+Conventions

Anuvahood’s opening sequence does not conform to the normal conventions of a opening sequence because the credits are apart of the action, there is also dialogue included which isn't a typical feature.

The composition is not consistent which isn't a typical structure for title sequences because with every change in role the credits are placed in a different section of the screen although the colour scheme remains the same

Although they list the main actors names they do not visually match the names with a character or actor

A soundtrack was used – present in all title sequences! The track was a new release at the time and its a song everyone loved listening to

The title sequences highlights elements of violence because you see ‘Tyrone’ throwing a can at a lady’s head and throwing a kid out of his way.

They also have aspirations to be like ‘Big Mike’ clear through action and dialogue – could be a theme in the movie

Victims – the boys on the estate are confused as to why ‘Kay’ is talking to them like he knows them to approach them.

The music suggests they believe they are living a cool lifestyle – typical teen

‘Kay’ carrying mixtapes suggests music is involved.

Filmed on an estate... Possibly gang related?

+ Play around with stereotypes.. Might relate to a

character trying to find their identity and understand who they really are.

Levi Roots guitar being smashed at the beginning also suggests humour

Eddie Kadi (fine warrant) dancing shows that it isn't a serious film

Adam has mentioned several times that the film is like a British mix up of the film ‘Friday’ comedy/urban and you can see the sequence is lightly influenced by it because of the way the comedy is highlighted from the start and the scene is set with establishing shots of the area.

+Target Audience

The target audience is Teens and it is clear by all the conventions, the genre and music that teens are the target age - if you were just to judge from the title sequence alone.

Age restriction is 15 Although this has no relation to Kidulthood and

Adulthood – those who were fans of it would watch to see actors such as Adam Deacon, Femi O and Jaime Winston to see if it has a link. They would automatically associate it with the two films written and directed by Noel Clarke.

+Why this is one of my favs..

Firstly it has Adam Deacon in...

There is action as well as the titles, the titles are colourful and standout – I'm big kid so I love things that are colourful and have a nice font.

I don’t usually pay attention to title sequences but the movie starts off with a cold opening and then followed by the title sequence and because it gets straight to the action you can’t ignore it and it is entertaining too.
