From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973.

Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song &

praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be.

If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us!

(If you’d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!)

NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email [email protected] with your name, phone number, address and we’ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places through the

Immaculate Virgin Mary.

A Moment with Blessed William Joseph Chaminade: “With a little time and patience, with the help of God and the protection of the Blessed Virgin, we will accomplish everything we set out to do.”

Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Presider……………………. Fr. Ed Jach, S.M. Assisting............................. Deacon Greg Cecere Liturgy Planners……………Chris Sitko Music Director……………... Teesie Chandler Interpreter for the Deaf........Paula Fleming

Revelation 11:19a; 12:1-6a, 10ab: Revelation was written at a time when Christians who refused to worship the emperor as a divinity were persecuted in the Roma empire. This reading reaches its high point with the consoling proclamation that even the power of evil has been overcome by Christ, the risen Messiah, who holds ultimate authority over evil and its offspring, sin and death.

1 Corinthians 15:20-27: Paul’s reference to Christ as the “firstfruits’ indicates the Jewish belief that resurrection would bring about a transformed people of God. Paul compares the risen Christ to the first fruits of harvest, which in Jewish culture indicated the entire crop. Thus when God raised Jesus, his followers understood that their own resurrection would soon follow.

Luke 1:39-56: When the angel appears to Zechariah, announcing that the aged couple will have a son, Zechariah not only questions but doubts. Gabriel reprimands Zechariah for his lack of faith; because of it, he will remain mute until the child is born. Luke contrasts Mary’s response to Gabriel’s announcement to her. The young girl also questions Gabriel’s message—that she is with child—not because of old age but because she has had “no relations with a man.” Unlike Zechariah, Mary responds with complete trusting faith. Asking only that God’s Word be accomplished in her.

Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us

Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us.

Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

CELL PHONES: Out of respect for the liturgy, please turn off all cell phones. Many thanks!

DEFUND PLANNED PARENTHOOD!: (From the Archdiocese of Cincinnati) Recently released videos in which officials of Planned Parenthood traffic in human organs, tissues, and body parts from their abortion clinics are chilling and appalling. They display a callous disrespect for human life. Staff from the Family and Respect Life Office of the Archdiocese took part in “Women Betrayed” rally at Planned Parenthood’s Cincinnati clinic on July 28th to protest this outrage. However, we need to do more than raise our voices. I urge Catholics and all people of good will to write to their representatives in state and national government, asking them to stop the flow of your tax dollars to Planned Parenthood. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has supported defunding for many years. Planned Parenthood received more than $1.3 M in state funds from Ohio and $500 M in federal funds in fiscal 2013-14. Please also support a pro-life pregnancy center that helps women in unintended pregnancies, providing many needed services. You can find a list of them at www.catholiccincinnati.org/ministries-offices/family-life/respect-life/pregnancy-coalition-resource-page/. If you have had or participated in an abortion and suffer remorse, please know that the Church’s post-abortion healing ministry, Project Rachel, stands ready to offer compassionate assistance. FAVORITE QUOTES: 1) "The important thing is not to think much but to love much; and so do that which best stirs

you to love." ~ St. Teresa of Avila 2) “God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness. When we take time to rest and seek God, we are acknowledging that we need God’s help. We weren’t meant to carry the weight of the world, but we often don’t realize how badly we need rest until we take it.” ~ Kristen Welch

NEVER SEND A MAN: My father was completely lost in the kitchen and never ate unless someone prepared a meal for him. When Mother was ill, however, he volunteered to go to the supermarket for her. She sent him off with a carefully numbered list of seven items.

Dad returned shortly, very proud of himself, and proceeded to unpack the grocery bags. He had one bag of sugar, two dozen eggs, three hams, four boxes of detergent, five boxes of crackers, six eggplants, and seven green peppers.
