Specialty Fasteners Sargent Aerospace & Defense is a premier manufacturer of high quality precision-threaded products, specialty fasteners, fuse pins and close tolerance precision, machined aerospace. Our Sonic ® fasteners are developed from round bar, with an expertise in custom design, high strength, flight critical, life-limited, safety-related products including: • Fuse Pins: Designed to mechanically shear in flight critical modes insuring structural maintenance • Specials: Custom-designs for a particular assembly with specific life or load limitations based on fatigue, stress, tensile or shear loads • Pawl Bolts: Designed with Pawl locking device to insure retention of nut and maintain integrity of the structure. • Torque Bolts: Designed to torque off at prescribed load, eliminating the need for torque wrenches • Hinge Pins: Designed with proprietary applied coatings (Tungsten Carbide) over light weight titanium substrate when wear resistance and weight are factors • Round Bar: Specialist in machining of most products from round bar utilizing the most modern precision equipment and engineering software Sonic ® fasteners are manufactured with the use of hot forging to create various head configurations and most simple protrusion geometries. Hot forging of the head provides both lower cost and superior mechanical properties when compared to similar machined components. Cost savings are achieved by the use of smaller bar stock for the forging blank which reduces material cost, and eliminates numerous machining operations. Enhanced fastener strength is realized by retaining uninterrupted grain flow at the critical interface between the fastener head and shank. Sargent’s Torrance, California facility, focused on specialty fastener production, is certified to industries standards including ISO9001, AS9100 and NADCAP. Specific capabilities at this location include destructive testing, non-destructive testing, a metallurgical laboratory on-site, special processes and hot forging.
