To discuss about our rules for going online, including how long I can be online, what sites I

can visit, and who I can communicate with while online.

To create strong passwords and to keep it private from friends and relatives.

To not to share my private data viz. Name, age, name of school, location, telephone

number, home address with anyone. Especially with strangers who ask for such details

online. I will inform my parents immediately if anyone asks me for these details.

To keep my parents informed about the known and unknown people I meet online. I won’t

answer emails, chats, IM’s messages and friend requests from unknown people.

To plan a time schedule for all Internet activities, i.e. Academic or Entertainment activities. Not to sit online for long idle hours, sacrificing my study, play and sleep-time.

To take care not to land upon pages, sites which are inappropriate for me. I will tell my

parents if I land upon something which I don’t understand on the Internet.

To develop a habit of telling my parents about my online activities. I will answer all their

questions calmly without getting irritated because I know they are worried about my

Internet safety.

To tell my parents’ if some unknown online friend asks me to meet them in real.If my parents restrict some websites, applications from my surfing, I will respect their

decision.

To always strive to develop hobbies and interests out of the Internet world also, because

sitting in front of the screen for long hours will harm my body and mind.

To discuss the basic Internet guidelines with my kids.

To help my kids in creating a strong password and teach them not to share personal

information like passwords, name and address, phone numbers, school details with anyone

online.

To manage my kids Internet’s time and keep myself updated of the online dangers which

can harm them.

To keep a tab of the website and applications my kids use and familiarize myself with it. Set

up an Internet time table for my kids with also the names of websites they can visit or avoid.

To ask them not to befriend any strangers online and if they want to meet any online friend,

in real world, they should keep me informed.

Keep computers out of children's bedrooms or in open areas which are frequented by

people.

To set age-appropriate controls, security and schedule time for my kids’ internet access.

Install an Internet filter or family safety software and update it regularly.

To tell him/her about the risks of lack of physical activities in life and mend him/her from

sitting in front of screen for long hours.

If they land upon something, which is inappropriate for their age, to explain them what is

right and wrong for them.

To build a strong and frank communication bond with my kids regarding their Internet Safety.
