German Evangelizing Mission, Inc. MR. & MRS. EDWARD W. FAUSZ WYCH-103.5 FM EVERY SUNDAY 1:45-2:00 PM FORWARDING AGENT Donald R. Dow^y P.O. Box 11326 Cincinnati, Ohio 45211 Mfie 're back on the air in German! WE PRAISE GOD! For as a direct answer to our prayers, the door was opened for our reaching over 55, 000 German-speaking people in the Cincinnati area! We hope that this will be the first of many stations which will transmit our German-language Gospel program. Of course, we will add stations only as funds are made available. We had carried an indebtedness from our previous broadcasts until July of 1974, and we wish to prevent a re-occurence of this embarrassment. Thanks to the generous gifts of the Columbus, Indiana Church and of individual Christians, we were able to liquidate fully the studio costs of the broadcast in Wetzlar, Germany! CONTACTS HAVE BEEN MADE with other radio stations throughout the scattered, German-speaking communities, and if you are interested in reach ing German-speaking people in the area in which you live, we may be able to arrange a bi-lingual radio program (German-English) in your community through the financial cooperation of the Churches in that particular area. IN OUR FOLLOW-UP WORK, we are providing literature in both German and English to enable non-German-speaking Christians to follow the materials in an endeavor to reach German-speaking people in their community. We hope to expand this work to a world-wide outreach, as the Lord blesses us with the needed funds to do so. PLEASE PRAY FOR US in this worth-while ministry. It is only one phase of our four-fold ministry of bringing Christ to the German-speaking peoples throughout the world. We ask your lorgiveneas for our long period of silence, but I have been kept extremely busy in the writing of a thesis in completing the required work towards a graduate ^gree in Germanic Languages and Literature at the University of Cincinnati. OUR HEARTFELT THANKS is extended to you and all who are making our work with the German-speaking people possible. May God bless you! We are Yours, In Christian Love and With God*s richest Blessings! Bom in Newport, Kentucky of German-speaking parents, Ed made hisappearance into this world on April 12th, 1922f the last of six children whowere bom to Jacob William and Anna (Wichmann) Fausz. As soon as he wasold enough, he attended the Deutsche Evangelische Protestantische Kirche inNewport, and later, the same kind of church in Covington, where he was confirmed in 1935 by Phillip Wiggermann, Minister.

H^^^l^sted in th©'U?S^ Signal Corps,--diK^g World War Q-'and servedHn the ijl.S. A^tmy for/three y^rs. Besides oth^duties, he ^rovideaN;adiocohi^i^ieation D^weeh Gen. Eis^i^how^ Bradley and Field/Marshal M^t-gomery. ,•

I,, (i , W itUpon his return from active duty^ (October 1945) he met and became en

gaged to Miss Mary Gertrude Eminhizer, who is of Pennsylvania Dutch extraction. Mary, (a direct decendant of Adam Immenhauser who migrated to thiscountry from Oppenheim, Germany in 1776) had a grandfather who was a UnitedBrethren minister. It was her grandfather who introduced the family to the Day- ^ton (Kentucky) Christian Church, saying: "It is a church closer to the teachingsof the New Testament than any I've been able to find!" Mary was immersed in-r "V/to Christ by Professor Metcalfe Miller of Kentucky Christian College who wasministering to the Dayton, Kentucky church at that time.

Through Mary, to whom he was engaged, Ed was exposed to New TestamentChristianity and was baptized at the Da3rton Christian Church by Bro. Coleman T.Sparrow in May, 1946. On June 1st, 1946, he also united the two in marriage.

Ed entered the Cincinnati Bible Seminary in the Fall of 1947 and graduatedwith an A.B. (Ministerial) degree in 1951. During this time (beginning in February, 1949) he was called to serve as minister to the First Christian Church inDayton, Kentucky where he ministered until September, 1952.

i

Three children were born to the Fausz* s: David Edward, born August 23rd,1949; Debbie Ann (now Mrs. Donald Dowdy) bom April 13th, 1951; and RobertWilliam, bom November 15th, 1955. All of the children were bom in Cincinnati-Ohio, as was Mary^H'̂ '.;,; t;

In September, 1952, Ed received a call to serve the Ballard Church of Christat Sparta, Michigan. While there, he attended and taught classes at the Great LakesBible College where he received his Masters degree (June 1st, 1954), Ed taughtGerman I and II, Archaeology and Christian Art. It was here^ that Ed and Marymade their announcement public that they would serve as Evangelist to the German-speaking peoples of Europe.

