FAT fashion Week

TRANSCRIPT

So I spent yesterday washing my hair, then curling my hair, then hating it and flat ironing my hair. I disputed over two outfit choices before settling on a red plaid tube dress and some tights. I tried on three pairs of heels and hated them all. I’m still cursing myself for my poor judgment in shoes that are sexy but not practical. All of this was done in anticipation of FAT Toronto Alternative Fashion week in the Distillery District.

We arrived a little after six and did the awkward walk around. We stood, we sat, and we crowded around in a circle and stared. We did the pee break, the smoke break, the drink break and the, “ Holy shit! That’s Sunny from Project Runway” break.

The show started when my friend pointed to the roof and giggled in amusement. Up on the rafters was a girl covered in glitter and sparkles doing what I can only describe as acrobatic robot dancing. I was impressed yet confused. The show began with Zuzanium and some very bendy acrobatic girls who awed me with their flexibility.

The first part of the show went off without a hitch. I don’t like to play favorites but an honorable mention goes to andal-lopez who wowed me with the punk-rock undertones in their collection and the array of stoner boys walking the runway.

I’d also like to say I enjoyed the music performance by Umbrella Mafia.

The second fashion showcase began at 8:45 with Amanda Rose. She had a collection of pale hues in a cute knit fabric. She also put up a silk screen to show the shadows of girls undressing to announce her undergarment collection.

Cherry Blossom, Romandin by Cristina Sabaiduc and Deadly Night Shades all put on a great performance. Again Honorable mentions to:
