Saratoga starts with a S which has a lot of turns which helps me remember that it was the turning

point of the war.

British General Cornwallis on the Yorktown peninsula and he

surrendered.

I remember that Yorktown is the last

battle of the war because it starts with Y which is at the end of

the alphabet.

Fort captured in 1777 by British officer John Burgoyne. The fort

contained a lot of powder and supplies. Congress was dismayed that the

British were moving in to the Hudson River Valley.

Also an early battle occurred here where

Benedict Arnold, Ethan Allen and the Green

Mountain Boys captured cannons for the

Continental Army.
