A Note from Pyela Mwale, our General Manager: A big thank you to all friends and family that have supported Cherry Trees for the last 7 months. Please be assured that at Cherry Trees our vision is to ensure on-going improvement on the delivery of high standards of care and your support has clearly played a big role in achieving this. Family & Friends Meetings The minutes from the last meetings are attached and we will be holding the next meetings on: 20 th November 2013 at 18.00 16 th January 2014 at 18.00 19 th March 2014 at 18.00 It would be very helpful if you could confirm attendance on the tear off slip attached, telephone or email us to let us know if you are able to attend. This slip can also be used to advise us of any change in your emergency contact details so we can ensure our records are up to date. Activities: We have held many events at Cherry Trees in the last few months, including the Macmillan Coffee Morning which raised £93.00 for the very worthwhile cause. Talk like a Pirate Day was great fun with many of our residents and staff dressing up. There was a mini bus trip to Cosford Aircraft Museum where some residents enjoyed the tour and lunch out. The Alcester Mop Fair was well attended by residents and carers and for once the weather held out it didn’t rain! The Beach Party themed fete and tombola raised £225 for the Alcester Alzheimers Café which Cherry Trees are delighted to be involved with so thanks to everybody that took part, spent money, and helped out. We have been doing some Halloween artwork with our residents celebrating the supper time event on the 31st and we have also invited everyone to our Circle of Light Service at 3.00pm. We also had a day with 18 volunteers from Jaguar Land Rover coming to the home to assist in various tasks. They got their hands well and truly dirty helping lay a new wheelchair friendly path to the greenhouse (much to Tom’s delight), painting all the communal areas on the second floor and planted flowers in all the raised beds in the courtyard. Our Residents enjoyed a wonderful evening on 24 th October with music celebrating some female singers from over the last few decades. It really was amazing to see everyone singing, smiling and laughing. There was also a birthday celebration that evening and the cake was delicious! We have been able to purchase another mini-bus which will be delivered in January 2014. This will enable us to take more residents out and about and help out with journeys to college, day centres, etc. Please see the attached page which shows events happening throughout November and December and we very much hope you will be able to join us for some of them.
