PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Thank you to parents and carers for your ongoing compliance with our drop off and pick up procedures. These will continue until the end of the term.

Students have settled back in to their learning program. Some restrictions are being eased around students and student activities.

Health and Education Department Guidelines still emphasise the need for adults to socially distance. Therefore we will continue to restrict adults on site during school hours. Activities, such as band, that require only one adult will recommence shortly.

Next term we hope that restrictions will be further reduced so that events such as out Athletics and Cross Country carnivals can proceed. If this happens it is likely that they will be a student only event without parents and carers being able to spectate. We will let you know more as we know more.

We have kept our bookings for Canberra (Yr6), Camp (Yr5) and Overnight (Yr4) excursions. We are hoping as restrictions are lifted these may be able to go ahead.

School Uniform

Thank you to families for your response to me message in last week’s newsletter. Uniform has been much better this week.

It is pleasing to see most students in grey or white socks, blue jumpers or jackets and very few students wearing tights on their own.

Thanks to the P & C uniform team whom have worked hard this week to fill hundreds of orders to assist families to have their child back in uniform.

Zooming P & C Meeting

Next Monday evening our P & C will hold their meeting vis Zoom from 7pm. There will be two parts to the meeting with a short comfort break in between.

Birthday Cakes Reminder – please don’t send birthday cakes to share. The canteen will have icy sticks that you can order through Flexischools. Another alternative is a fancy pencil or eraser to share with classmates (as these can be wiped and don’t go in the mouth).

Kindergarten 2020

Enrolments are now being taken for students starting Kindergarten in 2020. Enrolment forms can be collected from our school front office or you can enrol online by visiting our school website. To ensure that all relevant information can be sent to enrolling families, we are hoping that all enrolment forms can be returned to the office by the end of August.

The dates for our ‘Terrigal Treasures’ orientation program are in Term 4. The sessions run for 4 consecutive Wednesday mornings, 9:15am – 10:45am, from Wednesday 21st October until Wednesday 11th November 2019.

ADMINISTRATION

Enrol Online

We are excited to announce that we will be rolling out the new Online Enrolment System from Monday, 18 May 2020.

The Online Enrolment System is designed to provide flexibility for parents to submit an Application to Enrol in a NSW Government School online at a time that best suits you. The application can be accessed on all browsers and mobile devices including iOS and Android. You can start the online enrolment process by going onto our website https://terrigal-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/about-our-school/enrolment.html

The online application process is currently restricted to:

• Enrolments into local schools only • Children who are Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens or permanent residents • Children who live in NSW.

We offer our support and encourage you to complete your application to enrol online. If however, you do not feel comfortable completing an application online, a paper copy will be available for collection from the front office or can be downloaded from the Department’s going to a public school site.

Online Payment is the School’s Preferred Payment Option

How to Access the Website to Make an Online Payment?

Seasons for Growth

Learning to live with change and loss

Change and loss are issues that affect all of us at some stage in our lives. At Terrigal Public School we recognise that when changes occur in families through death, separation, divorce and related circumstances. Young people may benefit from learning how to manage these changes effectively, so we are therefore offering a very successful education program called Seasons for Growth which will commence in Term 3. This program is facilitated in small groups and is based on research which highlights the importance of social support and the need to practise new skills to cope effectively with change and loss. The program focuses on issues such as self- esteem, managing feelings, problem-solving, decision-making, effective communication and support networks. If you think your son or daughter would benefit from Seasons for Growth we would encourage you to talk to him/her about participating in the program. Terrigal Public School is pleased to be able to offer this important program and we are confident that it will be a valuable learning experience for those who request to be involved. If you require further information please contact your class teacher or Eileen Wyard - Seasons for Growth Coordinator.

Julie’s Corner How are you and your family adjusting to school after a long period of Learning

at Home??

It is only natural for anxiety to be heightened, as returning to school can be a different experience for students post

COVID-19.

Some programs that we use at school have been offering free weekly printables for students with a focus on understanding feelings and anxiety. If you would

like to access them, or check them out, you can do so here: https://gozen.com/printables/

My letter box is now in the front office if students wish to contact me. I’m really happy to be back at school. I’m available Tuesday and Thursday.

“Be the best YOU, that you can be Today”
