September – December 2011 Prayer Guide

Praise and AdorationGod made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. –2 Corinthians 5:21

Father, we praise You for Your righteousness; the righteousness that became our sin and allows us to be in Your presence. Take your rightful place as we pray -- on the throne of our hearts – and receive our praise as we draw near to You. May our praise and adoration reflect our lifestyles, and motivate us to live holy lives.

Confession and RepentanceBe perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. –Matthew 5:48

Father, Your Word sets a high standard for our lives - perfection. We confess our failings and shortcomings, and recognize that apart from You we are powerless. Reveal our sin and forgive us for the things that dishonor and grieve You. Give us strength to overcome as we turn and follow you in obedience and trust, with hearts of gratitude and thanksgiving.

Seeking His Power, Protection and ProvisionShout with joy to God, all the earth! Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious! Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you. All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing praise to your name.” Selah. –Psalm 66:1-4

Father, Your enemies cringe because of the greatness of Your power. We need that same Power to surround and protect the body of Christ at Biltmore; defeat the enemy, Lord! We’re asking for Your power, protection and provision over all our campuses. Keep the enemy’s strategies from succeeding so that Your Name will be honored, the lost will be saved, and lives will be changed and strengthened -- all for Your glory.

Reaching Up in Worship With Joy and ThanksgivingGod is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth. –John 4:24

Father, thank You for the work of the Holy Spirit in our worship services; may our spirits be joined as we worship. Shatter the pride and complacency and reveal to each worshiper what he or she needs to know and understand as Your Word is preached. Help our focus to be on You, free of all distractions that would draw us away from Your Throne of Grace. Help our worship times to always be a service where we bow our hearts and meet You!

Please set a guard around Pastor Bruce as he prepares, studies, and delivers the messages You have placed on His heart. May many people respond to Your Word through life changing commitments and decisions, as chains of bondage are broken and new freedom in You is experienced.

Use worship services on all campuses (Arden, East and Online) to expand Your Kingdom. Please draw people to Your Throne of Grace, and may this be a place for people to hear Your Word, grow in their relationship with You, and exhibit kindness as they reach out to the lost and unchurched of surrounding communities.

Place a shield of protection around Pastor Carl, the Worship Team/Band, Choir and Orchestra as they lead in worship. Give them pure hearts and a passion to guide people into a worship experience that gives the spiritual nourishment they need.

Father, bless the children as they participate in the AMP worship services; encourage their hearts as they continue to be excited about worship, and telling others about Jesus.

Thank You for the Parkers, Greeters, and Ushers that demonstrate Your love through their service each week. Please continue to use them to help people arrive for worship in the right frame of mind.

Father, Jesus said: …‘My house will be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of robbers.’ (Matthew 21:13) Give us ears to hear, and may we always stay focused and pray fervently for Your power, protection and provision over every expression of worship and ministry at Biltmore.

Continue to give Pastor Bruce and the leadership of Biltmore the passion and courage to seek Your direction and will for Biltmore at all times.

Reaching In with Compassion and ServiceMy prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. –John 17:20-23

Father, thank You for the truths of Your Word that helps us grasp your desire and love for Your children. Thank You Lord Jesus, for praying for us! We have believed because of the message of Your disciples years ago, and now we desire to be obedient as You ask that we be one as You and the Father are one. As we serve and honor You, may Your words come true in us: May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

Help the Connect Groups to live out the truth of Your Word by caring for each other, and welcoming new people into their classes.

May sharing Your love be the passion of Connect Group Teachers as they prepare and teach Your Word every week; give the workers the desire to honor You through loving and serving others.

Give leaders wisdom as they seek to lay biblical foundations for Preschoolers, reach Children with the love of Jesus Christ, and help Students create a culture of influence, excellence and compassion in their lives. May the fundamentals of all teaching and training guide them to respond to God’s love and call on their lives.

Thank You for the AWANA Clubs that offer many opportunities for Gospel-centered teaching and scripture memorization. May more adults respond and take advantage of the opportunity to invest in the lives of children.

Father, permeate the Single Adults Ministry with Your Spirit as people choose a church family and begin the process of developing life-long friends and relationships; may the Gospel message penetrate every activity and worship service.

Enlarge and strengthen the Married Adults, Mature Adults, Men’s and Women’s Ministries to care for individual needs, offer an environment for growth in Your Word, and reach the lost and unchurched with the love of Jesus.

Father, bless the Deacons as they serve the Body of Christ at Biltmore. May our deacons be spiritual servant leaders in the life of our church; give them willing hearts as they make themselves available to meet needs within the church family.

Encourage people who are interested in becoming members of Biltmore to attend a Starting Point class. Speak to their hearts as Pastor Bruce shares the values, vision and beliefs of the church, and give them a desire to get connected and find their place of service.

