Parliamentary Procedure Parliamentary procedure is a commonly
accepted way in which a group of people come together, present and discuss possible courses of action, and make decisions. The National Association of Parliamentarians bases its opinions and instruction upon Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised.
Some of the benefits of using parliamentary procedure are that it protects the will of the majority, allows the minority to be heard, protects the rights of absentees, provides courtesy and justice for all, and considers one subject at a time.
