Aftercare: There is no additional charge for aftercare if the child is picked up promptly after a club meeting. Children who are not picked up after their club meeting will be placed

in aftercare and parents will be charged aftercare fees. Club classes provide students with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of each sport, art, or music program which they choose in a safe environment. Students practice technique and are able to let their talent shine through planned activities.

Mondays : 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Ages : 4th grade and up Teacher : Elena Walker Join a new club, the EB Inventor’s Club, for kids who are EXPLODING at the seams with ideas about how to change the world for the better with new inventions, innovations and designs. The goal of this club will be to produce a Holiday Market and Innovation Show in mid-December with products and inventions that we create and possibly sell! This fall semester we will get inspired hearing about other kids who have invented and marketed products to achieve their own goals. We’re going to take time to explore and document our ideas in design, fashion, and fun, as well as solutions to problems in life, school and the world. We will explore what it means to be an inventor and an entrepreneur, what skills and characteristics are often needed to be successful — like being creative, stubborn, fearless, full of energy and ideas.

Kids interested in joining this club will need to realize that it will not all happen during the club time. Students will need to be putting in time at home, possibly with help from parents on weekends. There might be the possibility of arranging some weekend or weeknight

workshops with specialists in different types of industries if there is an interest. There are only 8 spaces available for this class.

Ages: 3rd - 5th grade GOTR is a 10-week after school program offered to 3rd-5th grade girls that inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Girls meet bi-weekly and discuss - through running activities - situations that help them develop essential skills to better navigate their world and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program ends with a 5K that takes place at Audubon Park on December, 3rd. All the GOTR programs in the city will come together for this festive event! Ecole Bilingue Cello Choir

Dear EB Parents,

I want to let you know about a recent addition to EB’s slate of extra-

curricular offerings. I will teach a cello ensemble class, also known as a cello

choir, in other words a small orchestra focused on learning this instrument.

We started the group one year ago and the small but mighty quartet made

their debut by opening the end-of-school program this past May. Here are

some facts you can consider to decide if you would like your child to

participate.

WHEN: the class will meet Thursday mornings, 7:15-8 a.m.

SIZE: the class will be small to ensure ample individual attention. If the class grows

beyond 8 students we will add an additional day.

COST: The fee for the fall semester will depend on total enrollment, ranging from

$370 to $250, depending on number of students (see registration sheet).

AGE: This atelier is for those in first grade and above.

Do I have to have an instrument? Yes, you will need to make arrangements to rent or

buy an instrument if you don’t already have access to one. Please contact me for

advice on obtaining an instrument.

How does this relate to the band/orchestra that Lionel has started? The cello choir is

just an additional offering. Students can be in either or both groups. The main

difference is that in the band you are required to already have some fundamental

knowledge and experience with an instrument. The cello choir will accept both

experienced musicians and those interested in learning the cello for the first time.

The fundamentals of the instrument will be taught in the class. So the cello choir is

more like a cross between a larger ensemble like band/orchestra and a private

lesson. M. Lionel dabbles in the cello himself and is excited about this offering; if we

can get him up in time, maybe he will occasionally join us.

Do I have to practice? Well … let’s just say, YES, that would be best!

About the teacher: Jeanne Jaubert is the mother of a rising fourth grader at EB. She

holds Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral degrees in music. She moved to New Orleans

in 1998 to join the Louisiana Philharmonic, and she also has a thriving private cello

studio. She was introduced to the cello in 6th grade through her middle school

orchestra, and she wants to make this type of school-based music making available

to EB students.
