Homecoming!! Homecoming Game will be Friday, October 21 against Kingston Homecoming Dance will be Saturday, October 29 from 7:00-10:00. We cannot do the dance on Saturday, October 22 because the Bremerton Symphony has our facilities booked for their big concert. Homecoming ticket prices: $20 with an ASB card, $30 without. Tickets are on sale now. All fines and fees must be paid prior to purchasing a ticket. Students in need of financial assistance to pay fines/fees need to see Mrs. Maib in the ASB Office to request a Payment Plan contract. Good attendance is required to participate in the Homecoming Dance. Students with 9 or more absences are not permitted to attend the dance. Students with attendance issues with special circumstances, may appeal to their assistant principal. Come see the Knights take on Kingston! Don’t miss the special halftime show featuring the Homecoming Court, drill team, band and Homecoming floats! Fireworks show after the game! Class of 2017 Seniors received information from National Achiever about ordering cap and gown, announcements, rings, etc. Students also received a flyer with important information about senior activities and graduation. (See attachment) National Achiever will be back at BHS on October 25 th during lunches to collect orders from students. Key Club Collecting Soap The Bremerton High School Key Club is collecting bars of gentle-scented soap to donate to Operation Christmas Child. Donations will be accepted in the main office until November 10 th . Student Assistance Program Please see the attached letter which provides information about the Student Assistance Program at Bremerton High School. This year’s Reflection program theme is, What Is Your Story? Tell your story through dance, a short film, a poem or story, an original song, a photo or visual work of art. Pick up a PTA Reflections Entry Form today from the main office. This year’s entry deadline for Bremerton High School students is November 18th, 2016. BHS Fall Play coming soon The fall play this year is The Crucible. Performances will be November 11th and 12th at 7pm and November 13th at 2pm. General admission tickets are $7. Tickets for Students with ASB, Senior citizens and Children under 12 are $5. Knight Academy Would you like a great place to study and get some tutoring support? We have the program for you! Join your classmates in Knight Academy every Tuesday/Thursday from 2:00-4:00 and every Wednesday from 12:00-2:00 in the BHS library. Looking for an easy way to get involved in the community?

Visit www.volunteerkitsap.org . Getting started is easy! Just visit the website and register to volunteer at an event that works for you. You can track your hours and get an estimate on how many hours you have accrued over time. This is a great resume builder and an even better community builder.

GradPoint Classes Does your student still need to finish up a class that they started during summer school or do they just want to get some work done on their GradPoint classes? Students are welcome in the GradPoint portable 603 after school on Wednesdays from 12-2:30pm to work on their classes. Dear Parents, We are excited to announce Bremerton High School is continuing to offer a Student Assistance Program . The program provides a wide variety of substance abuse 1

education prevention, intervention and recovery support services to students.

The goals of the program include: 1. Preventing substance abuse 2. Reducing the prevalence of substance abuse among teens 3. Improving school performance

Patti Sgambellone is the Prevention/Interventionist assigned to Bremerton High School, and an employee of Olympic Educational Service District 114. Her office hours are Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM. However, evening hours may be arranged to meet with parents and community groups. Ms. Sgambellone will be meeting with students individually and in small groups to provide counseling support. She will provide education and guidance to students who are impacted by substance use, teach refusal skills and assist students in making healthy choices. Ms. Sgambellone will also be providing prevention education curriculum to the 9th grade.

Ms. Sgambellone is available to parents as well. If you are worried about your student and would like to speak to her directly, please call (360) 473-0978 or email [email protected]. Senior Information

Graduation Requirements: In order to participate in

the graduation ceremony, a student must have successfully

completed all requirements for graduation by the end of

the school day on Thursday, June 8th.

22.5 Credits earned

Culminating Project (Portfolio) completed

High School and Beyond Plan completed

Credit Make-up Alternatives: Both Drawbridge/

Senior Boost and GradPoint are offered after school for

seniors to complete course work in order to earn credit in

required classes. See your Counselor for more information.

Fines and Fees: In order to walk at graduation, all fines

and fees must be paid prior to graduation rehearsal. Fines

and fees can be paid at the BHS finance window or online

through Skyward Family Access.