Thank You that PLACE Ministry helps people understand the ways You have equipped them for service; may they be willing to serve and use their gifts for Your glory.

Father, pour out Your Spirit on Wednesdays @ BILTMORE as people worship and study Your Word each week. May this worship experience help people grow in their faith, and may Your Word always be the foundation and focus of every event.

Father, bless all areas of the Touch of Love Homebound Ministry, as volunteers take gifts and share the love of Jesus through their caring and smiles to our precious homebound members each month.

Reaching Out With Boldness and Love“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” –John 4:34-35

Father, grant us boldness and a hunger for doing Your will, and finishing well the work You have given us. Open our eyes that we might truly see the “harvest of souls” in our area, and be eager to reach them with the love of Jesus. Help us to never be satisfied with doing less than our best to honor and glorify Your Name. May we have willing hearts to go out beyond the four walls of Biltmore and reach the “harvest fields” of Asheville and surrounding areas.

Use the outreach event of COLLIDE to reach the lost and unchurched students of our community. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, give our students the courage and strength to surrender their lives to Christ – to trust You and live in complete obedience to Your Word.

Father, there are many hurting people, and their homes and lives are being destroyed. We recognize that “the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” We pray for Your protection over the staff of HOPE Network/Celebrate Recovery, as they help and encourage people to “be self-controlled and alert to resist him, standing firm in the faith…” –James 5:8-9

As Mission trips are scheduled and planned, may our focus always be on reaching the lost; move in the hearts of people to go, and give us a renewed passion to take the love of Jesus to people across the street and around the world.

Thank You for the coaches and volunteers working in Upward Sports throughout

the year. May Your love continue to show in their enthusiasm and joy, and spill into the hearts of children and adults alike.

Father, help the people of Biltmore to be a loving and generous people as LOVE LOUD opportunities are presented. Thank You for the hundreds of people touched by Your love as the family of Biltmore gives, goes and serves in communities and schools.

Please use The Bookstore to encourage and bless the hearts of people as they search for excellent Bible study and reading materials.

May HOOPLA – Oct 29 bring hundreds of unchurched families on campus, and give the Biltmore family opportunities to love on them and share the love of Jesus.

Father, please pour out Your Spirit in the hearts of people involved in the plans for Carolina Mountain Christmas Spectacular. As scripts are written and preparations are made, may Your message of love and grace overflow, and many people respond with life-changing decisions at the presentations.

Father, give wisdom and guidance to the leadership as preparations are made for the East Campus launch in January. Touch hearts and call out people to volunteer and serve in the different areas of ministry. May meaningful relationships be established as plans for reaching people in the East Asheville/Swannanoa communities are finalized.

Praying With Faith for Our Country Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. But when we continued to sin against them, you were angry. How then can we be saved? –Isaiah 64:4-5

It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man. –Psalm 118:8

Father, we are here because Your Word teaches us You act on behalf of those who wait for You. And as we wait, we take refuge in You, Lord; not in man. Thank You that we live in a nation where we have the freedom to bring requests for our National, State, County and City governments before You. We recognize our true freedom comes from You through faith; by holding to Your teachings, we can know the truth that sets us free. (John 8:31-32) Hear our prayers and heal our land from all unrighteousness as we seek Your face.

• May our leaders seek wisdom and guidance from Your Word, and Godly counsel; help them to gladly do right, and remember your ways as they make decisions for our country;

• Stir President Obama’s heart and give him a desire to seek Your will and direction;

5

Page 7: Fall 2012 Prayer Guide

• Surround President Obama and all our appointed and elected officials with people of integrity – those who put political gain aside and make the best decisions for our country;

• Give our leaders courage and strength to stand for the principles our nation was established on – depending and relying on You for wisdom to guide our country;

• Protect our nation from evil, and give us courage to turn from the strategies of the enemy that lead us away from You;

• Lead our State and local elected officials to stand for truth; not believing themselves wise in their own eyes, but always seeking direction from You;

• Thank You for the sacrifice of our military and their families; set a hedge of protection around them, and keep them safe under Your care as they serve our country;

• Father, guide our nation and help us to be faithful and obedient to pray and seek You on behalf of our government leaders. Thank You for Your love, and may our prayers of gratitude and thankfulness be a fragrant aroma in Your presence.

Father, guard and guide our Missionaries:All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and much grace was upon them all. –Acts 4:32-33

Father, please hear our hearts as we lift our missionaries to You. We understand that all power comes from You, and with Your great power our missionaries will be able to serve You, and glorify Your name around the world. Touch them mightily with Your presence and keep their families safe. Protect them Lord, and help us to be faithful to bring their needs before You. May we serve You here as they serve You in other parts of the world, and may we all serve You with one heart and one mind. Enable our missionaries to speak Your Word with great boldness. Thank You for Your grace that ministers to their hearts as we lift them to You:
