I’ve had a love of books since I was a child, and a curiosity for how they were made; picture books and storybooks were always great, but it was the interactive ones that truly fascinated me . . . Pat the Bunny was an immediate favorite before I ever heard the term “touch and feel.” The more books I could get ahold of the better, and if there was a flap to lift, a button to push, or a sound to be made, then I could amuse myself for hours—my parents were thrilled.

Inevitably I would take many of these books apart to see how they worked, only to attempt to reassemble them in my own way. I did the same thing to the family TV early on, but when all was said and done I had pieces left over—my parents were not thrilled. This same childlike interest in how things work and fit together has continued throughout my career, and it’s why I am still taking things apart and putting them back together again in my own way—parental approval is no longer an issue!

As Silver Dolphin’s publisher, I now have the great opportunity to lead the charge of creating books that are colorful, educational, and full of sounds and pop-up because, as Dr. Seuss wrote:

You have brains in your head.You have feet in your shoes.You can steer yourselfany direction you choose.You’re on your own. And you know what you know.And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

In this catalog we are very pleased to introduce several new innovative formats that complement many of our familiar ones: books that are entertaining, at times humorous and educational, and ultimately memorable. In addition to continuing the publication of the Maurice Pledger series of animal pop-ups and colorful Snappy titles, we are excited to be blazing a new trail by adding original homegrown titles to our list. We are bringing brand-new formats to the market, and introducing new writers and illustrators who will become part of the ever-expanding family of Silver Dolphin contributors.

For fall 2012 we have the beautifully illustrated The A to Z Book of Wild Animals by Peter David Scott, in which kids will be able to explore an incredible alphabet of animals. Speaking of ABC’s, we are very excited to be publishing our first Sue DiCicco title, Santa’s Elves ABC, just in time for the holidays, in addition to a sparkling counting book, Five Christmas Penguins, which is sure to entertain with an amusing cast of colorful penguins.

Joining in the mix are the new Snaptivity titles that are sure to entertain and elicit smiles with bright and colorful art on every spread while we continue to color, build, and play with AmazErasers, an activity series that not too surprisingly includes erasers that can be taken apart and put back together again! The Stamps & Doodles series provides a fun way for boys and girls to put their imagination to play within a whimsical world of robots, cars, fairy tales, and fashion design. Parents and kids alike will enjoy drawing just about anything using circles or squares in the Learn to Draw series, and can color their favorite creatures from the oceans and jungles—and even from prehistoric time—in the new Color and Play series.

These titles are just the beginning in our development of new and innovative formats, and we hope you get as much enjoyment from them as we do. Coming soon are details on our developing App and digital program, so be sure to stay on the lookout!

regarding product quality and safety

Silver Dolphin is committed to creating novelty books that are not only educational and interactive, but above all safe.

Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our children, and we employ several checkpoints in our product

development process that are designed to protect our most valuable and precious end consumers.

All Silver Dolphin products are tested in accordance with stringent Federal guidelines, which include the Consumer

Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) and ASTM F963. These tests include, but are not limited to, lead, heavy

metals, phthalates, and other applicable tests. We also utilize a safety testing specialist to review our products and

components from the very beginning prior to the manufacturing stage. Before materials or components are sourced,

the product is subject to a design evaluation and reviewed for age appropriateness, design hazards, and all required

testing. Once the product is manufactured, it undergoes final testing at a certified laboratory. These test documents

and samples are then reviewed and approved before the product is released into the market.

We understand that as a parent, retailer, or consumer you may have further inquiries, so we are happy to answer any
