farming-primitive and modern : a comparison
TRANSCRIPT
Agriculture and farming have been the main occupation of people all over the world throughout the years in History. But in the olden times, the farming systems and processes were completely different from the modern times. Technology were not improved and machines were not utilized much in the olden times. But to fulfill the needs of modern world with a huge population, rapid changes have occurred.
So in this presentation, we are going to discuss about the differences in the modern farming methods in comparison with old methods.
In olden type of agriculture, less chemical
fertilizers were used; instead the green manures
were used much. But now-a-days more chemical
pesticides, weedicides, fertilizers etc. are used.
In the olden times, Agriculture hugely depended
on human labour and lacked farming techniques.
But as we can see now, agriculture now uses a
lots of machines in almost all works.
Bad quality seeds were used in farming in the
olden days but now much better quality seeds
are used for resistance to disease or high yield.
Due to the improvements of techniques and ideas in modern agriculture, now the agricultural yield is very high in the fields. Even in small land holdings, much produce of crops can be done due to improved agricultural methods.
Less human labour is needed in the modern agriculture.
The use of machines enable the agricultural processes to be done in a large part of land or in huge areas of cropland.
As more crops are produced, including surplus crops, cash crops can be grown by the farmers which brings extra profit for them as well as will avail us with other products like jute, tea, coffee etc.
The modern pesticides, weedicides, insecticides, etc. protect the crops from diseases and let them live longer for right yield. But we have to keep check on the amount of chemical fertilizers used in fields.
More and more pollution is occurring in soil, water, air due to the use of extensive machines that emit harmful smoke and leave poisonous residues.
The fossil fuels are also getting used up more quickly as mostly all machines use up a lot of fuels all over the world.
The crops are getting poisoned due to excessive use of chemical fertilizers that are harmful to us.
The nature is depleting gradually due to the extensive use of man made and chemical components.