Graduation Commencement Ceremony Tickets:

Tickets for gradation will be issued during graduation re-

hearsal. Each graduating senior will receive 10 tickets (6 if

inside). Students may sign up for extra tickets in the main

office starting June 1st. There is no guarantee how many

extra tickets will be available.

Senior Finals:

June 5th: Periods 1, 3, 5

June 6th: Periods 2, 4, 6

Senior Check-out: June 8th

1. Pick up check-out sheet in the Library before 1st period.

2. Attend all classes and have check-out sheet signed by

your teachers. Teachers will not sign ahead of time.

3. At 2:00pm, report to the commons to pick up your

rehearsal ticket. No rehearsal tickets will be given out

ahead of time.

Graduation Day—June 9

Senior Breakfast: Friday, June 9th from 6:30am-7:30am

in the Commons. Breakfast will be served by the staff.

There is no cost to seniors.

Graduation Rehearsal: Friday, June 9th at 7:45am.

Students must present a rehearsal ticket to participate.

Students must be on time and complete the entire

graduation rehearsal in order to participate in the

evening ceremony. Rehearsal is mandatory!

Commencement Ceremony tickets will be handed out at

the end of the rehearsal.

Graduation Commencement Ceremony: Friday,

June 9th at 7:00pm at BHS Memorial Stadium.

Arrival time: Seniors need to be here by 5:30pm. Please

be on time!

Attire: This is a formal ceremony. Students must wear

the approved graduation cap and gown, which can be

purchased from National Achiever or borrowed from

the counseling office. Students are not allowed to alter

graduation clothing, wear leis or other items during the

graduation ceremony or adorn their cap and/or gown.

Diplomas: Diplomas will be available for pickup after

the ceremony if no fines or fees are owed. Diplomas

will not be mailed. Diplomas not picked up graduation

night will be available in the registrar’s office.

Flowers & Gifts (PTSA Fundraiser): The BHS PTSA will

have a flower gift shop set up prior to graduation. The

profits support BHS students and staff. For more

Media Information: The ceremony will be broadcast

live on Channel 12 by the Bremerton High School Vi-

sions of the Knight TV Production class. DVDs of the

ceremony will be available for purchase through the

finance window for $10.

Parking: Parking for graduation will be available in the

parking lot at 13th and Lincoln.

Handicap Parking and Seating: Please contact the BHS

main office at 473-0800 to reserve handicap parking

and/or seating for the graduation ceremony.

Pictures: Pictures will be taken by Yuen Lui Studios dur-

ing the ceremony and will be available for purchase.

Senior Activities

Senior Tea: Wednesday, May 31st at 12:30pm in the

BHS Auditorium. Parents, relatives, and friends are in-

vited. Students should wear white.

Senior Awards Night: Wednesday, May 31st at

6:00pm in the BHS Auditorium. This event recognizes

senior scholarship recipients and other award winners.

Participants are contacted in advance of the ceremony.

Parents and friends are invited to attend. Honor

medallions and honor cords will be presented to those

students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2

or higher, based on the first seven semesters.

Knighting Assembly: Friday, May 12th at 1:30pm

in the BHS Auditorium. This assembly recognizes stu-

dents who help make Bremerton High School special

and go above and beyond in modeling the Knight way.

Senior Prom: Saturday, May 13th at from 8:00pm -

11:00pm at the Tacoma Art Museum.

All fines and fees must be paid in order to

purchase a Prom ticket. The cost for tickets will be

based on the amount of money raised during

senior class fundraising activities. The more money

that is raised, the lower the cost of the tickets!!

Students must have a current ASB/ID card in order

to enter the Prom.

If you are bringing a guest to the dance that does

not attend BHS, you must get a visitor pass from

the Finance window.

No one 21 or older will be allowed to participate

in the Prom.

Tickets must be purchased and all completed guest

passes must be turned in by April 28th!

Senior Grad Knight: . This trip is sponsored by the

BHS PTSA. The details for Grad Knight are still being

finalized and information will be provided as it be-

comes available. Seniors can help raise money for this

trip by volunteering to help at the McTakeover fund-

raiser on December 14th. If you have any questions,

Baccalaureate: TBD. More information will be com-
