Dear Brother and Sisters,I’ve got a wooden box that I received as a Graduation gift over 30 years ago. I wasn’t sure at first, but gradually its new purpose had become clear. It has become my memory box. In it I put the prayer cards of family members from funerals. I keep stones from special places, palms from Holy Week, prayer requests from friends. I am a poor one to rely on when it comes to remembering things from my past. But I believe God is better at the task of remembering. It does not seem to be in the nature of God to forget anything, short of our repented sins. For Christians, remembering isn’t just a kindly and generous thing to do. It’s a holy action, part of the mission of being church. We are the ones primarily commissioned to keep certain memories alive through the telling of stories and the celebration of ritual acts. Because human beings are notoriously bad at holding things in memory for long, our religion has come up with lots of ways to keep us from forgetting the most important things. The church calendar reminds us all year long of the central events of salvation history. Our Eucharist is a daily opportunity to retell the stories of all we have to be thankful for. Each celebration of the sacraments reinforces the mysteries of our faith: that we are invited to be members of Christ’s body, called to be witnesses and given the grace to do so, nourished with food for the journey of faith, forgiven our offenses and reconciled through God’s mercy, united in special partnerships for the spreading of the gospel, commissioned for service, and even in times of sickness and death, we remain valuable participants in the testimony of God’s faithfulness and love. When you think about it, we have a lot to remember, and the institution of church works very hard to keep centuries of teaching, tradition, and testimony from getting lost in the mists of forgetfulness.More than ever, as you are aware, my parish staff and I have been working almost non-stop to help us live the Mission of the Church in a different way. It certainly has been challenging, but with your prayers and support we have been able to accomplish much. There is, however, a danger, to become lax in our faith – especially with how “easy” things have gotten as far as worship. Please do not misunderstand, this is not meant to shame anyone (shaming is NOT of the Holy Spirit) but rather, to remind us:Are we praying every day? Parents, are you taking the time daily to teach the traditions of our Church through prayer and scripture? Your job was difficult before the Pandemic, I can’t imagine it now. What can I do to help? Our website has many resources. Have you looked them up? How about making Mass a priority? I realize the obligation has been lifted – but from day one, when I arrived back in September of 2017, I have reminded us time and time again, do not see Mass as an obligation, but rather as an opportunity. If you do not think it is safe to go to Mass at this time, that is fine. We still have Mass online or via the radio. Make efforts to “show up” for these liturgies beforehand. Take time as a family to participate. Live the faith throughout the week. No special shakes, supplements of secret coffee’s can do for our soul what Jesus Christ can do through the Eucharist. “Come to me, all you who labor and find life burdensome and I will give you rest!” God Loves You! Fr. Tim

Corpus ChristiGloria Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Reading 1, DT 8: 2-3, 14B-16AMoses said to the people: “Remember how for forty years now the LORD, your God, has directed all your journeying in the desert, so as to test you by affliction and find out whether or not it was your intention to keep his commandments. He therefore let you be afflicted with hunger, and then fed you with manna, a food unknown to you and your fathers, in order to show you that not by bread alone does one live, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the LORD.“Do not forget the LORD, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery; who guided you through the vast and terrible desert with its saraph serpents and scorpions, its parched and waterless ground; who brought forth water for you from the flinty rock and fed you in the desert with manna, a food unknown to your fathers.”

Reading 2, 1 Cor 10:16-17 Brothers and sisters: The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because the loaf of bread is one, we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.

Psalm, PS 147: 12-13, 14-15, 19-20 R. Praise the Lord, Jerusalem.

Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen

Prayer of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to possess You within my soul. Since I am unable at this moment to receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as being already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Gospel, JN 6:51-58Jesus said to the Jewish crowds: “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give

is my flesh for the life of the world.”The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”Jesus said to them,“Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my bloodhas eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my bloodremains in me and I in him.Just as the living Father sent meand I have life because of the Father,so also the one who feeds on mewill have life because of me.This is the bread that came down from heaven.Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.”

Pew SanitizersIf you are 50 years old or younger (we need the next generation to step up) – we could use your help in Sanitizing our Pews, Door Handles, Railings, etc. in our parishes. If you are able to help, please contact the Parish Office. The more volunteers, the easier this is for all of us. Remember, this too shall pass, but we must be prudent in the meantime! Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

Places of Worship Guidelines OnlineIn order to safely open our parishes for in-person worship with up to 25% capacity (and no more than 250 -which is not an issue for us) – we have made available on our website all the documentation we have been studying, reviewing and implementing for your and our safety. While your souls are certainly a priority – so is your health and well-being.

ReconciliationThe Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confessions) will be held weekly on Thursday nights from 7pm – 8pm at St. Charles Borromeo. Thank you for taking advantage of this opportunity. Because of Covid-19 restrictions, we have set-up a Confessional across the hall from the Sacristy. You will be behind a screen for your and Father’s safety. (This is why confessions are currently suspended on Saturday and Sunday).

Our God is a God of totality. Our God gives Himself to us; wholly, completely, totally. He does not hold back in giving. We see this most evidently on the Cross, he holds nothing back but pours out the entirety of his life for our sake. We also see this primarily in the Eucharist. Jesus gives himself totally to us; Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. Jesus does not take bread and wine and say, “take this all of you and eat/drink of it, this is part of me.” Jesus does say, “Take this all of you and eat it, for this is my body, my blood, which is given and poured out for you.” How do we respond, how ought we respond, when someone gives themselves entirely to us? We ought to respond in like manner. Because our God did not hold back and has given himself entirely to us, when we come to know and experience this in our own lives, we should be able to say “then I will also give myself entirely to you Lord Jesus.” Maybe a prayer we can make our own when we come to receive Jesus in the Eucharist could be, “Jesus, you have freely given everything to me, therefore in return, I give myself back to you. Do with me as you will. I surrender my life to you.”

United in Prayer,

Michael
