O Lord, you search us and know us;
we praise you, O God, our Maker.

we are the work of your hands.
Let us worship God.

*Prayer of Confession
Sovereign God,
we confess that we have not turned away from sin.
We follow the advice of the wicked
and scoff at those who do good.
We make plans we cannot complete
and promises we will not fulfill.
Forgive us, God of grace.
Refresh and renew our hearts,
so we may seek your will
and do all the good we can;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(prayer continues)
* Kyrie #574 Lord, Have Mercy Upon Us Johnson
*Declaration of Forgiveness
*The Response #579 Gloria Patri Greatorex

(Kids up to age 10 are invited to attend Children’s Church in Room 2)
Prayer for Illumination
God of wisdom, by your Spirit speak this day a word of life, and
plant in us the power of your righteous love; through Jesus Christ,
our Lord. Amen.
First Scripture Reading Luke 14:25-33
The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, O Christ.
Psalm 139 Dr. Angela Batey, cantor Hopson
You know when I rise up; you know when I rest; you read my thoughts from far away.
You watch over each step; you know when I sleep; you are acquainted with all my ways. (R)
Even before a word is on my lips, you know what is in my heart.
You are before me and behind me, and all around me; you lay your hand upon me. (R)
Every part of me, O Lord, you created; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I will praise you for the wonder of my being, for the wonder of all you have made. (R)
Lord, you know me through and through; you saw me before I was born;
My days were recorded in your book even before my days were to come. (R)
How dear to me are your thoughts, O God; I could never count them.
I could not count them any more than I could count the sand,
and if I could, you would still be with me. (R)
Second Scripture Reading Jeremiah 18:1-11
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Sermon “Reshaped” Rev. Matt Nieman
~The Response~
*Hymn Have Thine Own Way, Lord Pollard/Stebbins
(see printed version on last page)
Anthem (11:00) He Leadeth Me Benjamin Wegner
Chancel Choir
He leadeth me, O blessed thought. O words with heavenly comfort fraught! Whate’er I do,
where’re I be, still ‘tis God’s hand that leadeth me.
Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom, sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom, by
waters calm, o’er troubled sea, still ‘tis God’s hand that leadeth me.
Refrain: He leadeth me, by his own hand he leadeth me.
His faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me.
Lord, I would clasp thy hand in mine, nor ever murmur nor repine, content with whatever
lot I see, since ‘tis my God that leadeth me. Refrain
And when my task on earth is done, when by thy grace the victory’s won,
e’en death’s cold wave I will not flee, since God through Jordan leadeth me. Refrain
The Offering

*Congregational Response #358 Help Us Accept Each Other Baronita

Be present, Lord, among us and bring us to believe
We are ourselves accepted and meant to love and live.
