PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Dear Parents and Friends,
Welcome to another week of news from Heathcote PS!
This coming Saturday, our school is holding a stall at the Farmers Market to sell seedling and plants that the students have grown during their Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden classes. We have also been asked to coordinate the BBQ for the market, so we are urgently in need of people to help us run the BBQ and SAKGP Stall.
We also need someone who has a tow ball on their car who could transport our BBQ down to the Barrack Reserve at 8.00am in the morning. Helpers are needed from 8.00am through to about 2.00pm. If we have more helpers we will be able to spread the workload out over this time period.
All proceeds from the day will go into keeping the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program running, so we really need your support.
If you can help, please contact the school this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
I would like to thank all our families for coming along to watch our Athletics Carnival last Friday and supporting our students. I would also like to thank all our students for their wonderful behaviour and for trying their best in all events.
Don’t forget to call into the CoGB Council Office to see the Art Exhibition over the holidays. The students have entered some wonderful pieces in the exhibition and there are also plenty of pieces from local community members that are well worth a look.
Helpers are needed for the Food & Wine Festival to man the gates, clean the area, direct traffic and other roles. If you would like to help out, and help raise funds for the school, please contact Wendy Cahill on 0487323 450 Kind Regards,
Cindi Bruechert

FAMILY STATEMENTS
As part of our Sun Smart Policy we require all children to wear wide brimmed hats at school during Terms 1 and 4. If your child does not have a hat with them at school they will be required to stay under the veranda area and they will not be permitted to play outdoors. Hats are available from the office for $10.00 each.
Families are reminded that the Education Department does not provide personal accident insurance or ambulance cover for students. Parents and guardians of students, who do not have student accident insurance / ambulance cover, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance/transport and any other transport costs. These costs may be recoverable from the Department where an injury is caused by the negligence (carelessness) of the Department, a school council or their employees or volunteers. Student accident insurance/ambulance cover policies are available from some commercial insurers, and can be obtained by parents/guardians for individual students.

STORIES FROM PREP—2 and PHOTOS
Emus Emus are big birds. They have a long neck and long feet. They lay eggs. The eggs are sort of green. They are two metres. I like them. They do not fly . Emus sit on their eggs. By Samantha Emus Emus are the biggest emus in the world. Emus are very tall. Emus are born in a nest. By Ami-May The Cushion On Sunday I made a cushion out of felt. It has flowers on one side and laybugs on the other side. I used pur-ple cotton and I did blanket stitch. Then I cut out a heart. It was orange. I stuck it on with PVA glue. Next I stuffed it with leftover felt. Then I put it on top of my pillow. My favourite soft toy sleeps on it now. Then I played on my new scooter and I practised riding my roller skates. I also rode my bike around the farm. The chickens dug a hole and rolled around it. They were having a dust bath. Next it was dinner time. We had spa-ghetti. Yum! Yum! Yum! By Ellie Athletics Day On Friday we went to the athletics. It was at Holy Rosary. I liked high jump. I was in the blue team. I came second. I liked by ribbon. It was a
red ribbon. By Antz I went to the sports and my favourite was the high jump. I was in the red team. It was fun. I had highlighter on my face. It was fun. By Erica