Following a prayer meeting at the Berkley (now Greenfield) Church of Christ,Ed and Mary departed from Detroit^Michigan on February 16th, 1956 to take upresidence in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. A local work was begun with Biblestu<fy in their apartment, and later (October 1958) the very first German-languageGospel program, sponsored by the Restoration, was aired over Radio Luxembourg.

Jig The radio ministry continued over this station through the cooperation of the Gos-pel Broadcasting Mission for a period of twelve years. Follow-up work included

personal visitation and mission tours throughout nine countries in tfee West, and

a constant exchange of letters with listeners living behind the iron curtain. Sincethe program was undenominational, it was an entirely new concept to the denom-inational-oriented peoples of Europe^ and resulted in a flood of letters from theradio listeners who wanted more information concerning the Church contained inthe New Testament.

Because there were no German-language teaching materials available, Edand Mary began a printing ministry to meet the needs of the radio listeners.Funds were raised to purchase a German offset press, and the printing ministrybegan in May, 1965. A few of~the-booklet& which-Ed has written and printed are:

"Gottes Plan fiir seine Gem^hde""Forschet in der Schrift-!'^^"Gottes Lehre uber den Glauben"

"Die echte Beziehung""Der ewige Fels"

^'^Gottes Lehre iiber das Gebet"

(God-'s Plan for His Church) .

(Search- the Scriptures) ,(God's Teaching concerning Faith)(The genuine relationship)(Rock of Ages)(God's Teaching concerning Prayer)

jnd other Bible Training and Teaching as^Devotional Bookletsand TraSts^"ti>45^^nupafer^sTo*Xe""i^^

Being both cost-conscious and because of the nature of this ministry (worldwide evangelism) the Fauszjs have moved their printing and radio ministries toCincinnati, where they can also be closer to their supporting churches. The eldersof the New Richmond (Ohio) Christian Church are responsible for the spiritualoversight of the Mission.

• In recognition of his_^ghteen years of Christian service to the German-speaking peoples of Europe andxAmerica, Ed w^s^res^ed with the/1^4 award!for "Out^^tanding-contribution to Cerman-Am^ican CultureKby th^^Society forGeinnan-Ateefican Studies" in the fi^ds-t^radio and literature.

eThe Fausz's have been engaged in a four-fold, world-wide ministry: radio,

printing, calling and training. Ed's missionary travels have taken him to ninedifferent countries in Western Europe alone, where he taught, baptized and taughtsome more. He was called to preach and hold meetings in both Switzerland andGermany.

Ed entered the German department of the University of Cincinnati to extendhis education and to further equip himself in the field of writing. He is now working on a graduate degree (having received a scholarship) in Germanic languagesand literature and is writing a thesis which he hopes to complete this year. He ispresently preaching over WYCH—103.5 FM in Hamilton, Ohio eveiy Lord's Dayafternoon. He can be heard in the Cincinnati area from 1:45 to 2:60 PM wherethere are 55, 000 known German-speaking people. More statiohs will be/added aroundthe world, as iunds are rMse\3 for .this program ..of Germ^ ev&ngelifenl.

With God's help, Ed and Mary hope to reach as many German-speaking peoplewith the pure, simple Gospel of Christ in whatever areas and by whatever means thatthe Lord will place at their disposal, both home and abroad. While in the States, theyare engaged in the writing and printing aspects of the ministry; and while abroad, theyare engaged in personal teaching and training. Only God can reveal the number of soulsthey have reached in the final harvest which is yet to come. Thier prayers are simply:"That God will use their lives in whatever way and in whatever place He sees best forthe building up of His eternal Kingdom!"
