STELLA MARIS FAMILY FUN DAY

3 WEEKS TO GO. Welcome back to Term 1 2014 and a big welcome to all our new families that have joined the school community this year. For those who aren’t aware the Family Fun Day is our major fundraising event for the year. With all the proceeds going towards the continued development of our outdoor environment. With just 3 Weeks to go the excitement is building. Let the kids defy gravity and test out their screams and laughter on the medley of whizzing carnival rides big and small. Or let them try their hand at the many action-packed games, the raffle, crafts and amusements. Guaranteed smiles with many prizes to go round! While the kids go crazy, be sure to snap up the monster bargains. With a marketplace with plenty of stalls, pre-loved toys and books, there’s something for everyone. Enjoy a smorgasbord of food, feast on delectable homemade goodies, and the fete-treats we have come to love – fairy floss, slushy’s, sausages, baked potatoes, pizza and more.

Master of Ceremonies – Dangerous Dave We are very excited to announce that we have secured Dangerous Dave Williams from Triple M as our Master of Ceremonies. Dangerous Dave is the weekly 9am to Midday Radio announcer and also has children at Stella Maris. We have also Robbie Gualtieri who has also generously donated his time to MC part of our day.

The Great Stella Cookie Bake-Off We are on the hunt for Stella Maris’ most Amazing Cookie. We are asking families to enter a batch of their BEST cookie on the morning of Wednesday 12th February. A panel of judges will taste and select the winning cookie, which will become the OFFICIAL COOKIE of the 2014 Stella Maris Family Fun Day! The winner will not only get to name the cookie, but will also receive one unlimited rides wristband for use at the Fun Day. The winning cookie recipe will be shared with all Stella Maris families, and we would love for as many families as possible to bake up a batch to be sold at the Fun Day.

FACE PAINTERS

We need 10 volunteers who must be available on the Fun Day to learn how to paint 6 different face pictures like those shown. We are having a couple of training sessions in the next week. If you are interested and will be available on the day for a couple of hours, please email your interest to pfa@stellamaris.catholic.edu.au

Spinning Wheel Donations

Also required are spinning wheel donations. A few examples of items required are:

Household / Kitchen / bathroom / Garden items – ie, tea towels, tongs, measuring cups,

recipe books, bath room accessories, candles, platters, mugs, wine glasses, beach

towels, shovels, gloves, secateurs, rakes, seeds, pots just to name a few.

 PLANTS  We are hoping by this stage, that all the seedlings that you have cultivated are now growing into decent plants. But keep them going. We are hoping to have a bigger and better plant stall than ever before. Please deliver your plants to school by Friday 28 February.

 

FUN DAY RAFFLE You should now have received your Raffle tickets. There will be more books to collect at the school office once you sell the first lot. Raffle will be drawn on Friday 7th March at 10am. (Please Note, raffle will not be drawn on Fun Day) Each ticket will be $2.00

Rides / Attractions  We hope you are as excited as we are with the announcement of some amazing rides coming our way this year. As you see below we have the Cha Cha, Water Balls, Chair O Plane, plus much more.

This year we are introducing “Toddler Town” to the Family fun Day. This will be an area where children 4yrs and under can go in and have a great time without the hassle of the older children getting in the way.

WRISTBANDS

Wristbands will be pre-sale only. Therefore don’t forget to purchase your wristbands as they won’t be available on the day. Forms will be going home shortly.

We have 2 different types of wristbands this year and below are the cost and what they are able to be used on.

Junior Wristbands (up to 4yrs old) $15.00 – Trackless train, Jumping Castle, Toddler Town, Animal Farm.

Senior Wristbands - $25.00 – Cha Cha, Chair O Plane, Water Balls, Animal Farm, Jumping Castle

 

TICKET SALES

Everything you wish to purchase at the fun day you will need to have a ticket.

Each ticket is worth $1.00 or 11 tickets $10, or 25 tickets for $20.

These tickets will be available at the Ticketing booth.

We have also acquired the use of an eftpos machine (no cash out) for use on the day.

Side Show Alley is back!! We are pleased to announce that Side Show Alley is making a come back this year. There are lots of new and exciting games for everyone to enjoy, Including, Nerf Shooting, Pick A Stick, Pluck A Boat, Choc Frog Toss, Wine Toss and much more.

Craft Activities

This year we are introducing a couple of new and fun Craft activities for the kids to enjoy and take home. There will be plaster painting, Make your own kite, Poster Painting and Sand Art.

Below are just some of the show bags that will be available for purchase at the fun day for $10 each.

 

Stage Entertainment

We have booked a number of performers for our entertainment during the day from club demonstrations for Karate to Cheerleading. We have also been able to secure the likes of Comedian Gab Rossi (as pictured). Gab Rossi is a popular comedian around Melbourne and plays each year at the Comedy Festival.

Please keep an eye out for more information once the times and performances are confirmed.

Market Stalls If anyone is still interested in having a Market Stall at the Fun day, spaces are filling fast. Please contact us via pfa@stellamaris.catholic.edu.au for an application form to be sent.

Volunteers Needed The Family Fun Day is only 3 weeks away, on the 1st of March, between the hours of 10am-4pm. We have broken the day up into 2hr slots beginning at 8:30am (to help with set up) and finishing at 5:30pm (to help with clean up). Please keep an eye out in your child's learning areas for signup sheets. We have also sent home a flyer if you can't make it in to the school for you to fill in. The learning area that can fill their time slots in first will be the winner and each child in that class will win a free slushy to have at the fun day.
