was born sometime between the 12th and 8th centuries BC, possibly somewhere on the coast of Asia Minor. He is famous for the epic poems The Iliad and The Odyssey, which have had an enormous effect on Western culture.

ILIAD SUMMARYIn the tenth and final year of the Trojan War. Achilles the greatest Achaean warrior had a quarrel with Agamemnon which made him refused to fight against Trojans. With Achilles out of the way,Hector, champion of the Trojans, drove the Achaeans back to their stranded ships.Patroclus, deceived everyone by putting on Achilles' armor, he drove the Trojans back all the way to their own city walls, but there Hector killed him with the help of Apollo.

After Knowing this Achilles went crazy with grief and rage. Thetis warned him that if he would kill Hector, he would die soon afterward. Achilles accepted his own life as the price for revenge.
