Kemmerer was a typical small western town with a few wooden buildings. He rented a vacant building for $45 a month and opened a cash and carry store. About one thousand people lived in Kemmerer which was a mining town. He was told he would not succeed in his new venture. The bank cashier at the only bank in town discouraged him. He told him that no cash and carry store would survive. Simple reason being, miners had no cash. The minors were pressured, inmidated and forced to buy from the company stores. However, this young man met objecon with a confident smile. He said that you will be surprised at the amount of business I will do in my lile “Golden rule store”. The store name reflected his religious beliefs. The building that he rented had one room down and an ac that was accessed by outside stairs, that served for his home. The date was set for opening day. He mailed a flyer to 500 miners announcing the opening of the new “Golden Rule” store. On opening day miners and ranchers poured in from sun up to sun down. He and his wife served the miners and their wives with courtesy and warm friendliness that the miners did not find in the company stores. At midnight he climbed the ac stairs to his home; carrying cash from the first day’s sales. It was a thrilling moment to say the least. Sing on their shoebox chairs and counng their pennies,

THE GOLDEN RULE “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you…” Matthew 7:12 On April 1, 1902 a young 26 year old man and his wife Bertha arrived in Kemmerer, Wyoming. Kemmerer was a typical small western town with a few wooden buildings. He rented a vacant building for $45 a month and opened a cash and carry store. The store name reflected his religious beliefs. The building that he rented had one room down and an attic that was accessed by outside stairs, that served for his home. The date was set for opening day. He mailed a flyer to 500 miners announcing the opening of the new “Golden Rule” store. On opening day miners and ranchers poured in from sun up to sun down. "I am not descended from monkeys, though you may be fooled at first glance.

I'm the work of God, my Creator! I am not the product of chance.

I did not evolve from a tadpole who got lost and wandered ashore......

But by God's hand, His will and plan, I am, and nothing more."

During our month long creation vs

evolution series we had a special

guest... whom we learned is NOT

one of our long lost relatives …

The kids LOVED it.

Our Youth attended the Winter Jam Concert in

Cleveland, featuring the Christian artists Jeremy Camp, Family Force 5,

Blanca, For King & Country, Skillet and

others.
