FAMAE SIGNS MOUs WITH NORWEGIAN AND TURKISH FIRMS - The FABRICA AND MAESTRANZAS DEL EJERCITO (FAMAE) signed MoUs with firms NAMMO RAUFFOS of Norway and ROKETSAN of Turkey. In the case of the Scandinavian fir, the cooperation agreement is aimed to share technologies for the manufacture of hand grenades of offensive and defensive type, while the agreement with the Turkish company will focus on the integration of 122mm and 300mm rocket systems.

Director of FAMAE, Army Brigade General Juan Vidal, and the Chairman of NAMMO Erland Paulsrud signed the first agreement. General Vidal explained that “this agreement will help the transfer of technology for production of hand-grenades. We are providers of the Chilean Army and other organizations. The idea is co-produce with NAMMO. We can provide the fragmentary case and they can provide the starter. The main explosive is also made by FAMAE, so we can jointly do the manufacture sharing the technology and the know how”.Mr Erland Pauslrud said that “we have studied this agreement for a long time. We are a prestigious international group and we have been thinking about this for two years, and we have other projects to propose”.

In the case of ROKETSAN, the agreement was signed by Brigade General Juan Vidal and the Chairman of the Turkish firm, Mr. Eyüp Kaptan. The agreement still requires some

further studies and discussion before becoming reality.

General Vidal commented that the sign of the MoUs at FIDAE was significative. “It is very successful to be able to sign these agreements to fulfil needs of the Army here at FIDAE. We are taking advantage of this very good opportunity to relate to many companies, were the renewal of contracts happen and were the companies are doing a big effort to come. At FIDAE is the most of the companies of land defence”.

Paulsrud from NAMMO supported the opinion of General Vidal, saying that “is the first time that we are in FIDAE and we are very impressed by the organization and the easy way we can arrange meetings with people for business, I want to come back in 2014”.

La Fábrica y Maestranzas del Ejército (FAMAE) firmó memorandos de entendimiento con las empresas NAMMO RAUFFOS de Noruega y ROKETSAN de Turquía. En el caso de los escandinavos se trata de un acuerdo de cooperación mutua en la confección de granadas de mano ofensiva/defensiva, y en el caso de los turcos es para la integración de sistemas de cohetes de 122 mm y 300 mm.

El Director de FAMAE, GDB Juan Vidal G., y el Presidente de NAMMO, Erland Paulsrud, suscribieron este acuerdo que beneficia el traspaso de tecnología en productos para la defensa. “En granadas de mano nosotros somos proveedores del Ejército de Chile y de algunas otras instituciones. La idea entonces es cofabricar con NAMMO. Nosotros ponemos la camisa fragmentaria y ellos ponen el iniciador. El explosivo principal también lo hace FAMAE. De esa manera, cofabricamos con parte de su tecnología y recibiendo el know-how nosotros”, explicó el General Vidal.

Por su parte, Erland Paulsrud explicó que “durante bastante tiempo hemos estudiado este acuerdo. Somos un grupo internacional de prestigio y llevamos dos años viendo el tema con FAMAE y hay varios otros proyectos que queremos sugerirles”.

En cuanto al memorando de entendimiento con la empresa ROKETSAN, fue suscrito por el General Vidal y por el Presidente de ROKETSAN, Ismail Ozalp. Si bien se contempla en el acuerdo la cooperación mutua para la integración de sistemas de cohetes de 120mm y 300mm, se trata de un documento que todavía debe desarrollarse para llevarlo a la práctica.

Respecto de haber firmado los memorandos en dependencias de FIDAE, el General Vidal comentó: “Es muy exitoso tener la posibilidad de firmar aquí este contrato para proveer al Ejército. Nosotros aprovechamos esta instancia porque es de mucha relación con las empresas y, por lo tanto, se produce una serie de renovaciones de contrato y las empresas hacen un esfuerzo grande en venir. En FIDAE están la mayoría de las empresas de defensa terrestres”.

En este mismo sentido, el Presidente de NAMMO afirmó: “Es la primera vez que estamos en FIDAE y estamos impresionados con la organización y con la facilidad que hay para encontrarse con las personas con las que uno quiere reunirse. Mi deseo es volver el 2014”.
