as on the go. Daren Dowell would be happy to set up a meeting to discuss all your communication needs.

Chariton Valley towers cover over 6,000 square miles from Meadville to West Quincy, Missouri, and additional towers will be added this year. Ryan Johnson, Director of Sales and Marketing elaborated, “We’ve invested $8½ million dollars in this market recently, and we plan on growing this area.”

Chariton Valley also offers prepaid wireless, a pay-as-you-go service that requires no contracts or credit checks. There is no activation fee on prepaid plans, and since there are no contracts there are no cancellation fees. Device protection for Android and Apple models is offered but optional. You get unlimited calling and text messaging. Devices that are Hearing Aid Compatible are available for the hearing impaired. And who doesn’t love wireless support…especially when it’s available 24/7 from a live body?! A new, even more competitive, pricing rollout makes moving to Chariton Valley even more appealing. By switching carriers, you could get up to $850 per line credit. Referring another individual can earn you and the customer you refer additional money.

Chamber Briefs...The Palmyra Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting Tuesday, May 9, at HATS. President Charlene Jones-Liendo welcomed all including FBLA guests Austin Hebert and Cooper Hinkle. Liendo was looking forward to presenting the two $500 scholarships (one for a college-bound student and a second for an individual who will be attending a technical school) during Palmyra High School’s Award Night, May 23. FLAG DAY/HOWDY NEIGHBOR DAY Flag Day/Howdy Neighbor Day will be held Saturday, June 10. The Chamber welcomes additional entries. See the article on next page for more details. EXPANSION OF INDUSTRIAL PARK/INCENTIVE PACKAGE Rusty Adrian, President of the Palmyra Industrial Development Authority (IDA) was the guest speaker. What the group is doing to promote expansion of Palmyra’s Industrial Parks is particularly timely with many out-of-state businesses exploring relocation, often due to tax advantages. The local IDA has been in existence for about 40 years and oversees development in both the Charlie Brown Industrial Park on the north end of town adjacent to the American Legion Hall and the industrial park on the east side of Highway 61. IDA currently consists of a nine member board with vacancies being filled through the recommendation of the mayor.

Though both industrial parks are quite full, there is one 2.3 acre lot available in the Charlie Brown location. There is also one vacant building, the former site of Jet Bulk Oil, in this location and four industrial buildings available in the east end development. At the latter site, the structures for Architectural Woodworking, the old Crown Shoe Rack, Jack Sharkey Trucking and a lot on the east side of Miracle Supply are currently vacant and ready for development.

The Industrial Development Authority is currently working to update its website which can be found by clicking on “Industrial Development” under “Local Links” at www.showmepalmyra.com. They will be making changes to the available properties shown to currently reflect Palmyra’s status. An aerial map of the city, created with a drone, will be used to pinpoint these locations along with a link for each site to click on to give you more information about the site.

The second big project the group will approach is putting together an incentive package with incentives for businesses to relocate to Palmyra. Incentives outlined will include electric rates, Missouri regulations and tax advantages. Down the road is discussion on the possibility of making the Charlie Brown Industrial Park accessible from the highway.

NEXT CHAMBER MEETINGThe next monthly Chamber Meeting will be held at noon, Tuesday, June 13 at the Sesquicentennial Building. Doug Meyers, Director of Palmyra Parks & Recreation, will update members on what’s new and what’s coming to Flower City Park.
