This extraor-dinary new unit functions as both an electronic dashboard and a data logger for vehicles running the FAST™ XFI™ Fuel Injection System. Optional acces-sories, such as the FAST™ Accelerometer and EGT modules and Dual Sensor Air/Fuel Meter - can all be monitored in combination with XFI™-based enginedata through the unit’s high-speed CAN bus. The XFI™ Touch Screen Dash/Data Logger features a 6-inch, fully programmable LCD touch screen display and has the ability to display its data in a mul-titude of scales, units and gauge configurations for your viewing convenience. Its attractive, easy to use and durable backlit display is highly visible andcan be user-customized to a wide variety of configurations at the mere touch of a finger or stylus. Engineered to work with any level of vehicle modifica-tion from stock to all-out race, the XFI™ Touch Screen Dash/Data Logger is able to monitor and display output from a variety of different input sources,including frequency (rpm, wheel speed etc.), analog input and sources that require programmable input parameters such as MAP and MAF. ECU Data Logger Our advanced remote ECU Data Logger eliminates the need to have a laptop computer in the vehicle to capture and record sensor data. Performanceenthusiasts can use the data logger to capture a vast range of performance related data for subsequent download to a computer. The user can thenevaluate and modify a wide range of parameters to fine tune engine performance without having to lift the hood. The FAST™ ECU Data Logger recordsup to 30 minutes of sensor data from as many as 24 sensors, making this the most powerful and practical new engine tuning tool available.

Starting a data log is also significantly easier. Rather than having to reach over to a laptop keyboard, the user can establish an automatic trigger pointrelated to a specified sensor level. A push-button trigger can also be added for mounting on the steering wheel, shifter, dashboard or other conven-ient location.

The FAST™ ECU Data Logger includes C-Com WP™ software designed for use with FAST™ bank-to-bank and sequential fuel injection (SEFI) engine man-agement systems. The C-Com WP™ software allows for simultaneous display and editing of fuel maps, timing curves, enrichment tables and data logs.

Q: What are the advantages and differences between the new XFI™ unit and my older style “classic” FAST™ system?A. The XFI™ computer processor is four times faster than the “classic” system, allowing it to control more features simultaneously. The new XFI™ system

uses a 104 pin wire harness versus a 60 pin wire harness on the “classic” system; again, these additional pins allow more features and devices to be con-trolled by the XFI™. Additionally, performance features that had to be purchased separately with the “classic” FAST™ system are now included with XFI™ atno additional cost. Just click on the features you want to control in the included tuning software, i.e. four stage power adder control, boost control, trac-tion control, etc. The XFI™ can also be run in either batch fire or sequential mode. If you choose sequential mode, you will automatically have individual cylinder control of both spark and fuel.

Q: Can my older “classic” FAST™ system be upgraded to an XFI™?A. Due to the vast differences in design, the “classic” FAST™ system cannot be upgraded to an XFI™.

Q: With the new XFI™ system, do I need a separate data logger?A. The XFI™ does not include an internal data logger, but will record to a laptop when connected. If your application doesn’t allow for the laptop to be connected

during operation, FAST™ offers an easy to use external data logger that simply plugs into the XFI™. The external data logger will record up to 30 minutes of information, which you can then download later to your laptop for viewing.

Q: I have an older “classic” FAST™ system, and I want to upgrade to the XFI™. Can I just purchase the ECU and re-usemy existing FAST™ harness?

A. Unfortunately, the “classic” FAST™ system has a 64 pin harness and the new XFI™ system has a 104 pin harness, so a new XFI™ specific harness will be required.

Q: What’s the difference between “batch firing” or “bank-to-bank” vs. “sequential” systems? What’s better? Which doI need?

A. Batch fire systems fire all the injectors simultaneously. Bank-to-bank systems fire the fuel injectors in “banks”; half of them fire on one engine revolution and theother half fire the next engine revolution. A sequential system fires the fuel injector for each individual cylinder in the firing order of the engine. In most cases, bankfiring will be fine, but if you’re using an extremely radical camshaft, high boost, or over 600 horsepower, you might find sequential to be a slightly better fit. It willusually make marginally more power and help some radical engines idle better.

Q: Do the Perfect Circuit™ Wiring Harnesses work with the XFI™ system?A. No, Perfect Circuit™ Harnesses are designed to connect to factory based O.E.M. computers only.

Q: In what applications do you use a Perfect Circuit™ Harness and a factory computer vs. the XFI™ system?A. This can be purely based on preference, but if you’re building a nice street rod with a stock or very lightly modified EFI type “crate motor” and won’t be

doing any tuning yourself, then a factory computer with one of our custom tunes, coupled with a Perfect Circuit™ Wiring Harness, will work well. But, if youare searching for the ultimate in power on a high-performance application, a fully tunable XFI™ system will achieve the most horsepower and be the mostflexible with future changes.

