SPACE BETWEEN Gallery aims to promote artwork by street inspired artists and those marginalized from contemporary gallery circuits in South Africa. Painters & illustrators; un circulated artists and those with unique voices and practices

rooted in undreground culture are curated into the program.

The gallery will be hosting regular group and solo exhibitions, workshops and creative related launches and events. Artists such as Nardstar*; Ninjabreadboy; Skullboy; R1; Mohammed Hassan; Jade Klara; Chris Auret; Russell Abrahams; Danielle Clough; Jack Fox; Steve ‘Crack’ and Tarryn Gordon are amongst artists whom will regularly feature throughout

the year at Space Between.

Additionally Space Between offers an Artist's In Residence program for visiting artists to Cape Town. The program offers the opportunity for artists to work on an exhibition proposal during their stay, liase and collaborate with other local artists as well as contribute to creative up liftment in the local community. At the end of their stay they will have

an exhibition presented to the public.

SB is also available as an exhibition venue for hire to external parties. Venue rental may also include events and functions (private parties and corporations); workshops; classes and photographic shoots as well as music related

functions.

SB is located upstairs at 139 Albert Road, Woodstock, Cape Town. Closely associated are Side Street Studios across the road and The Arcade building a few meters away, which all host restaurants and beautiful murals by street artists

practicing in the Woodstock area.

February has proved itself to be an interesting month after the launch of Space Between Gallery in late January. There have been many interesting developments and meetings, new artists coming onboard as well as clients. I am excited, busy and I hold much anticipation to see how SB develops with every month it grows older and more importantly a collective voice.

I would like to thank everybody who came to the launch in late Jan- there were between 500-600 people at the launch night! Many discussions, introductions and beers were had. The support towards the Underground creative community in Cape Town surprised me completely, in an extremely pleasant way.

On the 11th of March Space Between will be hosting its second group show titled ‘10/10’ which showcases 10 local artists with 10 original works of art, accompanied with 10 limited edition prints per artist available to order. We are excited about this show format because it allows collecting and supporting a local artist accessible to everybody.

SB A-I-R (Artist In Residency) has also launched and is open to applications to local as well as international artists. AIR artists would be given the opportunity to prepare a solo with the gallery and collaborate and liaise within the local creative Woodstock community.

Another exciting development is the inclusion of Joey Cameron, a passionate curator based in NYC. Joey shall be representing the SB brand and it’s stock in the United States. He has an extensive sales back round and is extremely passionate about the underground South African art community (www.iknowaguy.nyc)
