A fantasy/science fiction book is a story that may contain the use of magic, talking animals, mythical creatures, or other fictional beings. The setting may take place in a futuristic, fantastic, or medieval universe.

Directions: Read the assignment thoroughly before beginning. Make a plan and give yourself plenty of time to read and get your project completed. Your

1.  Select a fantasy/science fiction book. The book must be approved by your teacher.

2.  Read the book. You may want to take notes as you read. You can do this by

writing on post-it notes and posting them to the pages of the book. You may also take notes in a journal. Look for elements of fantasy as you read.

You will use your GO to write your summary and make sure all elements are included in your final project. a. Title of your book b. Author c. Main characters - described in detail (these are the characters that impact the story) d. Supporting characters - described in detail (only ones that would change the stories outcome if they were taken out of the story) e. Setting(s) of the book - described in detail. f. elements required in your report. Ideas:

* Travel brochure * Poster

* PowerPoint * Movie poster

* your own idea (teacher approval needed) 6.  Grading sheet – this is a great tool to use as you do your project.

Check off each item as you do it so you know you have included all the elements.
