Famous Michigan Persons Did you know that there are so many famous people in 

Michigan? Well our third grade class is presen<ng 5 of them. Charles Lindbergh was a hero pilot, Henry Ford is a very 

famous inventor, Thomas Edison was famous for inven<ng the light bulb, John Harvey Kellogg was a new type of doctor and helped create the Kellogg cereal company, and lastly, Gerald Ford was a famous president of the United States! 

These are the famous people we’ll tell you about.

Thomas Edison Timeline Thomas Edison’s nick name was the wizard of Menlo Park.

 Thomas Edison was born in February 11, 1847, at Milan Ohio.  

 When Thomas Edison was 7 years old his family moved to Port Huron Michigan 

  Thomas Edison got his first job selling newspapers on aYain at the age of 12.

John h. Kellogg had many family members, here are a few. John was married to ELLA EATON. They were married on February 22, 1879. His brother w.k. Kellogg made Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes!! MMMM!! He and Ella soon had kids. Their names were… Karl hugh, jhohn l. lenord, William keith, elizibeth ann, and Ervin hadly. William and Ervin died when they were very young! So sad ain’t it?

Henry Ford’s Jobs Henry Ford had many jobs. Henry took apart his brother, John’s toy when he was young. John was devastated un<l Henry promised to fix it. But before you know it Henry put it back together. That was the first thing Henry fixed. 

 His first (fake) job was when his neighbor asked him to fix a watch. He fixed it! And guess what, he did it right!!! Aher that a lot of people asked him to fix things. 

 As soon as henry got liYle older he went into his dads friend’s shop and asked if he could work there. He said yes but he didn’t want people seeing a kid working there. So… he got a liYle office in the back room.

 As Henry grew his mind did too. Henry and his wife Clara got a piece of land that his dad lent him. That is where he made his first car. 

 His first real job was at Detroit Illumina<ng Company. He walked right in and got the job. PreYy soon aher that the head of the company re<red. He asked henry if he wanted to take his place. OF CORSE henry said yes. 

 Then some of the people that worked for Henry quit because the company wanted to make bigger cars. So then Henry opened up a company named aher him.

Gerald Ford’s Growing up  Gerald Ford accomplished many things. He was born in July 14th 1913, Omaha 

Nebraska. His parent got divorced when he was very young. He went with his mother to grand rapids MI. his mother got re married to Gerald R. Ford Sr. when he was a child he changed his name to Gerald R. Ford Jr. Gerald was the oldest child in his family. He was a good student and great athlete!!! He was also a boy scout. He didn’t have enough money to go to college but ended up going to U of M for his bachelor and went to Yale for law school. He became are 38th president! Then he died in 2006 at the age of 93. He had many more accomplishments in his life but these are just a few of them!!!
