British attempted to move south from Canada. Horatio Gates was

the American general. The British surrendered at Saratoga. It was called the turning pint of

the war because the French joined the American side after

this battle.

Saratoga starts with a S which has a lot of turns which helps me remember that it was the turning

point of the war.

contained a lot of powder and supplies. Congress was dismayed that the

British were moving in to the Hudson River Valley.
