The suspect attempted to obtain personal bank account and other financial information from a Grand Rapids resident. The intended victim said he was approached by the suspect while walking in his neighborhood in the area of Lake Michigan Dr. Collingdale Ave NW. The suspect identified herself as a police officer and showed the resident a badge. The suspect went onto explain she was investigating a “counterfeit ring “and the resident matched the suspect description. The suspect then talked her way into the residence home where he was asked about his personal finances and asked about money kept in the home. The female suspect was last seen entering the passenger side of a small white older station wagon, driven by an unknown person. The Kent County Sheriff’s Department is investigating two similar cases that occurred in the 3000 and 4000 block of Plainfield Ave on March 8 th and 9 th involving victims of similar age. The Wyoming Police, Grandville Police Department and Portage Police Department have also taken reports on what appears to be related incidents. Suspect Description: B/.F 30’s, 5’3”, 5’4”, slim build, long shoulder length hair. Grand Rapids Police and Kent County Sheriff’s Department along with other area departments are following up on these cases. Anyone with information about these investigations is asked to call the Grand Rapids Police Department at 456-3604 or Silent Observer at 774-2345.
