WHY Fatima: The Path To Peace!

Fatima Is Unique

Our Lady of Fatima saidsome extraordinaryt h i n g s – s u c h

extraordinary things, in fact, ashave never been said before orsince. She tells us that Fatima isnecessary for the very survivalof Christian civilization. She

says, “If My requests are granted,Russia will be converted andthere will be peace.”

She also says that if Herrequests are not granted: “Russia will spread her errors throughoutthe world raising up wars andpersecutions against the Church.The good will be martyred, theHoly Father will have much tosuffer, various nations will beannihilated.”

Our Lady is consistent. Shecannot change Her Message tosuit the whims of people today.

Her words should be enough forus. But there are those who say:“That was said ninety-six (96)

years ago. People have not paid

attention. Therefore, Our Ladyshould give us another, more up-to-date message.” But those whosay that are wrong.

No One Pays Attention

Now, perhaps it is not quiteaccurate to say that no one has

paid attention to Our Lady’sMessage, but we can certainlysay that not enough people(including the Popes, Cardinals,bishops, and priests) have givenHer Message as much seriousconsideration and response as itdemands and deserves.

It is also true, sadly, that manyhave paid no attention to OurLady of Fatima. Others have givenHer some nominal attention, buthardly any. Too few have seriouslyreflected on Our Lady’s words andtaken to heart Her personal plea

for us to amend our lives, to praythe Rosary every day, and to makethe First Saturday Communionsof Reparation.

murdered. Then many bishops,priests, religious, and lay people will follow him in being forced tolay down their lives at the handsof the Church’s enemies. This isclear from Our Lord’s words toSister Lucy:

“Make it known to Myministers, given that theyfollow the example of theKing of France in delaying theexecution of My command

ResponseOne thing that we can

be absolutely certainof (judging from thepast ninety-six years)is that the Message ofFatima has not been

given enough of aresponse from almostevery man, woman,and child on the faceof the earth. Perhaps

you or someone youknow is an exceptionto that statement, but

the history of the pastcentury establishes thetruth of that conclusionas a whole.

Our Time IsAlmost Over

How long will this

inadequate responseto Our Heavenly Mother betolerated by Heaven? That time issurely running out. Our Lord hasindicated in the clearest terms thatHis Providence has established alimit to how long He will allow us

to neglect His Mother’s requests(which He referred to as His owncommand!). When that timehas run out, the Pope – like theKing of France – will be cruelly

[to consecrate Russia], likehim they will follow himinto misfortune.”

Our Lord’s warning is made

even more vivid by Sister Lucia’sdescription of the vision of theThird Secret, in which the child-seers of Fatima witnessed thishorrible “misfortune”:

“Other Bishops, Priests, menand women Religious going up

a steep mountain, at the topof which there was a big Crossof rough-hewn trunks as of acork-tree with the bark; beforereaching there the Holy Fatherpassed through a big city half inruins and half trembling withhalting step, afflicted with pain

and sorrow, he prayed for thesouls of the corpses he met onhis way; having reached the topof the mountain, on his kneesat the foot of the big Cross he

was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows athim, and in the same way there

died one after another theother Bishops, Priests, men and

women Religious, and variouslay people of different ranksand positions.”

Notice how Our Lord, in His words to Sister Lucia, draws our

attention back to His request of1689 through Saint MargaretMary Alacoque for the King ofFrance to consecrate that nationto His Sacred Heart. His request

for that consecration came 100 years to the day before KingLouis XVI was deprived of hispower to rule by the forces of

Revolution in France. He draws adirect parallel between these tworequests, which He refers to ascommands, for the consecrationof France to His Sacred Heart andthe Consecration of Russia to theImmaculate Heart of Mary.

Mercy Has a Time LimitIn asking us to invoke Heaven’s

aid to save us from our enemies,He extends to us His mercy. Butit is also clear from this exampleof the King of France that whenthe time of mercy has elapsed andthe threatening dangers actuallyovertake us, they come as anelement of being a punishmentfrom God.

When 100 years to the dayhad elapsed from the time whenthe king was commanded toconsecrate France, he suddenly

no longer had the power oropportunity to do so. It was takenout of his hands by his enemies.God allowed that to happen toindicate that it was a punishmentfrom Him for despising andneglecting the remedy which He

had offered.First there is a time of mercy,

which is real, but which does notlast forever. The time is pre-set byGod. Just as the kings of France

had exactly 100 years in which toact, there is undoubtedly a pre-set time during which Heaven

will wait for the Consecration

of Russia. Ninety-six years havepassed since 1917.

We have no guarantee of having100 years to put off our obedienceto the Queen of Heaven, but evenif we have yet four years to gobefore our enemies overrun us,do we think that four years is alot of time? Especially when weconsider how little response thisrequest has received during thepast ninety-six years, do the nextfour years seem ample space forour efforts?

One might argue that there

are still sixteen years remainingbefore 2029, which will be the100th anniversary of the formalcommand to consecrate Russia.But either way, our time is short.

And besides, it becomes moredifficult each year as our enemies

– the enemies of Jesus Christ –become stronger and stronger,and makes it more and moredifficult for faithful people andgroups to survive.

The important thing to realizeis that we will be held personallyaccountable for not doing our part

if we delay any longer to do all inour power to promote awarenessof this request and to pray andsacrifice for this intention.

The plain fact of the matter isthat we all – collectively, takenas a whole, and including thebishops, the priests, the religious,

and the lay faithful – have nottaken Our Lady’s Message andHer requests seriously enoughup to this point.

All of us (or almost all ofus) have not taken the FatimaMessage, the Fatima requests, theFatima commands of Jesus andMary seriously enough. We havenot made them our top priority,our most important duty – ourobligation to do all we can underpain of sin.

The lament of Sister Lucyspoken in 1957 is even more true

today:“[T]he Most Holy Virgin

is very sad because no onehas paid any attention to HerMessage, neither the good northe bad.”

We Must Choose Reality!

