FAME Lesson 5.4 Georges Seurat A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte 1884–86, oil on canvas Student Materials 1. Pencil 2. White Paper 3. 3 Precision Q-tips 4. 3 Regular Q-tips 5. 1 FAME label per student 6. Water color wells with paint 7. Paper towel 8. Glue Stick 1. Draw a landscape with a foreground hill and a back ground hill and a sun along the horizon. Demo this on the teacher’s white board and assist the younger grades. 2. Dip a Regular Q-tip dip into the green paint well and dot once onto the paper towel to lightly desaturate (do this after every dip in the color wells). Then dot green paint sporadically over the hill on the foreground. 3. With a Precision Q-tip dot yellow paint sporadi- cally over the top of the hill on the foreground to emulate sun shine. 4. With a Regular Q-tip dot orange paint sporadically over background hill. 7. With a Precision Q-tip dot orange along the top edge of the sun and gradually dot a few towards the middle. This will create a sphere concept for the sun. 8. With a Regular Q-tip dot blue throughout the sky. 9. Finally with a Precision Q-tip dot purple along the horizon to emulate a sunset. 5.
