DETAILS

Design: Farr 46 Performance Cruiser Builder: Ken Jago / Mal Hart, Mordiallic, Melbourne, Australia Launched: August 1988 Type: Centre cockpit performance cruiser, fractional sloop, Construction: Composite foam sandwich LOA: 14.1 m LWL: 12.5 m Beam: 3.94 m Draught: 2.74 m Displacement: 9,880 kg (empty) Ballast: 2,800 kg D/L: 153 Stability Index: 120.9 Sail Area: 91.4 m2 S/D: 20.2 IRC TCC (2015): 1.095 (furling head sail) REGISTRATION Country: Australia Home Port: Fremantle O/N: 853063 Lying: Phuket/NZ GST: Pre GST Australian yacht; GST paid if sold in NZ SURVEY: Meets Australian and New Zealand Cat 1 requirements (2015) FROM THE OWNER

I purchased Mustang Sally in 1995 and haave cruised and raced her extensively with friends and family with no expense spared in maintaining the vessel in sound condition throughout that time. Safety gear, including ground tackle, has been continuously upgraded and she is maintained to Australian and New Zealand Cat 1 requirements (last certificate 2015).

Since 1995 she has proved herself as a fast, seaworthy passage maker completing Australia, New Zealand and global circumnavigations, with average daily runs of 180 – 200 miles per day trade wind sailing readily achievable under white sails only. Her best noon to noon run has been 255 nautical miles racing and about 210 miles cruising. To windward she is a solid performer generally maintaining 150 miles per day in cruising mode, much to envy of most of the cruising fleet heading up the Red Sea in 2004.

She has competed in 3 Sydney Hobarts and numerous other offshore races and international regattas. Highlights have included winning the Siska Trophy (Western Australian Offshore Champion) and the Fremantle to Lombok race on IRC and IMS in 1997, the Auckland to Noumea Race Cruising Division 2002, Antigua Sailing Week Cruising Division in 2005 and the Fremantle to Bali Cruising Rally in 2015.

She is well fitted out and a comfortable cruising yacht with an excellent cockpit for entertaining. She is set up for single or double handed sailing with all controls back to the cockpit. The owner is only selling her after 21 years because having moved back on board on an open ended cruise with partner and 6 year old son he would like at the age of 70 to have more space, a more sedate motion, and more mechanical aidsin deference to his age. She is currently lying in Phuket 15 months into a cruise departing NZ in November 2014 and is in sail away condition. Mustang Sally will appeal to someone who likes to cruise and race from time to time with a bit of panache.