We may not want to hear thesethings. Some of us may find thesefacts too unpleasant to bear. We

would rather hear somethingthat makes us feel good. But it isbecause Jesus and Mary love usand long for our eternal salvation

that They have revealed to usthe truth of our situation. In ourturn, we must reflect on Theirrevelation, because our safetyand our salvation depend on

our adherence to truth. We mustconsider these things.

The reality of our situation issomething that we cannot afford

to ignore. If a young child isnear a hot stove and he does notunderstand how badly he can beinjured by it, he desperately needssomeone to warn him and keepan eye on him. Even though hedoesn’t understand his situation,the fact is that he is relying onsomeone to prevent him fromhurting himself. That is the realityof his situation.

The same can be said for allkinds of aspects of life. We canget sick or be injured or evendie as a result of the decisions

we make – in eating, in driving,etc. – regardless of whether werealize the dangers around usor not. There are consequencesfor ignoring or for being takenunaware by the reality ofour situation.

This is all the more true inthe case of Our Lady’s warningabout Russia’s errors spreadingthroughout the entire worldunless we beforehand apply forHer to save us by Her own meritsfrom the just punishment of oursins. We are in the gravest danger,

right now, all of us. We are on the verge of being cruelly conqueredand enslaved, even exterminatedin the most ferocious persecution

ever suffered by the Church, if wecontinue to ignore the warningand the requests of Our Lady’sMessage of Fatima.

Time is running out . Our timeis very short. Now more than ever,

we need our Church leaders andour elected state leaders andlegislators (in Washington, inOttawa, in Europe – Senators,Members of Congress, Membersof Parliament, Members ofState Legislatures, Members ofProvincial Legislatures, Mayors, Aldermen – every person charged with the administration of thecommon good) to be made awareof, and to pay attention to, andto do all that they can to bring

about obedience to Our Lady’scommand. Our response to Herrequest for the Consecration ofRussia is now more urgent thanever. It may soon be too late topreserve the lives and well-beingof much, if not most, of mankindliving today.

Facts We Must Remember

If you think I exaggerate, Iask that you stop to reflect on afew facts:

1. There are weapons that existright now and that are ready to

be deployed within as little as10 MINUTES, which can wipeout the entire USA – i.e., all 300million American citizens. Thisgoal of our enemies could be

realized in less than 1 hour afterthey fire these missiles.

2. There are enough operationalnuclear weapons in the world

right now in various countries(U.S.A. BRITAIN, FRANCE, ISRAEL,RUSSIA, CHINA, INDIA, PAKISTAN AND

NORTH KOREA ) to kill every man, woman, and child on the faceof the earth. In fact, this couldbe done MANY TIMES OVER

by means of all of the weaponsalready in existence.

3. Various capital cities of the world (including Rome, London,Washington, and Moscow, each

with their millions of citizens) havebeen permanently targeted forpotential annihilation by at leastone of the nuclear powered

nations listed above.4. In addition to all of thispotential for destruction, thereare also many powerful andinfluential persons among thetrue ruling elite of the world who

very seriously plan and intend

to carry this out (or some othersimilar plan to achieve the sameresults) for the sake of their ownpersonal gain.

84th Anniversary of the request forthe Consecration of Russia

His Holiness Pope Francis Vatican City

Most Holy Father,

Faithful Catholics around the world rejoiced at the news that YourHoliness wished his pontificate to be consecrated to Our Lady of Fatima,an act that was carried out by the Patriarch of Lisbon, Cardinal Jose daCruz Policarpo, on May 13, 2013, the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima.

This consecration is a dramatic demonstration of the enduring relevanceof the Fatima event — indeed, its continuing centrality in both ecclesialand civil affairs. It is, after all, the Roman Pontiffs in succession who,

time and again, have pointed us in the direction of Fatima at a time ofunprecedented crisis in the Church and the world. As your predecessordeclared, exactly two years before the consecration of Your pontificateto Her:

He deceives himself who thinks that the prophetic mission of Fatimais fulfilled. Here there takes on new life the plan of God which askshumanity from the beginning: “Where is your brother Abel […] Yourbrother’s blood is crying out to Me from the ground!” (Gen. 4:9).Mankind has succeeded in unleashing a cycle of death and terror, butfailed in bringing it to an end … In Sacred Scripture we often find thatGod seeks righteous men and women in order to save the city of man andHe does the same here, in Fatima, when Our Lady asks: “Do you want tooffer yourselves to God, to endure all the sufferings which He will send you, in an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended and ofsupplication for the conversion of sinners?”

Holy Father, even a United States Congressman has recently writtento us to declare the importance of Fatima not only for Catholics, butfor the world at large. He writes: “It is true that recent economiccrises have kept millions of people in poverty, and that internationalconflict continues to disrupt our peace. This is why Our Lady of

Fatima is as relevant today as She was nearly a century ago. On that

fateful day, the Blessed Virgin appeared in the small village of Fatimaand showed us that if we are faithful to God, He shall return Hislove exponentially.”

Your Holiness, we believe the time has come to bring the leaders ofChurch and State together concerning the imperatives of the Messageof Fatima, and above all its call for the Consecration of Russia to theImmaculate Heart of Mary as the means of securing true peace in the

world.

Thus, we humbly extend to Your Holiness an invitation to participatein an extraordinary conference entitled “Fatima: The Path To Peace!,” tobe held in Niagara Falls, Canada, from September 8-13.

We do not, of course, presume that Your Holiness would be able toparticipate in person, given the many demands of the papacy and theextensive advance planning required for the Pope to travel abroad. But theprivilege of your participation by way of a video address to the conferenceor the appearance of a delegate to deliver a message from Your Holiness

would add immeasurably to the capacity of this unprecedented event toelevate worldwide consciousness of the Fatima Message and its relationto God’s merciful plan for humanity.

We pray for the favor of your reply to this invitation.

O

n May 13, 2013 (the96th Anniversary of OurLady’s first apparition

at the Cova da Iria) yet anothermilestone was marked onthe long road toward theChurch’s eventual, but divinelyguaranteed, response to OurLady of Fatima’s requests.

The Holy Father Sends a Clear

Message To the WorldOur present Holy Father has

sent a clear message to the worldalready in the first two monthsof his pontificate: devotion toOur Lady, and especially to Our Lady of Fatima, is integral to an

authentic Christian life in ourtime. We all have reason to rejoicethat Pope Francis has chosento set this tone of a strong andloving devotion to the Blessed Virgin, even from the first days ofhis pontificate.

In fact, he began the very first

full day after his election onMarch 13 with an early-morning

visit to the great Marian shrine,the Basilica of St. Mary Major

in Rome. Dismissing securityconcerns, the new Pope gavea striking example of fervor

and piety (not overlooked evenby secular journalists) in hisunplanned trip across the cityto spend a half-hour in silentprayer in Our Lady’s arms, so tospeak. He made a special point of

venerating the basilica’s famousicon of Our Lady while he wasthere. (The famous portrait,titled Salus Populi Romani, istraditionally believed to havebeen painted by St. Luke theEvangelist.) As Catholic WorldNews reported, the Popeexplained the reason for his visit

specifically in terms of his desireto place his pontificate under thepatronage of the Madonna.

He also very significantlyreturned to “take formalpossession” of that samebasilica on the First Saturday of

the following May (Our Lady’smonth), on May 4. On this visithe led a large crowd of the faithfulin reciting the Rosary, and heagain made a special point of

continuous policy of various Vatican Secretaries of Statethroughout the past fifty years)came as he veritably insisted ona consecration of his pontificate,1) to Our Lady of Fatima, and

2) by the Cardinal Patriarchof Lisbon, Portugal, under

whose jurisdiction the FatimaShrine resides!

In considering the ramificationsof this request to the CardinalPatriarch, Jose Policarpo, one

cannot help thinking of OurLord’s counsel that we be as wiseas serpents, though at the sametime as simple as doves. Granted

venerating the precious icon ofOur Lady, both before and afterthe recitation of the Rosary.Finally, addressing those standingoutside the basilica for lack ofspace within, the Pope expressed

his need for our prayers, andasked that we pray three HailMary’s for him.

The Pope Insisted On theConsecration of His Papacy to

Our Lady of Fatima!

But the most encouraging signof our Holy Father’s courage andindependent resolve to put thedemands of Our Lady of Fatimaback on the table (reversing the

of course that this request byPope Francis was not the specificresponse that Our Lady of Fatimahas awaited since 1929 (the

Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary by the Pope in union with all the Catholicbishops of the world) – and thatour very lives hang in the balanceas this Consecration of Russia isdelayed! – it is nevertheless anencouraging and remarkable

development. It is a gesture of thegreatest significance, and full ofmeaning. In professing himself tobe under the patronage and at theservice of Our Lady of Fatima, heimplies as well that he will obeyHer – that he will do what Our Lady

of Fatima has asked of the Pope.What Has Our Lady

Asked For?

Our Lady of Fatima has askedfor a number of things from us.She has asked us to amend ourlives, and warned us that we must

not offend Our Lord any more,for already by 1917 He was “toomuch offended.” She has askedus to pray the Rosary every dayand to wear Her Brown Scapular.She has asked us to offer Her aCommunion of Reparation oneach First Saturday of the month

(along with a Confession, Rosary,and fifteen-minutes meditation,all performed as acts of reparationfor blasphemies and ingratitude

against Her Immaculate Heart).But there is one thing that OurLady of Fatima has asked for thatonly the Pope can give to Her: the

collegial Consecration of Russia toHer Immaculate Heart. I believethat Pope Francis is determined todo this for Her. I believe that heknows he can’t do it immediately– he has to lay the groundworkfor it, and lead the bishops to aposition in which he can depend

on their obedience when hegives the order. This presentorder to Cardinal Policarpo wasa masterpiece of human prudenceto that end.

It was remarkable especially inits boldness and prompt action.

Pope Francis has sent to theChurch a dramatic message which,as one of his first acts as Pope,appears to have been intended asa far-reaching signal of his plansfor the coming days: the long-awaited accomplishment of OurLady’s requests.

He asked for the consecrationto be made to Our Lady of Fatimarather than to the ImmaculateHeart of Mary. For those familiar with Our Lord’s desire to establishin the world the devotion to the

Immaculate Heart, this may seem

to be a step backward from theconsecrations performed by JohnPaul II, who at least got that muchright. But it is possible that PopeFrancis hopes to gain a certain

reconstructive advantage here. At this point in the struggle, howmany Catholics would recognizea consecration to the Immaculate

Heart as being associated with therequests of Our Lady of Fatima?In specifying Our Lady of Fatima,Pope Francis has given a real andunmistakable place of honor toHer entire Message.

Yes! The Consecration of Russia

IS PossibleFurther, in breaking from

the pattern of consecrationsperformed by Popes Pius XII, Paul

VI, and John Paul II (which werealmost exclusively papal acts),and asking one of his bishops tomake this consecration for him,Pope Francis has demolishedan objection which has beentouted for so long, alleging theimpossibility of consecratingRussia according to Our Lady’srequest. “The bishops won’t obey you, Holy Father!” previous Popes

have been told by the Secretaryof State.

Cardinal Policarpo isundoubtedly one of those whosedesire to cooperate in such anact might have been questioned.But his cooperation was easily

secured, and (as it turned out) ledto a demonstration of a collegialact of consecration involvingmany bishops! Addressing allthe Portuguese bishops in their

181st Plenary Assembly, heannounced the Pope’s requestfor this consecration and heexpressed his own desire that “all

the episcopal conference [would join] itself to the realization of thisrequest.” The Portuguese bishopsaccordingly decided to make thiscollegial act at the conclusion ofthe Mass of the International

Anniversary Pilgrimage on May13, the 96th anniversary of Our

Lady of Fatima’s first apparition.The international pilgrimage

was presided over by Brazilian Archbishop Orani Tempesta of Riode Janeiro, and (as Zenit News

Agency reports) drew crowds ofclose to 570,000 people during its

two-day celebration, with morethan 37,000 pilgrims walking tothe holy site from various points ofPortugal. A strong representationof clergy (including 37 bishopsand 290 priests) was alsoin attendance.

