EQUAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY POLICY

Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas (PCCUA) is an equal opportunity, affirmative action institution. PCCUA provides equal educational and employment opportunity without regard to age, race, gender, gender identity, national origin, disability, religion, marital or parental status, veteran status, genetic information or sexual orientation. We prohibit retaliation against a person who files a charge of discrimination, participates in a discrimination proceeding, or otherwise opposes an unlawful practice.

Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance by way of grant, contract, or loan. Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is similar in its prohibition of discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, or origin. Equal education opportunity includes admission, recruitment, extracurricular programs and activities, facilities, access to course offerings, counseling and testing, financial assistance, placement, health, and athletics. The college is also committed to equal opportunities for the physically and mentally handicapped in compliance with federal regulations, Sec. 504, Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. If a student has special needs, the college only needs to be notified, and arrangements will be made.

However, circumstances such as demand for courses and faculty availability may require changes between the time of schedule preparation and the time the semester begins. Phillips Community College reserves the right to add, delete, or restrict enrollment of classes due to unforeseen circumstances.
