Only the Best Get Crowned Consistent with our Founders' thoughts in 1898, our primary purpose is to create an environment for our
members in which lasting friendships and our vows of sisterhood emanate all aspects of our Fraternity. We
encourage an atmosphere that will foster high ideals of friendship among college women, promote their
educational and cultural interests, create in them a true sense of social responsibility and develop in them high
qualities of character.

Have a great and successful first day of Spring Semester!
With this semester ending and my term as President coming to a
close, I want to thank everyone for everything they have done this
past year, not only for me, but also for our chapter. I am proud to say
I feel confident handing my position over with our chapter the way it is now. I honestly believe we are a much stronger chapter than where we were a year ago. I am so proud of all of the 9 other Executive Council members I was able to work with over the year and I cannot thank them enough
for all their hard work and dedication. Best of luck to the new
2014 Executive Council!

Formal Recruitment
Skit/sisterhood night’s theme was “How sweet it is to be a ZTA” with a candy bar on display and colorful decorations. The night consisted of skits that some sisters made up dances to ZTA songs. Our sisters worked really hard to make up dances to perform for everyone. Later in the night we showcased our first ever recruitment video, which was a huge hit. The recruitment video showed the true meaning of our chapter’s sisterhood.
Panhellenic formal recruitment took place September 11th-‐‑14th. The rounds consisted of Skit/Sisterhood night, Philanthropy night, and Preference night. Recruitment was a huge success for the Eta Sigma chapter and so much fun. We enjoyed meeting over 100 potential new members going through recruitment and gave out 19 bids to amazing new members.
Philanthropy night is always a special night because we get to show off how hard we work towards our philanthropy and how passionate we are about breast cancer education and awareness. This is the night we where able to share our personal stories of being affected by breast cancer and share the amazing things ZTA chapters all over the country do to raise money for the cause. We showed the national philanthropy video, explain our philanthropy events, and had a sister speak about her personal story with being affected by breast cancer and told how ZTA impacted her during that time. We also created breast cancer paper strips with encouraging words such as “fight like a girl” and “hope, courage, faith“ to place on water bottles to bring to the survivors at Race for the Cure. Preference night is always the most important night for any chapter. On this night we did our preference night ceremony and got to know the potential new members at a deeper level before seeing them at Bid Day.

Think Pink Week 2013
Sweet Frog Fundraiser We kicked off Think Pink Week with a fundraiser at a local frozen yogurt establishment, Sweet Frog. From 4:00pm to 8:00pm, 20% of all profits made went to ZTA. Sisters also hung out at Sweet Frog, cleaning tables, washing windows, cleaning out yogurt trays, and greeting customers. Our chapter really enjoyed working with Sweet Frog and, of course, eating frozen yogurt!
Spaghetti Dinner The ladies of ZTA held their first annual spaghetti dinner at the Berea Church. We sold almost 200 tickets at $5.00 a piece. A local "ʺSave A Lot"ʺ in Laurinburg, NC donated all of the items for our dinner. Throughout the night, we passed out breast cancer ribbons, bags, and calendars. This event was a very successful fundraiser for our chapter, and we hope to improve with it every
year.
On October 16, 2013, the ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha hosted their annual yogurt eat-‐‑off contest. With 14 contestants entered, the contest was split up into four rounds. In each round three to four contestants had three minutes to eat as many yogurts as they could. The winner from each round advanced to the final round. In the final round, the contestants were given five minutes to, not only eat regular sized yogurts, finish a tub of yogurt as well. As the final round came to an end, our second time winner Michael Niedermayer defended his title and won for the men division and one of our very own sisters, Chaliss Cline, won for the women.

Service Events
Lumberton Rescue Service The ladies of ZTA teamed up with a local
rescue unit by giving back into the community. The ladies went out fully prepared to wash a fleet of 12 rescue trucks and ambulances and to provide a hearty lunch for the team. What they received was “the nobility of serving thereby earning the right to be served.” The rescue team rode the ladies around in their largest rescue truck and helped them wash their vehicles, too. The ladies provided a spaghetti lunch and cupcakes for dessert. According to LREMS, Zeta ladies are of the first to come and volunteer for them around their facilities.
Operation Christmas Child
Our final service of the semester was Operation Christmas Child. The sisters were paired up and given a small list of items that they were to stuff their boxes with. Items could range from toothbrushes and hair ties to dolls and books. Over 25 boxes were filled and turned in to help children in third world countries have a fulfilling Christmas.