At the end of the Mass, CardinalPolicarpo led the PortugueseEpiscopal Conference inconsecrating our Holy Father’spontificate to Our Lady of Fatima.

“Most Holy Virgin,” hebegan, “we, the Bishops ofPortugal and this crowd

of pilgrims, stand at Yourfeet, on the 96th anniversaryof Your apparition to thelittle shepherds, in thisCova da Iria, to fulfill the

clearly expressed wish ofPope Francis to consecrateto You, Virgin of Fatima, hisministry of Bishop of Romeand Universal Shepherd.”The Cardinal went on inthis prayer of consecration(lasting about six minutes)to ask Our Lady of Fatima forall the graces of discernmentand courage that theHoly Father will need to

“overcome, in charity, thetrials that the renovation ofthe Church will bring him.”

The local ordinary of Leiria-Fatima, Bishop Antonio Marto,commented on the significanceof this consecration. At a May 12press conference, he noted:

“To consecrate the Ministryof the Pope to Our Lady ofFatima ... means ... to entrustto Mary his person, hisMinistry, and his intentionsfor the spiritual reform of theChurch. ...”

Bishop Marto also addressedthe pilgrims on May 13 after theact of consecration, reading amessage of thanks communicatedto Cardinal Policarpo from PopeFrancis through the ApostolicNunciature in Portugal:

“The Holy Father expressedhis pleasure over the initiativeand his profound gratitudefor the realization of his wish, in union of prayer with

all the pilgrims of Fatima, to whom he grants his heartfelt Apostolic Blessing,” saidBishop Marto.

Bishop Marto summed up theimport of this entire event wellin another statement given at hisMay 12 press conference:

“Pope Francis was and stillis a surprise. ...”

In all, we have seen a great and

encouraging step taken towardanother solemn and publicceremony – the one requested byOur Lady of Fatima Herself, which

will bring about Her Triumphover the mystery of iniquity inthis world.

The ceremony of May 13, 2013gives us real reason to hope thatour present Holy Father will bethe one to at last order all thebishops of the world to join himin consecrating Russia to theImmaculate Heart of Mary.

Let us continue to offer our

fervent prayers and sacrificesthat this is done in time to preventthe most dire of Her warnings– the worldwide martyrdomof the good, unspeakablesufferings for the Holy Father,and the annihilation of

“various nations.”|“Pray, pray for the Holy Father.

He will do it (the Consecrationof Russia) but it will be late.”

Consecrate The Middle East

And Lebanon To TheImmaculate Heart Of Mary

June 13, 2013 marked the 84th anniversary of Our Lady’s request for theConsecration of Russia.

Eighty-four (84!) years have passed since Our Lady most solemnly statedon June 13, 1929, “The moment has come in which God asks the HolyFather to make, and to order that in union with him and at the sametime, all the bishops of the world make the consecration of Russia to MyImmaculate Heart,” promising to convert it because of this day of prayer andworldwide reparation.

Our Lord has longed for this Consecration throughout all these years. They havebeen years of unprecedented sin and bloodshed and human misery – 84 years

which have tragically veried Our Lady’s warning: “Without the Consecration,Russia will not be able to convert, nor will the world have peace.”

Can any of us fathom Our Lord’s desire to see His Mother’s Immaculate Hearthonored alongside His Own Sacred Heart? Our Lady’s revelation of June 13, 1917holds a world of meaning: “Jesus wishes to make use of you to make Me knownand loved. He desires to establish in the world devotion to My Immaculate Heart.”

In the spring of 1943, Our Lord appeared to Sister Lucy to express the “joy of HisHeart” over Pope Pius XII’s December 1942 consecration of the Church and the

world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. As Sister Lucy told her bishop: “The goodLord has already shown me His pleasure in the act of the Holy Father and thevarious bishops, although incomplete according to His desire. In exchange, Hepromises to bring the war to an end soon, but the conversion of Russia will not takeplace yet.”

On June 16, 2013 (the Sunday following the 84th anniversary of Heaven’s request),another historic consecration took place which also undoubtedly gave Our Lordgreat joy. The entire Episcopate of Lebanon, as well as the Papal Nuncio to

Lebanon, and all of the Eastern Catholic Patriarchs of the Middle East

gathered inthe National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon to solemnly consecrate Lebanon andthe Middle East to the Immaculate Heart of Mary!

The entire Church in Lebanon prepared fervently for this consecration. For fortydays before the event, a special image of Our Lady traveled to every parish in the

Most Holy Virgin Mary,Mother of God andour Mother, You have

been chosen by God Our Father,through the action of the HolySpirit, to become the Motherof His Incarnate Son; You lived

perfectly the obedience of faith,united, by your motherhood,to Your Son Jesus, by anindissoluble bond, thus listeningto His words, treasuring up allthese things and pondering themin Your heart; You accompaniedHim throughout His early life

in Nazareth, where He wasgrowing in wisdom and statureand in favor with God and man;

You interceded with Him in

The Catholic faithful and bishops alike in Lebanon know how dangerous theirsituation is. If only all Catholics throughout the world could recognize that ourown situation is equally dire, and would take to heart the example of the devoutLebanese faithful! We must all lose no more time in entrusting ourselves to HerWho alone can help us!

What follows is the text of this beautiful Act of Consecration of Lebanon. Wecan only try to imagine all the graces that this solemn ceremony honoring theImmaculate Heart of Mary will bring down upon the world, and especially tothe war-torn Middle East. Our Lady of Lebanon, we ask You to bestow Your tendernessupon our beloved country

Lebanon and all the Middle East,this region which soil witnessedthe fulfillment of the events ofHis plan of redemption and from where the Church, by the grace ofthe Holy Spirit, took off to bringthe Good News to the entirepopulations, bearing witness to

the Lord Jesus until martyrdomand acting as the guarantor ofthe treasure of faith, in order totransmit it from generation togeneration, until it reached us.

