterfest Committee volunteers who have donated countless hours to ensure this year's festival has something for everyone. Winter can be long and harsh with lots of snow and freezing tempera-tures. To break those winter blues, I encourage each and everyone to become active and participate in the many activities planned for this year’s Winterfest.

Winterfest is a tradition that brings us together to celebrate our winter season and provides residents with an opportunity to meet old friends and make new acquaintances. Let's get out and participate!

— Dean Ball, Mayor of Deer Lake