Q: What separates the Perfect Circuit™ Wiring Harnesses from the competition?A. The higher overall quality of these harnesses makes them the hands down choice when you are looking for the ultimate in fit, reliability and ease of installa-

tion. Weather-pack type connectors are used throughout, wires are fully wrapped in heat sheathing and everything is properly tagged and terminated, puttingour harnesses in a class by themselves.

Q: You show 3 different styles of ECU programming: standard, mild and high performance. What are the differencesand how do I know what I need?

A. While all programming levels are designed and intended to extract a maximum increase in performance, most often times the engine’s camshaft will play thedetermining factor on what level of computer tuning is needed. The more radical the cam, the more likely you’ll need to get bumped up to the next level of tuning. Additionally, the use of superchargers, turbos or nitrous will affect how the computer is tuned. In most cases, boosted or nitrous assisted engines willrequire either the upper level mild or high performance tunes. Our tuning includes removing the Vehicle Anti Theft System (VATS), turning off the rear O2 sen-sors, optimizing the fuel and ignition curves, setting optimized shift points on electronic automatic transmissions and recalibrating speedometer readings for modified gear ratios or taller tires.

Q: What is the difference between FAST-FLASH™ Programmers and the competition?A. While FAST-FLASH™ Programmers can be used to optimized stock vehicles just like our competition, the FAST-FLASH™ Programmer is the only one avail-

able that offers an additional camshaft tuning feature that’s already built into the programmer. This exclusive Cam Tuner™ Technology allows you to installmost performance street camshafts and then instantly update your factory computer with the correct settings to optimize power, torque, fuel economy andidle quality.

Limited Warranty

Fuel Air Spark Technology (FAST™) warrants that all of its products are free from defects in material and workmanship, for a period of one year. The

warranty period begins from the date of purchase. We recommend that you keep your invoice or receipt because proof of purchase date is required.

This limited warranty shall only cover the original purchaser.

The warranty does not include the following:

A. Any product that has been physically altered improperly installed or maintained.

B. Any product used in an improper application, abused or not used in connection with the proper parts.

C. Any product that is defective due to neglect, unauthorized repair or as the result of an accident.

There is no implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. The FAST™ obligation under this warranty is limited to the repair

or replacement of its products. There are no warranties that extend beyond the description on the face of this warranty. FAST™ will not be responsi-

ble for incidental, consequential, indirect, special or exemplary damages or any third-party claims or property damage or personal damages result-

GLOSSARY OF TERMS

Glossary of Common EFI Terms“Controller Area Network” - An electronic hardware standard that permits simplified, high speed interfacing between electronic control units

CAN in a vehicle environment. For example, the FAST™ XFI™ system can communicate with the FAST™ Transmission Controller through the use ofits CAN bus.

ECU“Engine Control Unit” - A vehicle-mounted engine control computer that varies engine behavior such as fuel injector activity, idle speed,air/fuel ratio, ignition timing, etc. based on input from an array of sensors including O2, TPS, and others.

“Electronic Fuel Injection” - A means of injecting fuel into the intake manifold of an internal-combustion engine using various types of fuel EFI injectors that are controlled by an ECU (see below). EFI takes many forms, including throttle body injection (TBI) where a carburetor-like throt-

tle body houses the injector(s), and port injection, where rail-mounted fuel injectors feed into each runner of the engine intake manifold.

MAP“Manifold Absolute Pressure” - An engine sensor that measures intake manifold vacuum. Generally measured in bars, MAP data is used to measure engine load, which in turn allows the ECU to regulate engine behavior such as fuel supply and air/fuel ratio.

O2“Oxygen” - Commonly used either as a shorthand term for an oxygen sensor or to describe oxygen as it is measured in engine exhaust gases.O2 data is primarily used by an ECU for the purpose of regulating the engine air/fuel ratio.

TCU“Transmission Control Unit” - A vehicle-mounted transmission control computer that varies transmission behavior such as shift points, shift firmness, downshifting and torque converter lockup based on engine load, vehicle speed and other variables.

“Throttle Position Sensor” - An electronic sensor, generally mechanically linked to the throttle body of an EFI engine for the purpose of meas-

TPSuring how far the throttle is opened when the vehicle operator steps on the vehicle throttle pedal. Throttle position data is generally expressedin terms of percentage and plays an important role in many ECU functions, not to mention determining when power adders such as nitrous are deployed.

VATS“Vehicle Anti-Theft System” - An anti-theft circuit built into most GM fuel injection ECUs made after 1989. VATS must be bypassed with a special chip in order for some EFI engines to run when swapped from one vehicle to another.

“Vehicle Speed Sensor”- An electronic speed sensor, generally mounted in the output shaft housing of a transmission (a VSS may also be VSS mounted at a wheel or other location). VSS data is used by both ECUs and TCUs for a variety of purposes, including torque converter lockup,

downshifting, etc.