O Mother of the Church, Helpus through Your intercession, for

Consecrate Their Country To

The Faith was brought tothese islands in the 16thCentury and for more

than three and a half centuriesCatholicism enjoyed expansivegrowth, weaving itself into the

warp and woof of this nation which was to emerge as the onlyChristian country of significantproportions in the Orient.

Then just as the 19th Century

was to end, Protestantismand Masonry confronted theChurch in the Philippines. Themissionaries from the UnitedStates arrived and began theprocess of Protestantization ofthe Philippines through the publiceducational system.

On an immediate basis wasthe serious threat of the riseof Aglipayanism, a home grown

version of Anglicanism whichtore away so many Catholicsfrom holy mother Church on amassive scale. This amidst and

after scenes of the fighting ofthe Philippine Revolution of1898, which was very much aproduct of Freemasonry. This

had taken root and engenderedanti-Catholicism among itsadherents, manifesting itselflargely in an anti-friar outlook which, as a consequence, resultedin the expulsion of the Spanishmissionaries after centuries anddecades of dedicated service inthe ministry.

But the Church survived thechallenge and assault. The

Philippines remained Catholic.Then the crisis of the post-

Vatican II era swept the Churchstarting around the late 1960sand the Church in our country

was not left unspared its effects.One of the worst evils in the

post-Conciliar period has beenthe clergy sex crisis in developedcountries which had beenthe focus of media attentionsome months back and did notsweep by without affecting theFilipino priesthood.

But despite the internal crisis inthe Church of our time which hasseen the decimation of the Churchin other countries, of which

and totters amidst a rising floodof secularism, consumerism andmaterialism but the Church in thisnation has not seen the ecclesialmeltdown experienced in Westernsociety. We are Catholic no matterhow nominal, which we contrast

sexually deviant clergy is just onemanifestation, the churches inthe Philippines are still full onSundays and the Filipinos clingto the Faith despite the all toohuman failures of its ministers.The Philippines Church wobbles

The Immaculate Heart of Mary seesthe plight that ALL countries are in

and offers the ONLY solution out ofthe current crisis in the world and in

the Church.

Let us pray that more CatholicBishops National Conferences will

follow in consecrating themselvesand their countries to Her

Immaculate Heart as Portugal, thePhilippines and Lebanon

have done.

Perhaps the graces earned, theconversions seen and the solace

found under the protective mantleof Our Lady will soon encourage all

nations to call for the Consecrationof Russia to Her Immaculate Heart

Prayer Accesses Divine GraceFor Our Souls

Our Catholicism, no matterhow superficial so long as we pray,

will access divine grace for our

souls and thus we are not totallyin the dark as are those who haveset aside the Faith in a mannerthat it no longer has anything todo with their lives.

From whence does the Catholicfaith draw its staying power

among Filipinos?For sure the religious psychology

of Filipinos has much to do withit, a religious psychology quitedifferent from that of those frompresent-day Western society[Ed. Note: who have lost theCatholic sense of devotion to theBlessed Virgin Mary] and whosedeepest longings are, to oneextent or another, satisfied bythe devotional life in the Church. A very noteworthy standout inPhilippine Catholic devotionallife is recourse and prayer to the

Blessed Virgin Mary.[The Shrines of Our Lady in

the Philippines are spread outamong many cities. For example,]

Piat in Cagayan, Namacpacanin La Union, Manaoag inPangasinan, Antipolo in Rizal,de Guia in Ermita, Consolacion

in Intramuros, del Carmen inQuiapo, Desamparados in Santa Ana, del Rosario and Lourdesin Quezon City, Perpetual Helpin Baclaran, de los Remediosin Pampanga, Penafrancia inBicol, de la Regla in Opon, Cebu,Candelaria in Jaro, del Pilar in

Zamboanga – these come to mind when we make a quick survey ofthe history of the Christianisationof these islands.

The evangelization of thePhilippines went apace with its“Marianization” and in a very

true sense, the conversion ofthese islands to the true Faith isunthinkable without the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is thus well withinthe bounds of reason to projectthat so long as the Filipinoperseveres in devotion to Mary,the Philippines will stay Catholic.

It is within this context of thedecisive role of Marian devotionin the evangelization of thePhilippines that we view thecollegial decision of the CatholicBishops’ Conference of thePhilippines in consecrating the

entire country to the ImmaculateHeart of Mary on June 8, 2013.

Reproduction Health BillDeals a Mortal Blow

The Church in the Philippineshad just been dealt a mortal

blow with the enactment of theReproductive Health Bill as alaw of the land. Going by theexperience of other countries withcontraception, the ReproductiveHealth Bill – now part of thelegal landscape of the country– will wreck home and family,

destabilizing marriage andtearing conjugal unions apart,corrupting youth into early viceand paving the way for the spreadof abortion whether accessible de

facto or legally de jure.

Our pastors are leading us to

the only , emphasize only, feasibledefense against the the RH Law.

1931 Consecration to MaryTransforms Portugal

There is the precedent of thePortuguese episcopacy in the1930s. Gathered around ManuelCardinal Cerejeira, the bishops ofPortugal gave public testimonyof their trustful devotion to OurLady. The Portuguese episcopacydecided that on May 13, 1931,a national pilgrimage organizedunder the direction of all the

bishops of Portugal wouldsolemnly consecrate their countryto the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Among other intentions duringthis national consecration, the

Portuguese bishops led theirpeople in praying:

“Intercede for Portugal, OurLady, in this troubled hour

when the unclean waves of anopen immorality, which haseven lost the notion of sin, exaltthe rehabilitation of the fleshin the face of the very Cross of

Your Son, threatening to chokein this world the lily of virtuenourished by the Eucharistic

Blood of Jesus. Virgin mostpowerful, pray for us!”

Portugal Transformed

On May 13, 1942, duringthe anniversary observanceof the apparitions, thePatriarch of Lisbon used verydefinite language:

“Yes, we are firmly convincedthat we owe the wonderfultransformation of Portugalto the protection of the MostHoly Virgin.”

Cardinal Cerejeira recalledthat it was the sheer numberof conversions that convincedhim and led to his belief in theauthenticity of Fatima:

“I was one of those who didnot believe in the miracle at thebeginning. To me it seemed like

a bad counterfeit of Lourdes ...Fatima, however, managed toovercome the prudent reserveof the Church ... The pilgrimagecontinually grew. It produced

more and more conversionsof unbelievers, and there wastalk of healings ... From myhouse ... when the twelfth andthirteenth would come duringpilgrimage months, I wouldsee continual processions ofautomobiles lasting for hours.

“This enthusiasm whichincreased from year to year,although it lacked all externalhelp, and was even opposed,

along with the knowledgeof miraculous facts and theabundance of spiritual fruits,began to shake my indifference...

“In 1928, I was elevated tothe episcopate and ... I began

to see the fervor aroused in theparishes by devotion to OurLady of Fatima. Some of mycolleagues in the episcopateused to say to me: ‘Go to Fatima,sit down in a confessionaland you will see.’ Really, thePentecost of conversions was

obvious.” [The Whole Truth About Fatima, Frère Michel dela Sainte Trinite]

The Philippines Now Needs HelpLike Portugal Received

Frère Michel, in commentingon the massive socio-moral

changes consequent on theapparitions and episcopalconsecration, observes:

“To save Portugal more

effectively and durably,Our Lady of Fatima was notcontent with converting soulsby leading each one to Godindividually. No, She wishedto make this land of Portugal

which was consecrated to Heronce more, a real country ofChristendom again, wheresocial and political lifeitself would be completelypermeated by the great light

of the faith and the energiesof divine grace, through theministry of the Church. PopePius XII was not afraid todescribe in eloquent terms thisradical change in national life,designating Our Lady of Fatimaas its original and true cause:

‘In a tragic hour of darknessand distress, when the ship ofstate of Portugal, having lostthe guide of her most glorioustraditions and driven off hercourse by anti-Christian andanti-national currents, seemedto be running for certain

shipwreck, unconscious ofpresent or future dangers ...Heaven, which foresaw thesedangers, intervened, and in thedarkness light shone out ...”

In view of the institutionalizat-ion of Reproductive Health

policies through the passage ofthe RH Law, is not the Philippinesin need of radical socio-moraltransformation? Is not politicsthe medium where those who

work against Family and Lifeare affecting most rapidly thesocio-moral changes and valuesin family life? Is the Philippines

not headed for certain shipwrecknow that the enemies of theFamily have the legal weapon touse with the full support of thestate apparatus to promote themaximum use of contraceptionand abortifacients? Is notPhilippine social and political life

needful of the light of the Faithand the converting energies ofdivine grace on a large scale?

Grace Comes To UsThrough Mary

Even earlier than the Fatimaapparitions of 1917, Pope Leo XIII,in his encyclical of September 22,1891, taught:

“therefore no less correctlycan one affirm that absolutelynothing of that great treasuryof all grace which the Lordbrought us (for ‘grace and and

truth came by Jesus Christ’)– nothing of it is given to usexcept through Mary, for suchis the will of God: so that justas no one can go to the MostHigh Father except through theSon in much the same way noone can come to Christ except

through His Mother.”

Nothing in the order of graceexcept through Mary – such is theteaching of this Pope which was

actualized in Portugal becauseher bishops decided to tap intothe one and only source ofgrace willed for us by the Savior

Himself. So dramatic was themoral conversion of their countrythat the Portuguese episcopacycharacterized in 1942 the changeto have been nothing short ofa “miracle”:

“Anybody who wouldhave closed his eyes twenty-

five years ago and openedthem now would no longerrecognize Portugal, so vast isthe transformation worked bythe modest and invisible factorof the apparition of the Blessed

Virgin at Fatima.” [Cardinal

Cerejeira]“Absolutely nothing of that

great treasury of all grace” ischanneled to us except throughMary – such is the teaching of PopeLeo XIII. This is the reason we donot hesitate to declare that thePhilippine bishops have set us on

the only possibly effective courseto counter the monumentalevils in contemporary society,the reversal and nullification ofRH being a priority concern. Wediscern that in the movement ofDivine Providence in our time

that any other response that doesnot incorporate or invoke Mary’suniversal mediation of grace inthe end will not be as efficaciousas that which acknowledges and

includes the Blessed Virgin’sunique intercessory role in ourlives as it is willed by God Himself.

The Portuguese bishops have

proven it to be so in 1931 and we have their testimony that ithas been so for their country inthe years following their nationalconsecration to the ImmaculateHeart, and we in the Philippinescan very well expect to reap aspiritual harvest of conversionsin proportion to the amount oftime, talent and resources we putbehind this consecration initiativeof the Philippine bishops.

We cannot fight those whooppose the Church as the RHpromoters do as they have all

the funds and resources and we have practically none; wecan, however, by God’s gracepassed through the conduit ofthe Immaculate Heart, convertthem. The RH network has all thematerial and financial resources;

we in the Marian and Pro-lifeMovement on the other hand haveall the spiritual resources, and allthat is necessary is to connect tothis link, the Immaculate Heartfrom whence all graces withoutexception are mediated to us.

The orthopraxis of Marian

consecration finds its doctrinalunderpinning in the teaching ofuniversal mediation in the orderof grace by the Blessed Mother

as has been handed down to usin the Church.

Thus, Mary, in Her apparitionsin the Philippines, could declare

that Her message at the Carmelof Batangas was the same asthat in Fatima, for the doctrineof universal mediation expressedin Lipa undergirds the devotionalpractice of Marian consecrationas asked for at Fatima. Lipa is theteaching, Fatima the application.

This Marian consecration ofJune 8, 2013 will hopefully be thebeginning of an ever deepeningoffering of ourselves to the Blessed

Virgin Mary by the imitation ofthe saints in their devotion to Her– St. Louis Grignion de Montfort

who leads us on in his 33 days ofMarian spirituality and an evermore inclusive outreach by thepropagation of the teachings ofthe Marian saints throughoutthe length and breadth of thearchipelago thus making the

Philippines ever more Herprecious and beloved Pueblo Amante de Maria.

Let us, with childlike faith,listen to that child seer of Fatima,Jacinta, who wished to urge oneand all and in her zeal echoedPope Leo XIII:

“Tell everybody that God grantsgraces through the ImmaculateHeart and that they must askthem from Her.” |

Last week we saw dramaticnew evidence of illegal

government surveillanceof our telephone calls, and ofthe National Security Agency’sdeep penetration into Americancompanies such as Facebookand Microsoft to spy on us. Themedia seemed shocked.

Many of us are not so surprised.Some of us were arguing back

in 2001 with the introduction ofthe so-called Patriot Act that it

would pave the way for massiveUS government surveillance —not targeting terrorists but rather

aimed against American citizens.We were told we must accept thistemporary measure to providegovernment the tools to catchthose responsible for 9/11. That

was nearly twelve years and atleast four wars ago.

We should know by now that when it comes to governmentpower-grabs, we never go backto the status quo even when the“crisis” has passed. That part of

our freedom and civil libertiesonce lost is never regained. How

many times did the Patriot Actneed to be renewed? How manytimes did Foreign IntelligenceSurveillance Act (FISA) authorityneed to be expanded? Why did we have to pass a law to grantimmunity to companies who hand

over our personal information tothe government?

It was all a build-up of thegovernment’s capacity tomonitor us.

The reaction of some inCongress and the Administration

to last week’s leak waspredictable. Knee-jerk defendersof the police state such as SenatorLindsey Graham declared thathe was “glad” the government

was collecting Verizon phonerecords — including his own —because the government needs

to know what the enemy is upto. Those who take an oath todefend the Constitution fromits enemies, both foreign and

government. What we want fromgovernment is to enforce the lawto protect our liberties.”

What most undermines the

claims of the Administrationand its defenders aboutthis surveillance program isthe process itself. First thegovernment listens in on all of ourtelephone calls without a warrantand then if it finds something,it goes to a Foreign IntelligenceSurveillance Act (FISA) court andgets an illegal approval for whatit has already done! This turnsthe rule of law and due processon its head.

The government does notneed to know more about

what we are doing. We needto know more about what thegovernment is doing.

We need to turn the cameras onthe police and on the government,not the other way around. Weshould be thankful for writers like

Glenn Greenwald, who broke last week’s story, for taking risks to letus know what the governmentis doing. There are calls forthe persecution of Greenwaldand the other whistle-blowersand reporters. They should bedefended, as their work defends

House Intelligence CommitteeChairman Mike Rogers tells us

of the tremendous benefits ofthis Big Brother-like program.He promises us that domesticterrorism plots were thwarted,but he cannot tell us about thembecause they are classified.

I am a bit skeptical, however. In

April, the New York Times reportedthat most of these domesticplots were actually elaboratesting operations developed andpushed by the FBI. According tothe Times report, “of the 22 mostfrightening plans for attacks since9/11 on American soil, 14 were

developed in sting operations.”Even if Chairman Rogers is

right, though, and the programcaught someone up to no good, we have to ask ourselves whethereven such a result justifiestrashing the Constitution. Here

is what I said on the floor of theHouse when the Patriot Act wasup for renewal back in 2011:

“If you want to be perfectlysafe from child abuse and wifebeating, the government couldput a camera in every one of our

houses and our bedrooms, andmaybe there would be somebodymade safer this way, but what

lend it to the governments ofunderdeveloped nations. Theyknow that these are risky loans, sothey charge an interest rate thatis high enough to compensate. Itis more than what they expect toreceive in the long run.

Enter the IMF andthe World Bank

2. When the underdevelopednations cannot pay the interest

on their loans, the IMF and

World Bank enter the game asboth players and referees. Usingadditional money created outof nothing by the central banksof their member nations, theyadvance “development” loansto the governments which now

have enough to pay the intereston the original loans withenough left over for their ownpolitical purposes.

Loan and InterestManipulation

3. The recipient country

quickly exhausts the new supplyof money, and the play returnsto point number two. This time,however, the new loans areguaranteed by the World Bankand the central banks of theindustrialized nations. Now thatthe risk of default is removed,the commercial banks agree toreduce the interest to the pointanticipated at the beginning.The debtor governments

industrialized nations are beingsubverted by that process.

That is not an accident; it isthe essence of the plan. A strongnation is not likely to surrenderits sovereignty. Americans wouldnot agree to turn over their

monetary system, their military,or their courts to a world bodymade up of governments whichhave been despotic to their ownpeople, especially since mostof those regimes have alreadyrevealed anti-American hostility.

But if Americans can bebrought to the point where theyare suffering from a collapseof their economy and from abreakdown in civil order, things

resume payments.

The Final Play

4. The final play is – well, in this

version of the game there appearsto be no final play, because theplan is to keep the game goingforever. To make that possible,certain things must happenthat are very final, indeed. Theyinclude the conversion of theIMF into a world central bank

as Keynes had planned, whichthen issues an international fiatmoney. Once that “Bank of Issue”is in place, the IMF can collectunlimited resources from thecitizens of the world throughthe hidden tax called inflation.The money stream then can besustained indefinitely – withor without the approval of theseparate nations – because they

will no longer have money oftheir own.

Economies Doomed

Since this game results in ahemorrhage of wealth fromthe industrialized nations,their economies are doomed tobe brought down further andfurther, a process that has beengoing on since Bretton Woods(1944). The result will be a severe

lowering of their living standardsand their demise as independentnations. The hidden realitybehind so-called development

will be different. When theystand in bread lines and faceanarchy in their streets, they

will be more willing to give

up sovereignty in return for“assistance” from the WorldBank and the UN “peacekeeping”forces. This will become evenmore acceptable if a structureddemise of Communism can bearranged ahead of time to makeit appear that the world’s major

political systems have convergedinto the common denominator of“social democracy.”

The underdeveloped nations,on the other hand, are not beingraised up. What is happening tothem is that their political leaders

are becoming addicted to the IMFcash flow and will be unable tobreak the habit. These countriesare being conquered by money

instead of arms. Soon they willno longer be truly independentnations. They are becomingmere components in the systemof world socialism planned byHarry Dexter White and JohnMaynard Keynes. Their leadersare being groomed to become

potentates in a new, high-techfeudalism, paying homage totheir lords in New York. And theyare eager to do it in return forprivilege and power within the“New World Order.” That is thefinal play.|

“Let Processions

Come Hither”By Susan Vennari

Late in the winter of 1890, asthe now-Venerable FatherNelson Baker looked over

the heating and lighting billsfor the various buildings he hadestablished in honor of Our Ladyof Victory – the orphanages, theschools, the convents, the homes– he reflected on the recentdiscoveries of natural gas in the

western New York area. Natural

gas was what he needed. Then he would be able to eliminate thosemajor expenses, and to directhis funds to the care of souls andother more useful work in honorof his beloved Lady of Victory, to

whose service he had dedicated

his priestly life.Taking this intention to his

Queen in many hours of prayer,he borrowed money from thediocese and made arrangementsfor drillers to meet him behindthe schools on a certain day. Heannounced a solemn high Mass

and procession in Her honor, to which all were invited.

That fateful day, as the drillersstood watching in the lot and

waiting to see the geologicalstudies which would show them

where to drill, the procession

meandered around them inno particular pattern, but allfollowing Father Nelson Baker.Suddenly Father Baker stopped;the children in “First Communionbest”, bearing flowers in OurLady’s honor, stopped. The Sistersof St. Joseph and the Brothers

of the Holy Infancy stopped.The men and women carryingbanners, who had been singingand reciting prayers to Our Ladyof Victory, stopped. With a most joyful countenance, Father Bakerturned to the astonished work

crew with the announcement,“Here is where you shall find gas.”

Drilling Against the Odds!

Over the next several weeks,Father Baker’s confidence inOur Lady of Victory was to bechallenged. By the end of the first

week after they had started, thedrillers were telling Father thatthere was no gas to be found. ButFather Baker smilingly told them

Baker as he was finishingBenediction. “Father,” he whispered, “they want you at the well. They think they’ve hit gas.”

Father Baker did not abandonthe altar, but finished all prayersbefore the Blessed Sacrament with fervent thanksgiving. By thetime he reached the well, those who had been at Benediction hadgathered around the work area inthe parish field, eager to see theoutcome. Although the drillersshowed Father Baker the signsof gas they had encountered,Father Baker insisted that theyquit for the evening because it was already late. No doubt Fatherhad many thanks to pray to Our

Lady of Victory that night.By the time the drillers reported

for work the next morning, theexcitement was palpable. Severalhundred families and locals hadgathered at the site, each tryingeagerly to get a good view. The

crew engaged the drills, and were barely two feet into thedrilling when the gas exploded,sending a water jet eighty feetinto the air. Although one soulperished in that explosion, thethree small children who wereprecariously injured – one of

whom was thrown fifty feet intothe air – recovered astoundingly,under the watchful prayers ofFather Baker.

By the end of the second week,the drillers were insisting to himthat no gas was to be found

on his land. But Father Bakerinstructed them to keep drilling.By the end of the fourth week,the newspapers were mockinglydescribing the activity at hisparish church as “Father Baker’sFolly”; the bishop was threateningto cut off any additional financialassistance on the project; and thedrillers were pleading with theredoubtable priest to save hismoney and cease drilling.

In response to all these whofaltered in their trust of Our Ladyof Victory, Father Baker reminded

his parishioners, “Sometimes itseems that She deliberately testsour faith by letting us wait forsuccess, but She never fails us.”

With July past and the Feastof Our Lady’s Assumptionapproaching, Father Baker led

the preparatory novena at hisparish. Many tried to second-guess Heaven and anticipated thediscovery of oil on that feast day,but the festival came and went without any success. Father Bakerimmediately started anotherpublic novena, with the intention

of the discovery of natural gas.

In the evening of August 21,the eighth day of the novena, amessenger approached Father

The gas well, along with asecond that was sunk nearbyin the following years, hascontinued to flow for more than

120 years, supplying the virtualtown of basilica, hospitals,schools, etcetera that belong tothe development of Our Ladyof Victory, in Lackawanna,New York (next to Buffalo).This extraordinary location, anacross-the-river neighbor to the

Fatima Center, is a symbol of theplenitude of graces God wants toimpart to His children throughOur Lady: although August 22,the date of the 1891 discovery,

was not, at that time, a feast dayon the liturgical calendar, we nowobserve the date as the Feast of the

Immaculate Heart.

Thus, it also vindicatespointedly Our Lord’s words toSister Lucy in 1936: “... I will thatMy whole Church acknowledgethat consecration [of Russia]as a triumph of the Immaculate

Heart of Mary, so as to extendits devotion later on and to placethe devotion to Her ImmaculateHeart alongside devotion to MySacred Heart.”

One might ponder theconfidence Father Baker had in

Our Lady of Victory. What if therehad been no miraculous discoveryof natural gas? Wouldn’t he – andOur Lady – have suffered publichumiliation? But perhaps that is

precisely what God wants us torisk for Him: our “face.” Whenpublic honor is given to AlmightyGod, such that man effectively

says, ‘I can do nothing by myself,’only then can God show, ininfinitude, both His omnipotenceand His love for Man.

Our Lady Wants Processions

Public procession is one of thechief honors man can offer God;

it is a type of prayer which hasgained many blessings from Godin man’s hour of need. Citieshave been saved and tides havebeen averted through publicprocessions and prayer. St. Louis,King of France, commanded manyprocessions during his Crusade tothe Holy Land.

A good priest on his shiptold him that, in his parish,

whenever he had had troublefrom drought or too much rain– in any trouble, indeed – he hadheld three processions on three

Saturdays, and immediately Godand His Mother had rid them ofthe trouble.

At that moment, his sailingships were suffering from thelack of any wind, and St. Louisimmediately ordered a solemn

procession around the deckof his ship. God answered hisprayers almost immediately;on several other occasionsreported by his biographer, St.
