The following

are examples

of

interventions I

created with

the help of the

families I

serve.

Not all of the

parts are

original but

the sum of

each

intervention is

original to me.

The following are pages from

a booklet I made with a

mother of 3 girls (12, 8, & 2).

She wanted to insti l l in them

family values that she was

never introduced to by her

mother.

This booklet (given to each

girl) was a chance for the

mother to talk to the girls

about the values and praise

them for exhibiting them in

their l ives.

The beauty of this is that it is

completely unique to the

family. They choose the

values they want to focus on

at that time.

This booklet was

made for a mother

who didn’t praise her

children. She said she

found it hard to

remember to vocalize

her praise.

I made one booklet

for everyone of her

children (each had

their own color).

I challenged the mom

to fi l l in a praise for

each child at the end

of every day and then

give it to them on a

special occasion.

I made the Peaceful Family

Pledge for a single mother

family with 6 kids (5 boys and

one girl) . The mother had

called the police because of

the fighting going on

between the boys.

I had the mom call a family

meeting. Each child

contributed the “Respecting”

& “Encouraging” sections.

Then each family member

signed their name.

The pledge was hung on the

wall .

This booklet was a way for me

to get parents to read to

their child. Often, parents

would complain that they had

barriers to buying or

borrowing books for their

child.

This book promotes

communication, bonding, and

fine motor skil ls .

Most of the time I would

laminate the book or place

the pages in zip lock

sandwich bags and bind them

with duct tape. That way the

baby could mouth the book.

This is a booklet I made for a

toddler with speech delay. It

is a texture book that I

laminated and made pockets

that held the texture

example.

I created the front cover a

dragon b/c the dragon was a

special symbol for this family.

I l ike this activity because it

promotes sensory

exploration, communication,

and bonding between the

parent and child.

This is a sign that I made for

a family of 4 kids, all under

the age of 4 years!

The mom had trouble keeping

one of the children on a

consistent eating schedule

and as a result she was

diagnosed as “Failure to

Thrive” at 2 years old. This

sign helped the child look

forward to and prepare

herself to eat.

This sign was placed with

magnets on the refrigerator

and the children took turns

placing the different activities

in place on the sign.

This is a poster that

I made with a mom

having trouble

leaving her child

with others (even

the dad).

We made the board

to communicate in

a visual way what a

caregiver could do

with the baby to

entertain and calm

them.

I provided the

layout and mom

f i l led in the details .

This is an example of

one of the closure

activit ies I l ike to do

with families.

It ’s parts aren’t

original but the way

I arrange them are.

I bring out the

poster with the

quote on it and have

the family paint it .

The mom &/or dad

is the trunk of the

tree. The child(ren)’s

f inger prints are the

leaves.
