lessons learned from the rise of new higher education providers, describe the rapid development and future of

Massively Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and offer advice on strategies for institutions and faculty to successfully

deliver programs at a distance.

A demonstration of a hardware and software alternative to the white board and Powerpoint, along with a

discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of using this technology.

This session will be an introduction to Positive Psychology, the scientific study of well-being with an applied

approach to optimal functioning. Positive Psychology does not advocate only a posititive perspective and it is not

positive thinking or a westernized version of "happy-ology" Positive psychology acknowledges the value of planning

for and dealing with problem but suggests it could also be beneficial to expand focus to include what is right about

life. What is well-being? What helps us lead happier and more meaningful lives? What are the benefits of focusing

on developing strengths as opposed to fixing weakness? These are a few of the topics we will explore in this

introductory session.

to identify the students of concern. You may have students of concern who range from being disruptive in class,

and handled through disciplinary channels, to students who may be at risk of harm to self or others, requiring

referral for more clinical assessment and intervention. But how can you distinguish between these types of

students? This session will introduce a tool to help faculty approach a student of concern and initiate an

appropriate referral and will inform faculty about referral services available at COD.
